Sorry Rex, you're not going to see an Adam vs. JJ matchup this season, maybe next year in the nba.

QUOTE(Chisoxfn @ Feb 12, 2006 -> 01:40 AM) I'm rooting for the Valley to get 5 teams in. I think all of those teams are capable of beating one of the teams from the major conferences. Hell, they've already proven it since quite a few teams in the valley have wins over major conference teams like Iowa, Indiana and others. I think one of my favorite things about college basketball is seeing the upsets in the tourney and seeing how far those cinderella's can go (well aside from watching my team play a game or two in the tourney; Hopefully). Iowa was #9 in RPI this week. My guess is they will stay around that area despite a loss to NU (thanks to the road win against IU). I think it'd be pretty damn sweet to get 5 in. After today, 4 is pretty close to a lock unless one team totally collapses. The teams in the valley just play good basketball, the top 4 are all where they are because they play outstanding defense. All 4 of those teams are capable of winning a game or two in the tourny imo. Missouri State can also win a game in the tourny if they get in. EDIT: Also, espn had you guys at 10 in the rpi as of today(before the IU game).

So with the Bears win over UNI, there is now a real possibility the valley can get 5. We're going to have 5 in the top 35 in rpi for sure come tomorrow and maybe 5 in the top 30 depending on how far Missouri State jumps up. I believe in like the last 10 years, the highest rated rpi team to be left out is 34.

f*** yeah, UNI goes down and SIU back in a 4 way tie for the mvc lead . Each team has 3 conference games left, Creighton still plays Wichita State on Tuesday and we still play UNI in Carbondale the last game of the year. Good Stuff.

Unf***inreal. Missouri State up 1 with 18 secs to go gets it to Blake Ahearn who is a 94 percent ft shooter, for some f***in reason he throws a pass and throws it away. UNI has a chance to win now. God damn it.

QUOTE(Chisoxfn @ Feb 11, 2006 -> 08:33 PM) They need to schedule more tough games late in the season to help prepare them for the tourney. Their conference isn't as bad as some of you say (last year St. Mary's was a pretty strong club), but without them its just a bit better than the Big West. Here's a question, could the Zags enter a bigger conference. Maybe find a way into the Pac 10 to play basketball (I know its highly unlikely) but having a tougher schedule could make them so much more ready for the big games because I do think they are one of the better teams in teh country, but I agree with your assesment on them not going deep. That said with Batista and Morrison they got as good of a 1-2 as anyone. Its just the lack of tight games and how to finish those type of games that will kill them come tourney time when aside from the 1st round (well most of the time for top 1-3 seeds) you are playing a pretty damn good team every game. I've heard that Calipari and Few have talked about scheduling a game with each other late in the season for that exact reason that you talked about, makes a lot of sense if you think about it. My problem with the zags is their lack of caring on defense. They are as talented as anyone in the country on offense but when you don't care about the defensive side of the ball you just aren't going to go very far.

QUOTE(Chisoxfn @ Feb 11, 2006 -> 08:24 PM) Seriously, I'm jealous. I think they have as good of fan support as any team in the country (in terms of at games). Obviously there are tons of teams with more overall fans, but Zag fans are passionate and the students are at all the games. I have absolutely no problem with their fans, I have a problem with their team. They won't make it to the second weekend come tourny time.

QUOTE(whitesoxfan101 @ Feb 11, 2006 -> 04:17 PM) (but that's good enough to mean the Big 10 is the best league in the NCAA, which says a lot about the NCAA). They might be the deepest league when comparing good teams to the amount of teams in the league, as far as final four contenders go, the big east is superior to the big 10.

QUOTE(greasywheels121 @ Feb 11, 2006 -> 03:44 PM) It's interesting though. Last year, everyone's saying how the Big Ten's down, and there's 2 final four teams. This year, everyone's saying the Big Ten is one of the elite conferences, and we're not expecting many teams in our conference to go deep. Weird. Top heavy last year. No depth but two very good teams. This year there is a lot of depth and no elite teams.

I'm going to predict a psu win, considering the bottom half of the big 10>then the top half.

QUOTE(aboz56 @ Feb 11, 2006 -> 03:27 PM) Hello, My name is Drew Neitzel. If I was 10% the point guard that Mateen Cleaves was, my team could win the Big 10. Since I am not, we constantly get beat by teams that shouldn't beat us. Now excuse me while I let some P.O.S. named Boone beat my ass all day. That is all. Welcome to Soxtalk.
