But what Alonso is doing in NY makes me say that yes, while forecasting a player to be a top 15 hitter in baseball is silly, saying Vaughn’s ceiling is as a top hitter is what I think his ceiling is, and Alonso certainly at his ceiling is at a 9 WAR pace. Now, the issue may be Vaughn’s power potential. But I do think even looking at hoskins he’s on pace for 4.5 on a very good year. Madrigal I just can’t really see topping 6 wins in his best year. Basically Eaton’s best year which means finding that power.

I've wondered about that but I asked about that at soxfest (last year sox barely played joseu guerrero, coronado, sanchez instead of playing them in DSL) and I guess they feel being in AZ and getting ABs in some backfield games is enough. I did not know backfield games were running but there must be some game play happening.

JD martinez of course, was an actual big leaguer for years before, a fringey poor defensive outfielder who completely remade his swing in an offseason and it didn't manifest itself in the limited playing time they had to re-evaluate it before releasing him. What has changed since 2013? Well they have added millions in technology and coaching that would have helped show them that his swing plane had changed, launch angle had become consistently better and his exit velocity improved. They have turned over almost all of the staff since then. They actually held themselves accountable for the mistake. But yes, nice anecdote. I'm sure AJ Reed is going to be JD Martinez just like Yolmer is going to be a superstar. You called it.

I think AA is a really big challenge so I don't mind that much, but I do think AAA is the better place to work on his BB rates, I don't think his power is much of a thing that is going to change this year.

Yes, Anthony Coronado was moved from DSL. But also I agree I think sox main concern is cultural assimilation and mental workload, and moving him with other teammates seems more their style especially for a 17 year old. I'd be excited to get more looks for him but they aren't hurting his development leaving him in DSL or anything.

It's crazy how much he has lifted my expectations. I think I would have zeroed in on 28% k rate as the place to be this year, but I remember just wanting him to move his productivity on 0-2 counts as a RH to bad level from awful. Now he is even a good RH htter! Development is a real thing I guess, and the fact that nothing can replicate getting more reps against major league left handers except facing it as much as you can.

The problem is I'm not sure players like playing with Westbrook, as he has had two MVPs leave his side and now Paul George force his trade out. And he was really quite bad last year.

Just judging from Lowe and others, they believe OKC may even need to include a pick to get rid of westbrook. I am really wary of Westbrook for reasons Chisoxfn stated. While 9/10 I am in favor of them being aggressive for a star, he is that 10th.

No, Robles is firmly installed as a major piece of Washington's current run for the playoffs and future. How Houston has treated Tucker is interesting and makes it seem like they would deal him, but they are Houston. I don't see them dealing him for anything other than an elite piece their player scouting loves.

I think the pedestrian returns from Milwaukee, and that milwaukee has been so good at sending out trash in trades makes me look at them skeptically. I love turang. He'd be a great flip piece...I don't see them trading Turang for Colome. I don't personally believe in Dubon. He suddenly had this huge spike in production in the PCL and then with the juiced ball, and even then it's not that impressive. He's a weird one for you. Would you buy low on Travis Shaw?
