  1. Pitt holds off WVU with just unbelievable d. Gansey and Pittsnogle could do nothing at all tonight. Very impressive. EDIT: By the way, Pittsnogle was 0-12 from the field and had 0 points.
  2. UCLA holds Wash St. to 30 tonight.
  3. QUOTE(q\/\/3r+y @ Feb 9, 2006 -> 09:38 PM) 84368 different players could have been acquired. He put up a .746 ops this year which is just disgusting from a player that was our three hole hitter the majority of the season. I believe williams just reacquired him because he liked his attitude when we traded for him before and was familar with him. Overall he played s***ty but we ended up with a world series championship so i am not gonna complain much . 23 homers, 87 rbi's. OPS ain't everything. He also was the only hitter in the middle of the order who did anything at the beginning of the season, him, tad and pods kept this o going at hte beginning of the season. Like I said, no Carl=no championship.
  4. QUOTE(ZoomSlowik @ Feb 9, 2006 -> 08:38 PM) or play some phenomenal defense. Which they always do. I will say I agree though, OSU is the better team.
  5. QUOTE(Jordan4life_2006 @ Feb 9, 2006 -> 08:37 PM) Ritchie was garbage. Everybody knows that. Everett was a central figure on a World Series championship team. Thome and Vazquez have more than proven themselves over the years. I know Carl wasn't the most popular player on this board but no Carl=No Championship.
  6. QUOTE(OldSox2 @ Feb 9, 2006 -> 08:19 PM) On the negative side we got Ritchie, Everett twice, and Thome/vazquez and gobs of payroll. You mentioned Fogg, but he wasn't the best pitcher we gave up in that deal. On the positive side we have Freddy. Cause Carl was absolutely horrible. Thome and Vaz have also been given quite the chance to prove their worth.
  7. QUOTE(Balta1701 @ Feb 9, 2006 -> 07:52 PM) I'm almost certain Bobby at least has both a changeup and a slider in his arsenal. Until last year he was a starter. The Sox have been trying to make him into a fastball/curveball pitcher IIRC, which if he's only pitching 1 inning and he has that fastball hitting 99-100 is not a bad idea IMO. You're right. He has them he just doesn't use them.
  8. Bucky going to pick up a huge W.
  9. QUOTE(Tannerfan @ Feb 9, 2006 -> 07:38 PM) Because I have no knowledge about how to pitch, which is harder to learn, a wicked curve like you describe, or a change like Buehrle's? Eh, it's going to depend on the guy. I would probably say all things considered a change would be harder to learn. To me, all Bobby needs is his fastball and curve to be absolutely dominate, I don't want him to try and learn another pitch before he harnasses his control with his two dominators. If he can consistantly get that nasty break on that curve and keep that fastball up, he's not going to be touched in this league.
  10. QUOTE(Tannerfan @ Feb 9, 2006 -> 07:30 PM) A 70mph change like Gagne's is exactly what I'd love to see. It seems the hitters with the game on the line in the 9th would be so off balance with a pitch like that after a 100mph fastball. Bobby would own the league. If Bobby can consistantly get that big break on his yacker he'll own the league anyways.
  11. Bobby has a change he just doesn't use it much and he really doesn't need to. He doesn't need to mix that curve in more often to be fully effective. The one other thing he had problem with at the beginnign of his stint was getting the heater up. He did that a bit better in the playoffs but that's still something he has to work on.
  12. Um..OSU has hit 9 of their last 10 3's.
  13. BOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO. The only thing worse then this is when you guys made snb a mod.
  14. QUOTE(IlliniKrush @ Feb 9, 2006 -> 02:37 PM) I definitely do Then maybe I'm just retarded and forgot. Don't comment on that by the way.
  15. QUOTE(Palehosefan @ Feb 9, 2006 -> 02:31 PM) lol yeah I know. But still, alot of little kids love JJ Redick. Do you really want to see them walking around imitating that sign? Can you imagine the outrage if Rashad had made that sign instead of "just" the diamond sign that Jay-Z used? People called Rashad a thug for that action, and nothing is said about JJ, pretty funny/odd. Once again I understand what you're saying but the shocker sign is becoming more common around colleges and high schools, you'll see it everywhere. To be honest, I don't even remember the Rashad episode so I don't think it was to big of a deal.
  16. QUOTE(Palehosefan @ Feb 9, 2006 -> 02:26 PM) It's totally normal for the Wichita State Shockers to throw the sign, but for a Duke player to make the sign after a 3? It doesn't make much sense. Ya, I gotcha. I just don't think it's a big deal at all, trying to find a story when there isn't one, damn unc fans.
  17. QUOTE(whitesoxfan101 @ Feb 9, 2006 -> 02:25 PM) It's not a big deal, but it's pretty gross and at the same time, this would get a lot more attention if J.J.'s skin were a bit darker. I don't know if I agree with that.
  18. QUOTE(Palehosefan @ Feb 9, 2006 -> 02:18 PM) More fun from JJ Redick. Here was his gesture after his 3. And here's what it means, Hanover shocker Yet nothing will ever be made of it, and Rashad McCants was a thug because he threw up Jay-Z's "diamond" symbol after 3's. Nice. Ah cmon now, it's not a big deal. That sign is shown a ton, go to a Wichita State game and you'll see everyone doing it, hell..my im bball team did it all the time last year(we were the shockers). No biggy.
  19. So, a month from Sunday is Selection Sunday. I can't wait.
  20. QUOTE(whitesoxfan101 @ Feb 9, 2006 -> 12:24 AM) Washington sucks, and LSU lost to "overhyped valley team" Northern Iowa AT HOME. Also, Duke won't last long in March, Georgetown is going to need quite a favorable bracket, and Michigan State still doesn't play enough defense. But hey, thanks for playing. I'm with you for most of those. I do believe LSU is damn good though, thanks for defending the valley though. Agreed on Duke and MSU, Gtown is a team I do believe can go far in march though. EDIT: Want to add about Washington, I'd be pretty shocked if they last past round 1. Obviously the brackets can change that thought process but they aren't good at all imo.
  21. QUOTE(Jimbo's Drinker @ Feb 9, 2006 -> 12:08 AM) ive seen the big 4 or 5, not that impressed Any teams you are impressed with not named Kansas?
  22. QUOTE(Jimbo's Drinker @ Feb 8, 2006 -> 11:52 PM) not one valley team will sniff the sweet 16, yawn. only wich state because Turgeon is a jayhawk. How many teams in the valley have you seen play?
  23. QUOTE(whitesoxfan101 @ Feb 8, 2006 -> 11:45 PM) Well considering you play in a league inferior to The Valley, I'm not sure what to think of all your wins. But hey, if you want to continue your drug habit and think your a top 10 team with a great coach, go ahead. Just don't say I didn't warm you when you lose in the 1st or 2nd round of the dance. Pssh, the valley is the best conference in basketball including the nba.
