Wow, Dante Fowler to the Rams.

Your Offseason Plan
Well, i guess I do think he'll be moved. The thing for me is regardless of performance, ny media always talks about how they love Bird. There's been rumors of Frazier being shipped since forever. OTOH, they haven't moved him, and Cashman has just been on an unbelievable roll with trades.

Your Offseason Plan
Yankees just don't seem to "dump" or give away players, I have a hard time they would sell low on Bird. They clearly think highly of him and have all the resources in the world to keep him. The dodgers/cubs created a blue print for just keeping surpluses when others thought they should unload for weaknesses. I don't see Yanks offloading young players for no reason.

The Moncada / Madrigal Situation
This is a good post. Sox can't shy away from improving a player that needs to be improved. I think there are signs that Zaleski has been effective with information with pitchers. Their hitters? Well they tried to change Collins and everyone got upset. A bunch in Kanny became more patient. Who knows, I'm not optimistic. I have no idea why when they started rebuild they didn't go get the best development team they could find. For Madrigal though, I'm optimistic if he is given the information that he can like, figure it out on his own. I just think he's the type of player that knows how to develop himself when asked to develop, or play the way the team wants to play when that's what's asked of him.

2018-2019 Official NBA thread
I don't think it's the defenses fault, I think it's a combination of more and more teams playing the optimal way offensively, teams like the bulls that decided they should go all in to find an average offense by putting atrocious defensive fits together, and tankers. There are no more byron scotts in the league. There are no more weird teams that feast on mid-range jumpers. Some defenses are good, the bulls are not. And it's not all Fred.

Sox Exercise Jones Option @ $4.65M; Buyout Shields
I'm a bit surprised by Jones. Good for him though.

Your Offseason Plan
I'd be shocked if it's not Phillies. They are actually in the competitive window, they have an owner that spends, they are east coast. They are a team that can handle big money mistakes. Sox will plant their name as a serious contender to placate some fans but no chance they land him.

Explosive Devices Sent to Clintons, Soros and Obama
I think Chris Hayes has a really good faith show and is funny and smart. But the reality is if you only watched 24 hour cable news for information you would probably have the worst perspective of the world's events (skewed toward sensationalism, with the best example being the missing Malaysian Air flight). Newspaper or radio news (your NPR/WGNs etcs) best, and network news probably a good jump below.

Explosive Devices Sent to Clintons, Soros and Obama
It's definitely one of those bizarre components of American society. 24-hour news (which I agree is the worst and most manipulative) is the most influential on what "the debate" is at any given moment, despite very few people actually watching it very much. I think there's an old "drudge report" quality to it, "well if they are fiendishly covering it, there must be something we should stick to there".

Your Offseason Plan
My guess is that a "cooling" campaign was going to come regardless prior to the actual negotiating. Nobody wanted to start at $300 million, and now they have cause. If it wasn't this it would be the pressing to be SS in his last year. That said, his play was maddening. Hard to want to go much more than $240 million if you ask me.

Oh and Hue Jackson is finally out. Would have never guessed after watching Hard Knocks that would have ended poorly.

Trubs started throwing with a lot more "zip" in the second half, he was trying to loft in the first, I think that was part of what improved for him in second half.

Your Offseason Plan
If I was a GM, I would offer Manny more to play 3b than SS. He is less valuable as a SS.

Explosive Devices Sent to Clintons, Soros and Obama
I find it really difficult to assess the actions of the two. One is a single person absolutely able to be responsible for his own rhetoric and actions. The other is a term for a collection of thousands of independently operated web, tv, radio and print outlets. At any one time, any of which may report something poorly but the entire group is apparently responsible. That term is impossible now. It seems most often it's referring to 24 hour news channels. To listen to the president, you'd assume CNN is the center of the media news universe, when the huge huge majority of people really only see CNN when they are in an airport.

White Sox tied for 19th in post Series LV odds
I have to tell you, watching the world series made me feel pretty nervous again about this org's trajectory. The gap between progressive orgs and the white sox seems to be gigantic. Can someone imagine Ricky Renteria managing in the world series? It was easy to imagine the sox being the Royals in 14/15. The last two years, seeing the dominance of the best orgs in baseball battle it out, it's scary.

Re: Trubisky, I'm actually feeling so much better than after the Cardinals game. He used to be on point to start games, then fall apart for the rest and have very meh performances. Now he is actually more volatile, but the highs are higher and lows lower than those first 16 or so games. I like that! I also like that for the last several games he is actually finishing the game on fire rather than completely futile. Last year to start of this year, it seemed impossible that he could put together a game winning drive, now I absolutely believe it. Also yesterday, in the second half there were several passing plays where he stepped into and around in the pocket before delivering a throw. That just was NOT happening in the first 3 games, he would have bailed immediately. His innaccuracy gaps need to be straightened out for him to become great, but his rushing is making up for it. It's "good" rushing too, nothing feels too dangerous about it, he's been good at sliding. That said, if he doesn't clear up the large portions of games he doesn't know how to throw, that's basically Blake Bortles. SO yeah, he needs improvement but I feel good about seeing high ceiling play if only for portions of games.

Your Offseason Plan
No this is same page with me. Development isn’t linear, but last year was a dip. This front office needs to do everything possible to turn that around next year. If they don’t, they should go. It’s not enough to have the right ideas, like “we can’t compete in our situation, let’s use our assets to rebuild”, they have to be able to execute on their ideas. They just need urgency.

11 dead at Pittsburgh synagogue
Okay, in the 50 years before the Texas tower shooting there was routine lynching, firebombs in churches and general terror in black Americans.
