  4. The ball climbed the stairs. He taught a baseball how to walk up stairs like it was a velociraptor.
  5. That’s 1.5 runs better than 2 of our starters and 3 runs better than today’s.
  6. Scottie Pippen was not traded for Shawn Kemp. And are you familiar with the 80s celtics and lakers and super teams?

RBI groundout for madrigal (#winner #grinder)
  8. The fact that he has 2 years of control makes me worry that we'd have to actually give something up.
  9. I've been alerted to this wrinkle to the plan: https://www.cbssports.com/mlb/news/orioles-andrew-cashner-indicates-hell-consider-giving-up-baseball-if-hes-traded-at-the-deadline/
  10. Ah, so the nba was less anti competitive than as referenced by it's second rung teams playing each other competitively before getting smoked by the top teams. And this years playoffs, where the first round in the western conference seeing much more competitive 1-8 and 2-7 matchups is an example of how anti competitve it is, because the 3-6 and 4-5 matchups were blow outs (before those teams got into epic next round series).
  11. Every nba playoffs I have to read the same takes from hockey fans and others about how, really, they love basketball, it just used to be so much better, and it is just: - in 00s: all hero ball all the time. No sense of team whatsoever, I don't know what happened. - in 10s: just no where near as physical any more, these guys couldn't have stood a chance back then. I miss when teams had a chance, it's now all 3 ball. blah blah blah.

Madrigal has a .180 iso right now in an incredibly significant sample size so he's basically arrived.

  14. I have an unbelievably charmed life where I never get force fed pnoles tweets while on twitter but for whatever reason I have to see them all the time on soxtalk.
  15. I've talked about this a few times. This rotation is difficult right now. Cashner is not good, he's not terrible, he's that right kinda bad. He's that "what Ivan Nova should have been" kinda bad. He's owed money, he has a vesting option he will not get based on last years work load, and so he should come cheap. And if he does not come cheap than you don't trade for him. Also, this is a great opportunity to mention the James Shields trade. Everyone will be extremely proud of your reference to that trade, and how you are still upset about Tatis, so please do that. Nobody is tired of it. Anyway prove me wrong.

It seems the innovators just have invested more in pushing the analytics teams from just focusing on acquisitions and scouting what's there to identifying good candidates for changing. Now the book does mention the sox positively for investing in 3 hitting coaches, including Matt Lisle. Hopefully he is serving as a conduit who can relay analysis from the rapisodo and edgartronic to the players. But who knows.
  17. Yeah it sucks filtering for catchers because the plate appearances. So...the rays I guess.

    Who else?

Most anyone of note from last year is no longer on DSL so likely in AZ. Getz appears to prefer to move these guys stateside earlier, maybe to start the assimilation process earlier. They have put some resources down there as cultural coordinators so I'm guessing that is. Touching 89 at 16 years old is good on paper.
  20. OK so feasible teams going after catcher Rays Twins Nats if they go on a run Dodgers I'm not sold Dodgers would give up on Barnes/Martin. I'm not convinced sox would trade with twins. That's a pretty limited market.
  21. Well when I read your statement I think "Giolito's numbers going down slightly for half a year may be worth getting a good package back", and that's different than risking Giolitos development. Plus they could just go hard for Grandal in offseason.
  22. One issue is I can't really think of a contender that would want a catcher. If we think of one I could put together a package I'd want. Not a fan of the "top 100 prospect" template because there are many in backend of top 50 I'd want less than some of the guys in the 8-15 range of a team list.
  23. Yes I'm sure he does compliment his teammate.
