  1. And FWIW Jimmy's use of media isn't that different from LBJ he just isn't Lebron so it doesn't work.
  2. Totally agree with this. Him and wade were garbage with the youth, rondo was great. Its one of the reasons I think Rondo will be great in LA this year, not as a player of course, but as a glue guy to support ball/ingram when lbj gets antsy.
  3. If he starts at 4 Carter Jr needs to be t 5. The reason parker was benched was because Parker/Lopez was so incredibly slow it caused the awful defense in first four games. When Markannen gets back though, you then have Portis as a #3 PF, unless you try him again as a small C where he has not shown to really handle well. Markannen at 5 should be tried more, but comes at cost of WCJ. I like parker as a person, but it's really unlikely this contract ends up paying off, and I'd rather the team have built an identity this year. Hard to do with such a strange fit.
  4. So Parker is now our 3rd string PF and it took 3 preseason games for Fred to find out what garpax should have already known that he is not a 3.
  5. There's nothing they can do about Wiggins. Guy isn't moveable. Guarantee if it was up to thibs he'd trade wiggins and KAT and roll with that 3rd stringer unit, taj, and he'd be on the line with Mike James in a heartbeat.
  6. Gonna be honest, from a distance the Jimmy show is kinda fun.
  7. *licks chops* The bears had about 5 straight years of horrendous injuries that I started to wonder if they'd ever get lucky in opposite way. This year has been a good year for being healthy knock on wood.
  8. Could be, mlb could have a failure to report, could have communicated with the traffickers for players. The SI report indicates mlb itself is being investigated, it's unclear what for.
  9. It's not that I think you are wrong that mlb punishments won't follow, it's just I don't think the precedent you are citing will be what it looks like because MLB itself may have liability.
  10. I do want to stress that a big difference here is that this is an FBI investigation and not an MLB investigation, that the MLB themselves may be under investigation, and so the "punishment" may very well be criminal charges or fines. The response to that would be systematic reform, I feel, not individual team punishment. For mlb to respond to this by releasing the guys from the dodgers contracts doesn't seem to match with the charges, to me at least.
  11. Not now, but it is prorated and I've stopped assuming the nfl cap is a restriction on any one deal.
  12. "But they are going to get that from anyone right now" - guessing this was they are NOT going to get that from anyone. I don't want to trade howard in season, but for the team to work cap wise he's definitely a guy you won't re-sign and bears trading for cheap rookie deals is a good idea. But, I love howard, he plays so hard and doesn't complain. I hope he gets a playoff game just squeeking through a hole that didn't appear to exist and rolling into the end zone for a game clincher.
  13. That's nice to hear about Sosa, we are finally getting notes about his future after two years stateside. He doesn't walk, but he has had a really nice k-rate, and I feel better about a player like that learning to be more selective (which may play for more power). As an org, we are pretty well deep on shortstop but still need anderson to be a star. Anderson Rondon Mendick Mendick to me has a chance to be a saladino. Important only in that the team used to have to pay for saladinos, and now have been finding players like Sally, Mendick, maybe Laz in late rounds. That's good. Sosa Sosa to me is the only interesting SS prospect. Delgado of course could get there if he shows more. He has a nice foundation, is just handling things while young but has a nice hit tool. He could be the one that finds power and takes off. Curbelo/Delgado Nice tools, need production. Curbelo next year will be important. We've had players like Adolfo set back for eyars with injuries get finally healthy and take off, hopefully that happens, he will no longer be the youngest in the league. Delgado, just needs to hold his own. Yrizzari His goal should be utility guy. But if he can't make it to Charlotte in 2020 he should probably convert.
  14. Yeah unlikely but in offseason I could see it. Definitely would require a 2nd round pick. But if you were philly wouldn't you rather go big and get leveon?
  15. I actually think he tries but he basically just really wants to be 1-1 situations with his guy, but no nba offense is just giving you static isos on the wing. So as soon as he gets down on the defensive end and the offense sets up with some screens and movement he just end up WAY out of position, and then he tries to aggressively make up for it and gets himself in WORSE position. There was a point when the d was setting up and lavine lost his man on a sudden screen, where his man came up and was handed the ball and shot a 3. Lavine made the strangest route to the ball he ended up behind his own teammate on the screen, and his response was to push Lopez in the back to "guard" his man. It's just cluelessness combined with overzealousness.
  16. It's not fair to markkanen to put him and lavine in the same sentence. Markkanen gets in bad matchups but tries, Lavine runs around like a chicken with his head cut off. He has just very, very bad feel for nba team defense.
  17. - There may be portions of time where this happens during the course of the program, but "there may be times where it's more expensive than other times" does not tip the scales for me. It will also be asking for temporary revenue from a population that has already benefited vs asking for money to set-up a program they have not experienced. Overall, you think that actually baking in the costs will create more buy-in and make it less vulnerable to cuts in the future. I think that not baking in the costs will create more buy-in and make it less vulnerable to cuts in the future. I think investment in the future should consistently be done by a country, the US controls its monetary supply, and shocks will be inevitable but can be solved relatively easily. - This is a recipe years-long recessions which should not be the goal. Your plan merely prevents a worse downturn, it does not spur enough economic activity in the short term. You want people back to work as soon as possible. - Yes, of sectors that would be responsive to handling demand from sudden short-term stimulus, higher education would be low on the list. All your program argues for in terms of stimulus is in a recession, the government should not shed jobs, that doesn't mean this is a particularly good vehicle for counteracting economic downturns.
  18. 1. No, it makes sense so long as output > costs, and among other things it may lead to increase in birth rate. Costs of course would be cheaper in the future than they are today. Deficits are not inherently bad, especially when used to invest in future like this. Obviously, this goes against CW where all can agree that the deficit is bad, but it's more accurate that they can be bad (so can surpluses). 2. No way, of activities to spend money on in a recession, you are: - Removing people from the eligible workforce for at least 2 years - Creating demand in a sector that is terrible at scaling, it is a roundabout way of creating construction projects for a short term capacity problem Just give people money, create capital projects and other public works to counteract demand shortfall.
  19. I think Curbelo will be a 3b, but I'm also of the opinion that we should just wait until they are moved until we worry about it. All projections are inexact in scouting, but the body type projections seem the most frivolous imo.
  20. If you believe paying to educate people because an educated work force will provide long term economic benefits (i.e. growth) it makes plenty of sense to do that on deficit spending. Deficit spending on medicare? Less of a reason. And paying for education in a demand shortfall would not be an optimal use of resources anyway if your goal was to spend to cover the shortfall. Actually that seems like a terrible idea, it may be popular though.
  21. D'oh, Carranza = Maldonado. So funny how 3rd day of the draft I'm obsessed with the guys and so pumped then two weeks later I can't name any of them. And I forgot curbelo, yeah this is pretty decent.
  22. I would say that education or childcare would be one of the better things to deficit spend on.
