  1. QUOTE(SnB @ Aug 31, 2005 -> 09:13 PM) actual quote from this show: "don't tell me the world doesn't revolve around me, because today it does" - girl w/ all the crap designer clothes and huge stupid paris hilton sunglasses. I seriously need to program my tv to skip over mtv before i throw the remote at it, everything on mtv pisses me off. I'm old MTV sucks.
  2. QUOTE(3E8 @ Aug 31, 2005 -> 08:59 PM) T minus one hour and counting! Liar, 1 hour and 1 minute.
  3. QUOTE(Rex Hudler @ Aug 31, 2005 -> 08:17 PM) Perhaps I'll take a stab at it. Sanders has an ERA of 3.02 and has been a key lefty out of the bullpen in Charlotte. Diaz has an ERA of 4.95 and has been very inconsistent this year. Munoz has really struggled lately, including tonight. Perhaps they feel Casanova is a better defensive catcher than Burke?? Burke only played 46 of his 96 games this year at catcher, so it seems obvious to me they don't really see him as a catcher, but more as a utility player that can catch. Note he played most of those games at catcher while Casanova was hurt. Then again, perhaps it is simply because Casanova is hitting .314 with 7 HR and 18 RBI in the month of August while Burke is hitting .244? While I don't always agree with Sox personnel decisions, why is it so necessary to criticize decisions made with input from coaches who see these players daily? I personally don't have a feel for Casanova, but I do know that Sanders is tough against lefties, as evidenced by his 2.45 ERA and .216 BA against them. Good post, thanks for that info rex.
  4. QUOTE(fathom @ Aug 31, 2005 -> 08:13 PM) No kidding. And if ONE player needs a rest, that's fine...sit him that day. But no more lineups with 3 starters on the bench. This I do agree with. I can definitely understand giving Scotty a day off today but Gooch got a game off yesterday, Carl is a dh and he rarely needs a day off. There wasn't really a reason to give those two the day off.
  5. QUOTE(Dick Allen @ Aug 31, 2005 -> 08:05 PM) My point is the difference in performance between the 2 teams is very small. BTW Vizcaino wouldn't have given up 6 if Ozzie didn't make him the sacrificial lamb that day. Ok, so you take two division teams that are 7 games apart and you can make the same comparisons. Pretty out there argument, what if what if what if. It didn't happen so it doesn't matter.
  6. QUOTE(fathom @ Aug 31, 2005 -> 07:39 PM) Holy cow, I can't believe that. Jphat...are you watching on the extra inning package? You're seeing it way before I am on mlb.com. I'm watching on mlb.tv as well. Anyways, that rally died in a hurry, absolutely beautiful, hopefully the tigers can finish this one off.
  7. QUOTE(fathom @ Aug 31, 2005 -> 07:27 PM) 4-2 Tigers in the 8th. Very nice move by Trammell to pinch run Young for Logan.
  8. QUOTE(Dick Allen @ Aug 31, 2005 -> 06:55 PM) No its not. Unfortunately these past few weeks count. Yes, but that's what I'm saying. We've played like s*** the last 2 weeks but we weren't playing bad before that like some of you guys are trying to make it seem.
  9. QUOTE(Dick Allen @ Aug 31, 2005 -> 06:46 PM) As I said, they have been average for 2 months. We were 7 games over in that time period before this recent stretch, that ain't exactly bad.
  10. QUOTE(Dick Allen @ Aug 31, 2005 -> 06:40 PM) Could you really expect a reasonable chance of winning a game against with that line-up? No, most teams aren't going to put up many runs with their 1-3 hitters on the bench. As far as your first argument goes it's different. They've slumped big time the last 2 weeks and your using a complete package to show that, the weren't playing amazing ball since the beginning of july but they sure as hell weren't playing bad till this recent stretch.
  11. QUOTE(fathom @ Aug 31, 2005 -> 06:37 PM) Those moves were being considered to support/back-up Crede at 3b. They weren't moves being considered to give our offense a spark. Joe Randa would not have been brought in to be a backup.
  12. QUOTE(Dick Allen @ Aug 31, 2005 -> 06:36 PM) Since 6/30 the White Sox are .500. Thats being average for a while. That's what happens when you lose 7 in a row.
  13. QUOTE(fathom @ Aug 31, 2005 -> 06:35 PM) You know what I've been saying. I just want to make the playoffs, cause you never know what can happen. However, I just can't picture KW sitting in his office thinking "oh yeah, no doubt in my mind we'll make the playoffs with this current offense". I actually think KW has improved over the years, but he was wrong when he thought that only a superstar would help this team. Once again Fathom you don't know that. Actually, I'd be inclined to say you're wrong about that considering it's been said that we almost landed Randa and Graff who aren't exactly superstars.
  14. QUOTE(Chifananthony @ Aug 31, 2005 -> 06:32 PM) All those teams are trending upward we are trending DOWN. We are running out of steam, and without help we are done. As far as Griffey, I am positive that if you offer to take enough of his salary he would be ours. This bulls*** about the owners not wanting to trade for him because he makes their team more attractive to sell is completely rediculous. If you take long term debt away from a business, that business becomes much more marketable. If I were buying the Reds, I would want a clean slate and no deffered contract money to deal with. Ill buy my own talent. We've trended downward for 2 weeks, that is all.
  15. QUOTE(fathom @ Aug 31, 2005 -> 06:28 PM) The Twins chose not to give up Liriano, basically limiting themselves from making a trade for an impact player. I think teams like the Yanks, Boston, Oakland, and Anaheim thought that their teams were good enough to win it all. Of course, we're speaking as FANS of the White Sox, and we just don't seem good enough to win it all now. Nobody knows what teams are good enough to win it all right now. I'll tell you one thing though, if there is a team out of the A.L. who could beat the Cardinals it is us because of our pitching. While Boston and the yanks can absolutely mash they just don't have enough pitching to win it all this year. I personally don't like the Angels staff after Bartolo and everyone knows how I feel about the A's. I think Tony put it perfectly with this team, we could get eliminated real early or we could win it all. The thing is as long as we hang on nobody is going to want to face Buehrle-Garland-Garcia in a short series.
  16. QUOTE(Kalapse @ Aug 31, 2005 -> 06:28 PM) There was a good amount of names reported that KW was interested in. He was getting outlandish requests such as McCarthy for Villone. Right and I hope Florida is happy with their trade for villone now....whoops.
  17. QUOTE(fathom @ Aug 31, 2005 -> 06:24 PM) Know what? Impossible gets or the fixated part? The fixated parts. Just cause the "great" baseball insiders in this town said those were the guy kenny was after really doesn't mean anything. Hell, that could have all been a smoke screen for other things, we just dont know.
  18. QUOTE(fathom @ Aug 31, 2005 -> 06:18 PM) KW did a great job fielding a team that could compete. My biggest problem is that he seemed to get fixated on two players, Huff and Griffey Jr., who were near impossible gets. You really don't know that.
  19. QUOTE(Goldmember @ Aug 31, 2005 -> 05:07 PM) easy, happy gilmore... and no parents should not have to buy their kids a car... WINNER
  20. QUOTE(whitesoxin' @ Aug 31, 2005 -> 04:56 PM) Don't do it. Eating s*** for 5 hours > working at fast food You eat pieces of s*** for breakfast??? Anyone know the movie?
  21. Trivia question: When's the last time nitetrain made a post during a day the sox won?
  22. QUOTE(Gene Honda Civic @ Aug 31, 2005 -> 04:45 PM) f*** no. Back in my day, there were no fat people. We had to walk everywhere. Did you have to walk 15 miles in the freezing cold during a blizzard to get to school?
