Not just you. Would be surprised if Narvaez is one of our catchers up next year. His lefty bat isn’t worth it.

The White Sox have lost the most strikes in baseball
I've wanted a good defensive catcher for the young pitchers consistently, and obviously you hoped Castillo's improvement worked there. But it's bad and a bit counterintuitive. We are giving extended tryouts to maybe 2 backup catchers at the expense of the confidence of our young pitchers.

2018 Celebrity Death thread
It's interesting as you get older and celebrities that impacted your life pass away, there's definitely more of a connection and shock. Impacted would have sounded funny to me years ago, and maybe this is hyperbole, but it's hard to think of a celebrity that more embodied culture/lifestyle aspirations of at least peers of mine. The way people traveled and dined and went out and thought about experiences seemed to change either because of him or he was on the forefront of articulating it. Sad. Depression is just brutal. I'll never forget this article by Dave Weigel. I think about it every time an ending like this happens: http://www.slate.com/blogs/weigel/2014/08/12/calling_all_sad_clowns.html

How do the newly drafted players fit into the white sox top prospect list?
Hostetler said they didn't really consider the system as a prime motivator early on, but that he is so advanced now means we really will run into an issue. Can't remember where I read it but soemone said he will just mash low-a type leagues before he is challenged.

2019 MLB draft thread
I'm sorry, I completely read that incorrectly, my bad.

2019 MLB draft thread
Foolish? Madrigal also has the "benefit" of having missed soem games this year that will allow him time to play maybe even in AZ or at least not as exhausted as a guy like burger. He's on the fast track but what if he twists his ankle? Everything needs to be perfect for late 2019.

2019 MLB draft thread
Rutschman being drafted in 2019 after a certain CWS playoff, and somehow making it to Chicago in 2020 would be pretty unlikely.

White Sox select Nick Madrigal with 4th overall pick
Yeah, although it's a fairly old group. But 2 years in a row now. Big fan of Jirschele, and he may be more of the modern manager that is an extension of the front office/org. Though not sure sox org is set-up to take advantage of that.

White Sox select Nick Madrigal with 4th overall pick
2 things would need to happen: - Improve natural strength (Some improvement expected, whether it's too marginal to matter we won't know) - Improve pitch selection - He can hit basically anything now, he'll have to learn which pitches he can drive and reduce some pitches he can just poke. This should play hand in hand with increasing his walk rate.

White Sox select Nick Madrigal with 4th overall pick
That's not my point. He threw out 8 HRs in 3 seasons to make it sound absurd he could hit 15 in one, but he'll likely get more PAs in 1 health MLB season at the top of the order. Madrigals power will have to improve, but it's not some astronomical amount of improvement to hit 15.

Well done. You figure in a farm system like ours you don't want more than your first 3 round picks in the top 20. Still just not that thrilled with Walker.

6/6- White Sox at Twins, 7:10
To be honest I find Narvaez and Smith fairly interchangeable, they aren’t very good but I’ll take Smith more this year.

6/6- White Sox at Twins, 7:10
No, it’s cause he bats left handed, and Castillo bats right handed.
