QUOTE(Jimbo's Drinker @ Feb 8, 2006 -> 11:42 PM) I believe KU is definitely a top 10 team at this point. Rush, Chalmers and Robinson are dangerous together. They also have the top defensive squad in the nation, at least fg against % Self is really showing his true colors. Rock Chalk Kansas looks good as of late no doubt. Top ten?? Nu-uh.

Twins are better than the Indians, White Sox, if..
QUOTE(witesoxfan @ Feb 8, 2006 -> 03:43 PM) So do you look for the team with the fewest ifs, or the team who will likely end up fulfilling the most ifs at season's end? One could make the argument that the Blue Jays have fewer ifs than the Sawks or Yanks...but they are picked almost universally to finish 3rd. Are we looking at one of the most underrated and overlooked teams in the league in Toronto, even with all the friggin noise they made in the offseason, or are the Yankee and Sawks offenses just that good? Or is the East Coast Hype Machine just working their magic with the Sawks and Yanks again? I think it's more like: They're the yanks and the sawx, they both have to be in the playoffs. I had the Jays pegged for 2nd in the east but with the addition of Bengie I can easily see them winning that thing. I would not be surprised at all to see a postseason this year minus both New York and Boston.

Twins are better than the Indians, White Sox, if..
QUOTE(WilliamTell @ Feb 8, 2006 -> 01:44 PM) Wow that's a lot to have happen. Why don't they just say if the Twins win every single game, they'll win the World Series. Meh, you can pretty much throw out a bunch of ifs for every team, every year.

QUOTE(WilliamTell @ Feb 8, 2006 -> 01:50 PM) Right now they're 39-8, going 67-15 is what I think they'll end up being. Even if they do rest some players, they'll still win a good portion of games. Finishing 28-7 still would be a rapid pace to finish. But I don't think they'll have any less than 65 wins and I'm guessing 67. Detroit will win 60-65, I've been saying that all year and I'm sticking by it.

QUOTE(Brian @ Feb 7, 2006 -> 10:18 PM) This just in from Carbondale, Rowand44 won't stop hugging Randall Falker. That was really all Mullins and Randal with the nice finish. Anyways, the team play tonight was pathetic. The first half and first few minutes of the 2nd was actually a nice change of pace, more running then usual and not as well...sucky on offense. Missouri State goes to a zone and we act like we've never seen one before. You haven't seen a bad offense until you see SIU play against a zone defense, it was disgusting. Thankfully the d is one of the tops in the nation. On a side note JT didn't play tonight with the flu yet was at the arena. Just get him ready for Creighton on Saturday which is another big game. As disappointing as we played today, we gutted it out and won which was a must win, not bad against a pretty solid team.

So Missouri State comes here to Carbondale tonight in which is an absolutely huge game. In all the projected brackets I've seen as of this week we're one of the last 4 in and in most of them Missouri State is one of the last 4 out. This game could go a long way in deciding who is the 4th team to get in from the mvc if there is a 4th.

McCarthy to start the season in bullpen
QUOTE(Balta1701 @ Feb 7, 2006 -> 12:57 PM) He also was throwing like 1-2 changeups a game in his first stint up. He can say all he wants about his arm angle...but if he doesn't throw that changeup, he's a fastball/curveball pitcher, and he won't win like that. That's why he wasn't throwing his change at all. His arm angle was f***ed meaning he couldnt get the right release point on his change and it would get no where near the zone. If that pitch isn't around the zone it's not going to be effective.

QUOTE(whitesoxfan99 @ Feb 7, 2006 -> 01:21 AM) What pisses me off even more is that the ref who made the call was standing 25 feet away from the play. That makes two of us. The ref furthest from the play makes the damn call, unreal.
