my only philosophy on baseball (as a young person) is that old players like colome are useless (as are saves, since I am a statnik) and should be force retired. If that's not possible, flipping them is an okay consolation prize. White sox should seek to ensure their roster is as young player as possible, as the old players may rub off on them and turn them old.

If you trade porter your starting wing is chandler Hutchinson. Lavine is ball dominant too, while surrounding him with carter, Porter, sato is a bunch of players who move the ball and theoretically will spread the floor. it would maximize the Westbrook roster.

Agree completely, though if they seek a trade hopefully it’s around Lavine with supplementary salary in felicio and Dunn. But he’s one of the weakest stars to acquire due to age, mileage, and playing style. But if you can get him without giving up your last three first rounders I guess it’s not terrible. I wouldn’t really go all out for Westbrook though.

I’m not sure the behavioral economics is main driver here, since there was not that much equity built up in Tatis pre trade. The main issue is it was terrible process. It’s easier to live with Matt Davidson not living up to the hope because it was good process. The Sox trading out a young trade chip just one month before apparently deciding to start a rebuild, and when it was clear the team was not viable at time of trade, was poor. Chisoxfn made this case at the time. Now, is this the 99th percentile outcome? Absolutely, but it hurts worse because it was such a pointless trade. It was not Hanley for Beckett.

That said OKC got maybe the best package for a star ever there. That is a ton of stuff. That is all of their draft picks for *after* the contracts of these guys end and the unprotected Heat picks. OKC should probably just trade Russ and get it over with.
