https://twitter.com/nightengalejr/status/1068600588638801925 I find this interesting. Contenders should be all over this after the base stealing specialist was a thing last year.

Sox acquire Alex Colome For Narvaez
One aspect of this deal I like is it's a low-cost barometer of whether Hahn is going to be capable as a GM to build a winner. That said I'm aware we are about to get a bunch of high cost barometers of whether our pro scouting still sucks under Hahn. Colome is probably fine. Last year people thought he'd command Amed Rosario in the winter. Instead he fetched some meh prospects and now a backup catcher. If he returns to 2016 form that's gonna be a big piece.

This is true, also true though is I love leury. Not gonna look it up, but I assume our record with him was like astronomically higher. Leury GOATcia

Cano to Mets deal official
Sorry is the $60 mill confirmed? I thought people still weren't sure if it's 60 mill cash or 60 mill when considering offsets of bruce/swarzak

I am also in favor of just trying to load the dice to make sure we beat SF and NYG. The reason why the bears playoff odds are 97 percent is because of two games on the schedule that are incredibly winnable. Let's make sure we win them.

Cano to Mets deal official
I think Seattle could have gotten more for Diaz from another org, and I think they'd have been wiser to aim at just trying to marginally reduce cano cost through contract swaps. That said, Kelenic + Dunn is pretty good considering previous rumors. They have now traded two of their best pieces and received a top 25 player (whom i'm highly skeptical of) and a few top 100 players (though I am really not sure how much to value the play of players in the first year out of the draft). Underwhelming as far as I'm concerned but certainly could be worse.

Cano to Mets deal official
This deal will greatly affect what else they are able to do. They traded away highly valued, far away talent which is helpful for trades in win now situations. They added to their salary long-term for an owner that, unlike our own who does not spend out of preference, seems to have legitimate cash flow issues consistently. All moves are not equal. It's fine if they wanted to go for it, to go for it targeting a 38 year old and a closer with your most expensive acquisition is likely to be bad.

Rooting for Mets to acquire cano and Diaz because it’s so stupid.

Am I wrong! I was at the San Diego game in 2011 when Bears moved to 7-3 and then Cutler was out for season and bears finished 8-8. Next year we were 7-1 and missed playoffs at 10-6! 2013 they were in drivers seat at 8-6 and could have clinched beating eagles, they lost by 100 points and then the packers won. It's not a good record!

The argument to keep Avi Garcia
Why do we assume Brantley is an overpay before he even signs. He is the type of player that has been severely squeezed last few years.

NFL can NFL though, and the ways this can NFL is if Daniel, still a wildcard, has a meltdown and we don't have the rushing game to pick it up.

I think this is true but also a massive gamble. Lions I think are better than the giants, and had a massive advantage in thanksgiving day at home, but backup QBs can throw up some stinkers and the bears really only one because of a pick six last week.

Pretty nervous. This is kinda a must win for me. You beat SF and NYG, you are in. You lose to NYG and then rams come into town. Lose that, you need to go 2-1 last 3 with games against packers and Vikings.

Sox in on "everyone"
Spreading risk in baseball means getting a lot of bad veterans you should be able to replace internally.

Where do they start the season?
Putting my optimist hat on, The person that makes me optimistic on Collins is Omar Narvaez. Narvaez has a supremely good batting eye. He had zero power (and certainly has a percentage uptick in contact skills, but zero power). Baseball theory would have it that pitchers, knowing he will not chase, but also that he will not punish you, would just attack the zone and he would be helpless. That didn't happen with Narvaez, while not a great offensive player for a while, he still walked, because pitchers aren't THAT accurate. Collins, it would seem, should be even more difficult. If he doesn't chase junk, they should attack zone, but he has more power to make them pay. Mainly, I don't think it's true he won't walk at major league level. I think he will. And he has more power to be more helpful than Narvaez was when he was walking but nothing else. All that, and he still may hit .200 for a while. Chris carter i guess.

Yeah I think Seahawks/Vikes are least probable to happen but seahawks is shaky. edit: and this is largely because seahawks play vikes at seattle.
