  1. QUOTE(Jeckle2000 @ Nov 11, 2005 -> 07:13 PM) Wow... just wow... If you learned to read I said he managed to get on somehow either with a walk or a hit every game in the post season... POST SEASON his OBP wasn't .329... Correct...it was .333
  2. QUOTE(nitetrain8601 @ Nov 11, 2005 -> 06:00 PM) Equal. Exactly. Which means that Anderson projects to be not much worse than Rowand. His defense is as good if not better than Rowand's too. I'm not saying he'll hit 40 HR's, but the fact that we have Anderson, makes Rowand expendable. That's the whole point, IF we can make Aaron the center piece of a deal for a big bat he is expendable because of Anderson. Don't get me wrong, I love Aaron and don't think he needs to be traded or anything like that, I want him to stay but he makes the most sense to trade because he has value and because of BA.
  3. QUOTE(beck72 @ Nov 11, 2005 -> 04:20 PM) The sox paying $5 mill for a long reliever next yr doesn't make much sense Ya, well it's going to happen. The two year contract was obviously not the best of Kenny's moves but he wanted that 5th starter and atleast we had a major league starter for the majority of last year. The Duke proved he can be a pretty solid reliever, he might end up being some sort of set up man next year, wouldn't surprise me at all. I am almost positive though that he'll be here, he'll be a big part of the pen and the 6th starter in 06. Whether any of us think it's the right move or not that is what is most likey going to happen.
  4. QUOTE(Jeckle2000 @ Nov 11, 2005 -> 04:18 PM) you'll all be the first ones complaining when him and Joe Crede are competing to see who can get to the mendoza line first in April... This coming from the person who want absolutely ape s*** on Gload cause he made one error. Nobody is demanding we trade Aaron but he might be the best trade chip for a big bat because of Anderson.
  5. QUOTE(qwerty @ Nov 11, 2005 -> 04:12 PM) That's mostly the rowand slurrrper. Ha, ya, but that just kind of reminded me that some want the sox to make huge changes because of the 03 Angels, those type of things make no sense to me.
  6. QUOTE(Jeckle2000 @ Nov 11, 2005 -> 04:08 PM) Let Brian Borchard 2K6 Anderson stay in the minors... Joe Borchard was going to be a stud too... remember him... So forgive me if i'd rather not keep the underpaid guy who busts his ass every game and has never hit below .270 with gold glove defense.... AND IS PROVED!!!! Brian Borchard can stay in the minors... Trade him.... BUT DON'T TRADE OUR PROVEN TALENT TO MAKE ROOM FOR A ROOKIE!!!! NOT TO SAVE A FEW MILLION DOLLARS!!!! FOR A 7th starter we don't need... It's honestly so ridiculous that people are down on Anderson cause Borchard has been a bust. Anderson isn't Borchard, every team has busts and every team has guys that make it big, to not want Anderson to get an opportunity because of Borch is completely retarded.
  7. QUOTE(qwerty @ Nov 11, 2005 -> 04:05 PM) If he cannot throw 120 innings next year i hope they cut him. He is potentially a big waste of a roster space in more ways than one. He's going to be in the bullpen, good chance he doesn't get to 120 innings.
  8. QUOTE(Felix @ Nov 11, 2005 -> 04:03 PM) Remember, this team is also built around the clubhouse attitude. Rowand is a great team player, and one of the favorites in the clubhouse from what I've read. Kenny made a huge deal about not messing with chemistry at the trade deadline, and it worked out for him. I don't really understand why he would trade a clubhouse leader, while he thinks so highly of chemistry. That's honestly the biggest reason I wouldn't want Aaron traded: him, Joe, and AJ are so close and I just don't want to mess with the chemistry of this club. That being said if Aaron could be the center piece for a big bat you obviously have to look into it.
  9. QUOTE(qwerty @ Nov 11, 2005 -> 03:56 PM) How overated has he become on this board? Almost as much as furcal and people wanting him for ten million a year. This coming from the guy who thought he was worth the big contract he signed.
  10. QUOTE(beck72 @ Nov 11, 2005 -> 03:52 PM) I'm trying to think like Ozzie and KW. Trading Arow for pitching makes perfect sense. I definitely see the sox wanting a SP from AAA ready to step in and win games should an injury occur. They don't want to get into the whole 5th starter merry-go-round. They should want someone who can step in for the whole yr, not just one or two starts. the sox don't even have a guy who can fill in for one or two starts Sometime this offseason, a trade should be made that will address this gap in the sox. We got the Duke who most likely is still going to be with the team and in the bullpen, I just dont see Aaron being traded for a 7th starting pitcher.
  11. QUOTE(SnB @ Nov 11, 2005 -> 03:47 PM) somewhere in bloomington, greasy is sobbing. Greasy's not at the wedding??? I'm shocked.
