QUOTE(witesoxfan @ Nov 2, 2005 -> 11:30 PM) Maybe not 95...but he was in the general range. 92-94 may be better. Of course control is always an issue. It was an issue with almost the entire pitching staff this year. If they had good control, they were good...if they didn't they got hit. Dustin threw 88-91 all year. The difference is when he's healthy he wasn't hanging his slider, he also said that because of his back he wasn't able to finish his pitches. When you can't finish your pitches you are going to hang a lot of breaking stuff and that's what happened when his back got bad.

QUOTE(chisoxfan79 @ Nov 2, 2005 -> 10:52 PM) Does anybody think the Bulls can take the division this year. Nope.

QUOTE(SnB @ Nov 2, 2005 -> 09:02 PM) I got an A on my 10 page paper last year about "the subculture of white sox fans" woot. Nobody cares.

QUOTE(Chisoxfn @ Nov 2, 2005 -> 10:41 PM) Don't tell that to all the Gordon lovers. They all think Gordon is 10 times the player Duhon is and that Duhon shouldn't be starting. Its the exact opposite. Duhon isn't as good as he showed tonight, but he has the ability to have these kind of nights more often and will be one of the better PG's in the league (all around). Gordon looked a lot better defensively though from what I saw from him after Hinrich went down. Gordon also made some better passes as oppposed to last year, but he still needs to work on not turning the ball over so darn much. Unfortunately, I'm not going to be able to watch many bulls games this year but Duhon is a true pg, was in college and is now. Good ball handler, won't turn it over much, great leader, good passer. Chris was a guy that at times used to get on my nerves when he was at Duke because his shot selection bugged me during his soph and junior years but his senior year he put it all together and has continued it on into the nba.

QUOTE(qwerty @ Nov 2, 2005 -> 10:18 PM) Ya, he is overated. Looks very much like ford's game last night... outside of turnovers. Ford had five while duhon only has one. Duhon is such a good player.

QUOTE(aboz56 @ Nov 2, 2005 -> 09:56 PM) See: Game three of the World Series. Not fair boz. Injured back, pitching for the first time in 25 days. He hung a slider and it got hit. I know Dustin doesn't throw hard or blow people away but if he's healthy I think he'll be just fine but nobody knows so we'll see.

QUOTE(SSH2005 @ Nov 2, 2005 -> 09:51 PM) I agree with this post. Hermanson was getting by on quite a few great defensive plays behind him on a lot of hard hit shots. His K/9 was terrible so he was mostly putting a ton of balls into play. I doubt he would repeat his 2005 numbers next year even with a 100% healthy back. Well we got a good defense so it's not a bad thing at all when people put balls in play.

QUOTE(SSH2005 @ Nov 2, 2005 -> 09:46 PM) I remember Carlos Lee batting second but never Frank. Did Manuel really do that? Yes sir. It was only a few games, but the offense wasn't hitting s*** and he just messed around with the lineup and had Frank bat 2nd for 2 or so games.

QUOTE(witesoxfan @ Nov 2, 2005 -> 09:43 PM) How about 2006 results? I wasn't arguing those. Ok, I was arguing that.

QUOTE(witesoxfan @ Nov 2, 2005 -> 09:39 PM) I assume we're talking Chad Tracy here. The answer is quite simple. You bring Frank back, and he's 100% from day one, Tracy then becomes a super utility player, playing atleast 4, perhaps 5 positions for the Sox. His bat is that good. Thomas doesn't come back 100%, and you have a stud LHB for anywhere high in the order. I like Dye hitting 5th, for some reason...I think Tracy-PK-Dye would be just f***in ridiculously solid. You add Thomas anywhere in that order, be it 2nd or 6th or 3rd or 4th or 5th...wherever...and you are unbelievably good and deep offensively. LOL, Frank hitting 2nd?? I remember when Manuel did that for a few games, good times.

I guess I should be happy I dont get this in carbondale, huh?

QUOTE(witesoxfan @ Nov 2, 2005 -> 09:35 PM) I wasn't arguing about 2007 results Neither was I.

