  1. I think the only way you feel this way is just quirk of the calendar. Had he been injured at such a time that the start of his rehab was in march, and then in May we heard he was being shut down from fatigue and his velocity wasn't back, you would be concerned. Instead he started rehab in late July, was throwing in AZ in August, goes to AFL in September and has to get shut down. But because all of that was out of site of minor league ball and then the offseason, we can just brush it off. But the guy has been throwing competitively for months.
  2. I really thought raiders would be fine this year, seemed like last year just got away from them. I also thought for a time that Grudens time as a broadcaster connecting with so many in the game he could actually be decent for a while. That stopped when he hired his staff. I really feel for Raiders fans. This is just awful. Ruining your last few years for no reason.
  3. I like Barnwell. If Mitch doesn't progress, Bortles is a comp, but even then Mitch takes care of the ball much better (though could be product of a better oline). But the reason I'm surprised there was a sudden hammer brought down on him is I've actually been encouraged the last 3 weeks even despite the lower comp % last two games, and these are games he became more run heavy. Because though he's taken off, he's taken off walking into the pocket more often. Also the second half of Jets game he was really doing well with pocket forming around him. He has these bad bad quarters but then keeps recovering, so, to me that is big big progress and the kinds that i like to see. Feeling much more positive than ever.
  4. If the sox add him to the 40 man I will be surprised/disappointed.
  5. So, I mentioned Trubisky could be just Bortles if he never develops beyond this. Well, that suddenly (not attributing this to me obviously) became a national "thing" really quickly.
  6. In the hope for the best type lens, that's a pretty good ERA for PCL. Maybe he'll be a junior guerra type success. On the other hand, the dodgers are pretty good at scouting so, Yurchak will be Muncy and Banuelos will be another run of jacob turners.
  7. unbelievable run of breaking news by sleepy harold
  8. However, I really worry that another year trotting out garbage will adversely effect development. I'd much rather have a veteran presence who can perform, and who pushes others to match it, than this 6 pitchers with a 5+ ERA all just saying "well he's having issues too". You can't measure it, but I don't like idea of bookending garbage pitchers around the young guys.
  9. This is just gamesmanship. Heyman is quick to spout off anything an agent or fo tells him. His roundup articles are entertaining but not very predictive. GMs are gonna huff and haw publicly to prevent a bidding war. My guess: it's going to seem like Machado is going to get paid way less at first with early leaks, he'll hold out, and around GM meetings he'll sign a deal less than the crazy numbers some expected last season but much higher than the initial "omg nobody wants to sign him because he didn't run out a double" numbers.
  10. Man, last night was fun. I get so much night to night enjoyment from NBA when bulls can just be competitive and/or not play Monday night or Hawks game. Payne though, i just refuse to believe a waiver PG isn't better than him. Arci clearly better. We waived two better PGs last year in Dinwiddie (actually good) and that other guy (probably bad).
  11. I'm really really excited to see WCJ and Lauri together. It seems like they are going to complement each other so well.
  12. I don't know about that. I did not see tonight but I have seen some moves this year that gave me pause. The stop start acceleration and vertical definitely made his finishing skills way off from 2011 for last many years. Maybe it's finally back.
  13. That said I don't quite understand how out of the timeout Justin Holliday ends up guarding paul milsap. I assume Hutchinson was supposed to be doing it, but that's not a particularly small lineup by denver but it's not a good rebounding one for us.
  14. An absolutely dominant Wendell Carter Jr. game, his offense matched his fantastic defense. 25 pts, 8 reb, 5 asst and 3 blocks. And I thought he had like 10 blocks. He did all of this pretty much within the offense.
  15. The rockets are 1-5. Feels like they are about to take it all out bulls on saturday.
  16. that specific part of the third is where I gave up. For the first half it was like, yeah this is what the best team in league will do to you. That part, was just embarrassing. I think Fred may have even let it happen, like "okay let them do that then let's get their scrubs so we can try to close gap"
  17. Well, i guess I do think he'll be moved. The thing for me is regardless of performance, ny media always talks about how they love Bird. There's been rumors of Frazier being shipped since forever. OTOH, they haven't moved him, and Cashman has just been on an unbelievable roll with trades.
  18. Yankees just don't seem to "dump" or give away players, I have a hard time they would sell low on Bird. They clearly think highly of him and have all the resources in the world to keep him. The dodgers/cubs created a blue print for just keeping surpluses when others thought they should unload for weaknesses. I don't see Yanks offloading young players for no reason.
  19. This is a good post. Sox can't shy away from improving a player that needs to be improved. I think there are signs that Zaleski has been effective with information with pitchers. Their hitters? Well they tried to change Collins and everyone got upset. A bunch in Kanny became more patient. Who knows, I'm not optimistic. I have no idea why when they started rebuild they didn't go get the best development team they could find. For Madrigal though, I'm optimistic if he is given the information that he can like, figure it out on his own. I just think he's the type of player that knows how to develop himself when asked to develop, or play the way the team wants to play when that's what's asked of him.
  20. I don't think it's the defenses fault, I think it's a combination of more and more teams playing the optimal way offensively, teams like the bulls that decided they should go all in to find an average offense by putting atrocious defensive fits together, and tankers. There are no more byron scotts in the league. There are no more weird teams that feast on mid-range jumpers. Some defenses are good, the bulls are not. And it's not all Fred.
