  1. Liberatore actually signed around slot which is interesting.,
  2. To the question of who the sox are targeting, I suggested Wolf and Spillane. I think they are players the sox may pick today.
  3. I'd be shocked if Madrigal was less than slot, and just judging by previous drafts, I doubt Walker was cheaper.
  4. Nice resource of day 2 names available for free here: https://www.fangraphs.com/blogs/day-one-draft-recap/ (end of recap)
  5. This third round pick will be interesting. Maybe we go big and get a guy we're surprised we could sign, but if not in third I don't see one we are super pumped by for rest of day (like Abbott but above slightly). But I'm expecting college hitter or pitcher. Maybe Tristan Beck?
  6. I'm never guessing a high schooler ever again with this team. I do think Spillane and Wolf are two players we know they scouted, that's good speculation.
  7. This, along with the quote from madrigal that he'd play anywhere including picking up an outfield glove (no word on catching mitt), is why I wanted Madrigal and was not deterred by the defensively limited stuff. It's not only his instincts and speed being plus, it's his baseball IQ and attitude make him prime to be the guy that plays anywhere and is a spark plug. I am SO excited for him. Hope he doesn't fail, then it will prove once more I don't know anything.
  8. I think you push Basabe without reservations. He'll struggle, but he's shown he can come back with experience. Now with actual offensive prospects in AA, that park doesn't seem near the death valley it once was.
  9. Thanks, podcast links are such a pain to find. Stupid apps!
  10. The Garfein interview with his college coach gets you PUMPED
  11. Yeah. I also like the Louisville guys wolf and stowers. gerber and Spillane from U if I. Montas de oca
  12. I think the diminishing returns may be losing out on what mlb value players like Polo or Fisher could provide. Talking about mostly 40 man depth but they are going to constantly be push d around instead of developing slowly. Situations like Gonzalez need to happen less though.
  13. Doubt he'll get drafted before 10th round now. He's gotta be going to school.
  14. Luis Gonzalez can play a true center at least.
  15. I'm sure we'll here there was a guy they had a deal on drafted just before them.
  16. Yeah, I guess, but there are players that can develop both. You can't have an outfield of daniel palka's/nicky delmonicos.
  17. Not really crazy about it. Does not add athleticism or big tools. School: Oklahoma Ht: 5-11 | Wt: 190 | B-T: L-L | Commit/Drafted: Never Drafted Scouting Report: Walker is one of the better pure hitters in the draft class and is in the midst of a career-best season with Oklahoma this spring, hitting .373/.469/.634 through 41 games with 11 home runs and a 13 percent walk rate. Each of those numbers are career-highs for Walker and speak to his impressive hand-eye coordination and pitch recognition from the left side. The bat will get Walker drafted because he lacks a true standout plus tool—unless a club puts a 60 on his bat, which is tough to do but might make some sense in Walker’s case—as a corner outfielder without blazing speed or a big arm. At just 5-foot-11, 190 pounds, it is difficult to project much more than average power for Walker, though he has already hit double-digit home runs this spring and hit seven in 53 games with a wood bat in the Northwoods League during the summer of 2016. Speaking of his wood bat track record, Walker has that as well, hitting .406/.479/.557 in the aforementioned Northwoods League, .280/.330.400 in a brief eight-game stint in the Cape Cod League last summer and an even more impressive .333/.417/.514 with two home runs and a team-best five doubles in 20 games with Team USA. Walker might not have an immensely high ceiling thanks to his lack of tools and corner profile, but college hitters who perform well seemingly always go high and Walker is among the safer bets in the class to have some sort of major league impact.
