  1. Wowza. The Mets' pursuit of Billy Wagner may have paid off, as several sources are saying a deal could be announced as soon as tomorrow. Mets GM Omar Minaya has apparently offered a four-year, $40 million contract to Wagner, a deal that the Phillies are not expected to match.
  2. QUOTE(DBAH0 @ Nov 22, 2005 -> 06:09 AM) From today's Newark Stark Ledger; Very interesting. On a sidenote, get your ass on aim, I'm lonely.
  3. QUOTE(Jeckle2000 @ Nov 22, 2005 -> 01:43 AM) Some of you need to be beat over the head with the reality stick... Most of you want to get rid of Rowand... (because he sucks :banghead ) Keep Crede (because he's the greatest third basemen ever) and start Brian Anderson (who is a baseball God and can't hit less then .300 if he tried) It's more likely... We trade Rowand... he goes on to win a gold glove (especially if he's a Yankme)... Crede hits .250 next year if he's lucky... and Anderson somewhere in the .230-.240 range... You can have my soxtalk name if you really want it.
  4. QUOTE(redandwhite @ Nov 22, 2005 -> 01:00 AM) You can't build Championship teams with your heart. Kenny Williams knows that. Bill Mueller will be contacted. If you're implying that I want to keep Joe cause I like him well your off base, not sure if you're saying that or not though. I could care less what players are on this team as long as they're winners and for the most part good guys or what not. I personally would rather have Joe at 3rd and if Joe's back is healthy I'm sure kenny would too.
  5. QUOTE(southsideirish71 @ Nov 22, 2005 -> 12:54 AM) Credes problem is he is too streaky of a hitter. Thank god that he had a hot streak when he did. Talk about great timing. When he is hot, he looks great. But that is for a week or so. Then of course when he forgets it and gets lost, then he looks terrible. If Joe was more consistant I would have no problems. But his lows are so bad he looks as if he he close his eyes an make better contact. You're right, he's always been a streaky hitter, however he was pretty much awesome for 2 straight months to finish off the season which is really he hasn't done all that much. As much as I like Mueller I'd rather have Joe's glove and power as a starting 3rd baseman.
  6. QUOTE(redandwhite @ Nov 22, 2005 -> 12:51 AM) Bill Mueller is not a second baseman. Is he a butcher there?
  7. QUOTE(southsideirish71 @ Nov 22, 2005 -> 12:48 AM) Check their stats, clap clap clap. Bill Mueller .786 ZR, RF 2.62, .972 FP vs Joe Crede ..799 ZR, RF 2.72, .971 FP Bill is not a butcher at 3rd, Joe maybe better. But for the more consistant offense, and left handed stick. Its not like we are putting Ross Gload over at 3rd with a right handed glove. Never said he was a butcher at 3rd but Joe is significantly better. Add that to the fact that Joe has more power and might have found his swing in the playoffs...I'll take me chances with Crede. I'm a big Mueller fan too.
  8. QUOTE(southsideirish71 @ Nov 22, 2005 -> 12:31 AM) Bill Mueller who hit .295 and has an OBP of .369 would be a backup to Joe Crede who hit .252 with an OBP of .303??? Some people need to put down the Rally Crede pipe a few times. De Fense Clap Clap.
  9. QUOTE(CWSGuy406 @ Nov 22, 2005 -> 12:22 AM) Mueller would be nice to have as a guy to spell Crede and Iguchi -- he did play 2B not so recently, correct? Or is that just Bellhorn? If he did play 2B -- and came for $3-4 million, I wouldn't mind it. Ozzie plays his backups enough to the point where we should have a solid bench. I think he'd get enough starts for it to be worth it. Of course -- I'm not sure that he can play 2B, and I doubt he'd come so cheap. He played 5 games at 2nd last year.
  10. QUOTE(witesoxfan @ Nov 22, 2005 -> 12:15 AM) I love Mueller...but not as a backup, and I'd rather have Crede starting over Mueller. I also don't think you can trade the playoff hero unless there were to be some sort of problem elsewhere with him...like for instance, contractual negotiations...and even then, I'm not sure you can. I wouldn't be a huge fan of signing Mueller...I'll say that at the very least. If the Sox do sign Mueller it's cause of Joe's back. There have been talks that upper management was worried about his back and that's why Mueller has come up.
  11. Boston still has a lot of work to do. Definitely a good trade here...but even with Beckett their rotation is still a mess as well as their bullpen.
  12. QUOTE(Palehosefan @ Nov 22, 2005 -> 12:05 AM) I don't see him being dealt Agreed, I don't see him going anywhere.
  13. QUOTE(ChWRoCk2 @ Nov 21, 2005 -> 08:45 PM) hey shut the f*** up, my team the packers are playin, and r gonna win and will catch the bears A Bears win or Packers loss makes that impossible now.