QUOTE(witesoxfan @ Nov 2, 2005 -> 09:29 PM) Jon Garland - career best in wins, career best in ERA, career best in WHIP, career best in IP. Jose Cotnreras - ditto Garland Dustin Hermanson - career best ERA out of the pen, career best WHIP out of the pen Neal Cotts - career best ERA, career best WHIP, career best damn near everything. I don't view his as much as a career year as much as I do a huge step in the right direction. Cliff Politte - career best ERA and career best WHIP Offensively...no one had a career year. That doesn't mean players didn't have career years Arthur Rhodes, making about $4 mill a year, coming off a horrible year, in his mid to late 30s, was part of a package for one of the more underrated catchers in the game, and was then traded for Roids Lawton, who was one of the best leadoff hitters in the NL for the first 4 months of the season, regardless of steroid use or not. Never heard of that Cotnreras dude but he'll even be better next season imo. I think Jon regresses a bit but still has an era under 4. If dustin is healthy he'll still be damn good, cliff scares me a bit going into next season so we'll have to see how that works out. Neal is a stud, period. Plus we're going to get a run or more off the era of our 5th starter this year, have Bobby Jenks for a full season, we WILL upgrade from Damaso, el duque is probably going to the pen where he proved he can be very effective. Even without any major changes if we sign Paul I think we can be better, no doubt in my mind.

QUOTE(aboz56 @ Nov 2, 2005 -> 09:20 PM) I think Dye and Konerko were good in the 3 and 4 spot. (when that's how they were aligned, which wasn't until the end of the season when we caught fire.) Too bad they weren't there all year. I think Dye will have another great year if he hits in front of Paul. This OBP stuff kills me. Sabermetrics nor stats don't win. Remember, only one stat matters: W I agree, but if we can find a guy with a .800 obp then I'm all for it.
-
Here's the thing though Kap: When you can throw JC, Buehrle, Garland, and Garcia out there..hell Bmac might crack these top 4 next year, anyways when you have those starting pitchers you're going to have a legit shot to win it all every year.
-
QUOTE(DBAH0 @ Nov 2, 2005 -> 08:10 PM) Minnesota will be better, and you know Cleveland is only going to improve (especially if they re-sign Millwood). They gotta resign Millwood, Fatass, and Howry. If we could re-sign Paul, get rid of Damaso, add Myers or Eyre I'll take our team over theirs or Minny's, again.

QUOTE(Chisoxfn @ Nov 2, 2005 -> 08:10 PM) But I think everyone here knows me and you ahve been talking him up for the past year or so. Maybe you but not dbaho.

QUOTE(Balta1701 @ Nov 2, 2005 -> 07:52 PM) I believe this was the thinking that got the Angels into trouble in 2003. Not to say it won't work for us, but something to think about. As long as we add a #3 hitter, preferably (IMO) one wearing #35, we'll have upgraded. This seems to be the popular opinion but we're not the Angels, that team didnt have near the starting pitching this team does. If you guys want some changes that's absolutely fine but don't have the 03 Angels be the reason.
-
QUOTE(kapkomet @ Nov 2, 2005 -> 07:36 PM) Because, frankly, they won't catch lightning in a bottle twice without a solid #3. They know this. And for the first time in years and years, they have payroll flexibility. I'll take my chances with this pitching staff instead of trading one of our pitchers away for a 3 hitter.

List of players...u tell where they will be...

QUOTE(kapkomet @ Nov 2, 2005 -> 07:20 PM) You have to give up something to get something. And this year's free agent market SUCKS. I agree. None of our starting pitchers are going anywhere I'll guarantee you that. The only regular I see as possible trade bait is Aaron but we shall see.

QUOTE(kapkomet @ Nov 2, 2005 -> 07:09 PM) I'd imagine that a couple of "favorites" will most likely move to get that OBP guy we all wanted on July 31. I really doubt that.

I don't think there is a site I hate more then BP. Nice of you to post that stuff for others though.

QUOTE(aboz56 @ Nov 2, 2005 -> 05:35 PM) Raw talent I'd put Gio up against McCarthy. Look at his filthy numbers. Plus he is a lefty. My main concern is health. This season overall: 13-6, 2.82 era, 131 innings, 163 K's, 8 HR, 47 walks, .205 avg against, 97 hits allowed, 4 wild pitches Health is going to be the main concern with Gio forever.
