  1. Who cares, we had him for 2.5 more years, that's a long time. I want 2021 to be very competitive, now we need a body to replace him that is more expensive and likely older.
  2. Ugh if they go all college again. After rodon though, definitely feels like they'll try to plug holes.
  3. Who cares, their new front office was hired prior to 2017, they've been on jobs for 2 years and already have a playoff appearance and appear likely to contend for central this year, and are looking like they will be able to be reall solid soon with Kiriloff, lewis and larnach. They aren't the same group now since 2012, and Falvey and Lavine seem to be really smart and experimental. Their team this year is playing really fun interesting ball. Despite a much smaller revenue outlook, they seem like they are just as likely to content for next decade as the white sox.
  4. They could basically try to put together a brewers type rotation of solid top to bottom, hope kopech/cease are better than solid, and have legit depth (6-7 deep). Wood/Odorizzi/Roark would be around that though roark may be cooked. Or they'll sign madbum. They seem to love sinker ballers.
  5. Wheeler is basically rodon but on free agent money. That's a bit scary but the risk they are now needing to take.
  6. They will probably tread in the Rourk, Wood, etc. waters. Jake Odorizzi may be a decent 4-5 signing. He changed his profile this year to be more Four Seam/ Cutter/ Curve which is in line with sox flow. His cutter is a really good pitch. Ugh, this is what I'm excited about. Jake Odorizzi.
  7. So do we think the red sox encourage their pitchers to rest more in between pitches? I can never stay up to finish sox/sox games.
  8. along the same vein: https://www.theringer.com/nba/2019/5/3/18527632/boston-celtics-playoffs-family Hard to read with dry eyes.
  9. So anyway this is a fairly large setback.

I just want one game where we bunt every single time. Not much to ask.
  11. Priester feels like a pirates pick
  12. well, I am disappointed.
  13. Millenial here: I prefer to watch games on my digital device with headphones in, not talking to anyone. Games are too expensive (ESPECIALLY PARKING, HARUMPH), not to mention the mayo on the foods! Plus I like to be taking selfie photography to upload to my friends on a SOCIAL NETWORKING device, and the WiFi at the baseball ball park is TERRIBLE. Also baseball is slow and my attention span is no
  14. #bunteveryatbat
  15. It would save them 2 million which they could bundle up to get to 3.6 million with their second round pick which is about top 20 money to get Priester. But keep in mind there are teams like the diamondbacks with multiple picks to bundle and pitching is VERY thin.
  16. I'm pretty sure they would be pretty excited to be able to see their son play locally if he made it to big leagues. But sox and "underslot" to get a high target HSer when multiple teams have multiple picks? I don't buy it. I know they went under a bit for burger, but this has not been their M.O. and it's really risky if you have a specific target in mind.
  17. I'd like tj sikkema in the third.
  18. Here's my preferred top targets with no consideration for signability because that's hard Blake Walston LHP prep - 6'4, above average breaking ball Seth Johnson RHP Campbell - Big power arm and we have a real lack of stuff in org right now behind cease. Sammy Siani Prep OF - Mikes brother, probably a tough sign? Read he has quick hands and good athlete. Yordis Valdes SS - from Law's chat, said he's one of youngest in draft and a defensive wizard. Brooks Lee SS Prep - high bat speed remarks, flashy. Things I like to read - good bat speed, young, athletic, flashy.
  19. I keep throwing out who I want, but who I think? I think maybe the UMich Pitcher Tommy Henry or (gulp) Logan Wyatt
  20. One thing we know about soxtalk is the community dutifully staying on topic in every thread.
  21. KEITH LAW HATES THE WHITE SOX WITH HIS REASONABLE TAKE
  22. It's just an inconsistent team and when they are playing poorly it will be hard to win any games against any opponent and when they play good it's still only like a 60-70% shot they win. I think probably looking at a 5 game deficit.
  23. Yeah at some point his free fall will stop. I make fun of the obssessive krate stuff but Misner is so thoroughly at that 25% k rate that it's just hard to find many comparable pro players that struck out that much in college (even high k guys).