  14. I'm very excited for this. Can't wait to get it in.
  15. QUOTE(witesoxfan @ Nov 21, 2005 -> 11:29 PM) You don't trade the best player in the NBA. Duncan ain't going anywhere. Anyways, I agree with the premise of what you said, dealing KG is just stupid and brian....Tyson plus Ben for KG is a no brainer. It would take more then that.
  16. QUOTE(Kalapse @ Nov 21, 2005 -> 11:28 PM) This is true, I still don't like Bill Mueller. The only problem is there's really no other decent insurance policy for Crede out there other than Bill. I guess if Joe's back is really a problem we could do a lot worse than Bill Mueller. I've always been a fan of Mueller's bat. That being said I'd rather have Joe be our starting 3 bagger but if his back is a problem then this is definitely something to look into.
  17. It's been said that our management is a bit worried about Joe's back.
  18. QUOTE(qwerty @ Nov 21, 2005 -> 10:45 PM) I thought you were not gonna talk about this topic much? A thread should never be 22 pages about juan pierre unless we acquire him. Thanks for contributing to the thread.
  19. QUOTE(whitesoxfan99 @ Nov 21, 2005 -> 10:39 PM) Anyone else watch that abortion of a basketball game between KU and Zona? Easily one of the worst basketball games I have ever seen. Might as well have been watching the And 1 tour without the tricks and dunks. That game was disgusting. I don't think I can explain it any better then that.
  20. QUOTE(Palehosefan @ Nov 21, 2005 -> 01:45 PM) Chaminade vs. #4 (at the moment) Michigan State - 2:30 (eastern) ESPN2, Ugly game, unless cramps play a factor again. But I don't expect this game to be within 30 points. #9 Gonzaga vs. #24 Maryland - 4:30 ESPN2, Maryland will take this game. Without Turiaf, the Zags don't have much inside. MD has more depth and better talent overall. Unless the Zags go nuts from outside, MD should win by 10+. #14 West Virginia vs. #2 Texas - 7:00 ESPN2, should be an ugly game. Pittsnogle can't handle Aldridge down low, nobody can stop Gibson on the WV roster. Pittsnogle will get his points from outside, but the game shouldn't be close. #20 Iowa vs. #8 Kentucky - 9:00 ESPN2, I like UK here, even without Morris. Rondo and Alleyne will do a great job defensively on Horner and Brunner respectively. Joe Crawford will outgun Adam Haluska. I do think this will be the best game of the day, along with Kansas and Arizona. #10 Arizona vs. Kansas - 9:00 ESPN, Arizona lost alot inside when Frye left, and lost alot outside when Stoudemire left. I see Kansas with the early upset here. You will see some real nice freshmen going at it, Marcus Williams at Arizona, though less heralded than the KU frosh, will be a very good one. Arkansas vs. #3 Connecticut - 11:30 ESPN2, yuck, thats all you can say about this one, yuck. Arkansas might stay with them early, but UConn's talent will outclass them by the 2nd half. I declare these predictions horrible.
  21. QUOTE(THEWOOD @ Nov 21, 2005 -> 09:40 PM) I know this...but is it "official"? Has anyone else actually heard this stated anywhere? I think Brooks knows what he is talking about.
  22. QUOTE(JimH @ Nov 21, 2005 -> 09:05 PM) Keith I never said they had a pesky offense last year. I said a pesky offense is a winning formula, when combined with other elements. Their offense frequently struggled last year, it was well documented on this site. And since idiot White Sox management determined the hitting coach won't be fired it must have been the talent level. Guillen believes their offense will be better with more speed at the top of the lineup and by dropping Iguchi down lower in the order. I'm simply commenting on what I believe they may do based on Guillen's comments. Agreed. Also, right now I'm pretty much go along with everything they do this offseason and not complain about anything. Let Kenny and Ozzie put their type of team together, it seemed to work last year.
  23. QUOTE(GreatScott82 @ Nov 21, 2005 -> 03:42 PM) I dunno im probably overthinking this situation. ^
  24. QUOTE(RockRaines @ Nov 21, 2005 -> 03:37 PM) Yes, that is correct. Of course we are talking about when Juggs said JP in right field, which would mean you would compare JP's arm and assists with that of Jermaine Dye. Your comparison was good and all, just didnt fit the argument, thanks. My fault, I didnt think anyone would argue Juan in rf. I apologize.
  25. QUOTE(Felix @ Nov 21, 2005 -> 03:25 PM) Your realize that speed means nothing if you can't get good jumps, right? Can I ask you how many times you've watched Juan play cf? Do you know for a fact he doesnt get good jumps?