  12. QUOTE(Kalapse @ Nov 11, 2005 -> 03:45 PM) Rowand = Kotsay Hunter >>> Kotsay Did I not just say that?
  13. QUOTE(beck72 @ Nov 11, 2005 -> 03:45 PM) If PK doesn't re-sign with the sox, they can pick up a guy like Thome or Helton for cash. A Row wouldn't have to be part of a deal. The case for a top SP prospect might not seem important now. But if one of those 4 guys go down to an injury, you can't get good SP's mid year. The time to stock is in the offseason. As it is, who do the sox turn to from the minors in case of injury? Um...el duque. You want to trade Aaron for a top notch starting pitcher and do what with him?? I don't understand what you're trying to say, and if you want to trade him for a prospect I actually have to agree that, that is taking a step backwards, no need to trade Arow for a minor leaguer when you're going to have the Duke to back them up.
  14. QUOTE(nitetrain8601 @ Nov 11, 2005 -> 03:42 PM) Um Mark Kotsay is the best CF in the game without a doubt. Torii is still the best cf in the game imo, Aaron and Kotsay are right there though and are pretty much equal defensively imo.
  15. QUOTE(beck72 @ Nov 11, 2005 -> 03:34 PM) The sox won the World series based on their pitching. If Arow could net a possible #2 or #3 SP, someone who could step in next yr should a SP get hurt, would that hurt the sox chances of repeating? No. Esp if Anderson could give the sox what Arow gave them this yr-- great defense, and numbers like .270/.326/.405. the sox do not have a surplus of starting pitching in the high minors. This is something that should be addressed, with or w/o an Arow trade. Yet few teams will give away top pitching prospects for guys like Marte or El Duque. It takes talent to get talent. Trading arow for a starting pitcher makes 0 sense to me but if he's the centerpiece for a big bat then I'm all for it. We might not have that many pitchers in the high minors minus Haig but Freddy, Mark, Brandon, and I'd bet on Jon too will all be here through atleast 07 so those guys in the lower minors will have time to develop.
  16. I'm happy John got a job he's wanted a while, so definitely congrats to him and congrats to cards fans.
  17. QUOTE(Sox Hustler @ Nov 11, 2005 -> 02:13 PM) Isn't Bedard a SP? Yes, and their best by far.
  18. QUOTE(YASNY @ Nov 11, 2005 -> 07:11 AM) I could be wrong, but I don't see KW reversing his trend by trading a good solid starting pitcher for a slugger. I agree with you, I highly doubt he'd trade one of our starters for Thome. I can see Arow maybe being the center piece of a deal though.
  19. QUOTE(Chisoxfn @ Nov 10, 2005 -> 10:50 PM) EA is better at football games (college football owns) and baseball games (MVP rocked). However, ESPN is better at hockey games (at least 2k5, which was just awesome). Haven't played the latest one so I can't comment. Oh and NBA Live (last years edition) was way >>>> NBA2k (horrible camera angles, imo). I just play games I like. for the most part I prefer EA gameplay, that said, ESPN Hockey was one of the best video games EVER. Ditto. MVP baseball is easily the best game for baseball, madden usually rocks though I didn't like this years that much. The last few years I've bought the espn basketball game but this year live is pretty damn awesome imo. Also, I always get college hoops by espn, loved that game last year.
  20. QUOTE(fathom @ Nov 11, 2005 -> 12:46 AM) Even though I gave my suggestions, I think the most likely scenario is PK signs with the Red Sox, Gload isn't brought back, and Frank signs for about 2.5 mil. Of course, I still stand by my blind prediction from 5 months ago that Carlos Pena will be the starting 1B for the 2006 White Sox (no reasoning for that psychic vision). BTW, I know people suggest that if PK leaves, we should use guys like Rowand, Duque, and Marte to try and trade for a new 1B. I think a trade chip that should really be used is Politte, who on a team like the Tigers might think he can be a closer. We can make Steff happy, and sign Urbina then. PK won't be on the red sox, I'll guarantee you that. I highly doubt Cliff gets traded and Uggy won't be brought in either.
  21. QUOTE(kevin57 @ Nov 10, 2005 -> 08:30 PM) Wherever Rowand's hitting, someone's got to help him with his pitch choice and swing. He was diving for everything low and outside. He just can't lay off those pitches! I don't recall that being his MO from the beginning, but in the playoffs it was brutal to watch. He's really done that his whole career.
  22. It's Mark, not much of a question there.
  23. QUOTE(SnB @ Nov 10, 2005 -> 03:04 PM) only at soxtalk would i open up a thread about iguchi and see the last post was about alex gonzalez. Shut up nerd.
