QUOTE(Gene Honda Civic @ Sep 6, 2005 -> 11:57 AM) If the playoffs started today..... The White Sox would host the NY Yankees in the ALDS, and have home field advantage throughout the entire playoffs. -- Just a thought. Buehrle vs. Johnson Contreras vs. Chacon Garcia vs. Mussina Garland vs. Wright Buehrle vs. Johnson That's an interesting setup you have there cheat, did you flip Garland and Contreras based on how they throw at home and on the road?

Where will Sox will rank in minor league talent?

QUOTE(nitetrain8601 @ Sep 5, 2005 -> 10:04 AM) Pretty much. I also see us dropping. We did pretty bad with this year's draft IMO. You can't rank a draft after half a season. -

QUOTE(BlackBetsy @ Sep 5, 2005 -> 07:08 AM) I actually think the Sox's system will drop. This year's draft class, led by Lance Broadway, has not had a standout performance like some of the 2004 draftees did last year (Gonzalez, Liotta). The minors are extremely outfield-heavy in prospects, which are a dime a dozen in any case. The Sox minors are short at SS (with Valido the only real prospect), 2B (none really pop out) and 3B (Fields has high K's, low AVG., worrisome for someone who will need to compete at higher levels). C is weak as well. Well Young had a sick year, as did Gio as did Liotta as did Haigwood. We're outfield and PITCHING heavy, that is a very good thing. -
Bonds will be re-evaluated and could be activated tomorrow. Right now the Giants are 5 out and they have 7 left with the Pads. Wow.

QUOTE(Balta1701 @ Sep 5, 2005 -> 06:32 PM) There were a couple...Uribe caught off second.. I'm going to blame that one on Tad. -
QUOTE(Tony82087 @ Sep 5, 2005 -> 06:15 PM) Having Homefield also means more $$$$$$$$$$. Great point. Also, Boston is fantastic at home, having homefield throughout the playoffs would be a nice luxury.

QUOTE(3E8 @ Sep 5, 2005 -> 04:05 PM) I think Liriano is about to debut in the next half inning. A little preview of the filthiness we'll have to deal with in the future. He is in. First batter he faces goes yard.

QUOTE(3E8 @ Sep 5, 2005 -> 04:06 PM) I think 35 is the high. Yes sir.

Mariotti is in the process right now of writing an article about how the Sox are going to win the series.

QUOTE(the southside tiger @ Sep 5, 2005 -> 12:34 PM) Garland pitches like a coward (look guys, I was careful how I said it! ). Watch Pedro pitch. He attacks hitters. He could have faced Babe Ruth without even flinching. And he would have come right at him. He doesnt back down for anyone. Garland is scared of the hitters. He will never be a great if he doesnt gain courage. As for Ozzie, he was here last year and we stunk. Its the new guys who made us good. We are winning in spite of Ozzie. All he does is bring bad publicity with his goofy jokes. And, McCarthy, all I can say is damn. He will be on my favorites list shortly if he keeps this up. 14 straight innings without allowing a run, but unlike Garland who did his scoreless streak against Detroit and Oakland (when they stunk), BMac has done it against Boston and Texas, the two best offenses around. BMac is an aggressive pitcher, and he will soon be better than Garland could ever hope to be. Ace in the making, and a completely different pitcher than he was earlier. This kid aint scared of nothin'. It's funny how garland and pedro basically have the same bb/ip ratio. -
QUOTE(SnB @ Sep 5, 2005 -> 12:05 AM) "That neal cotts is an attractive young man" -Hawk during neal's debut in 03. ..and how'd that make you feel?? It's ok snb we're there for you.

QUOTE(Heads22 @ Sep 4, 2005 -> 10:59 PM) That wagon had a lot of stretching room before this year.... I was aboard, I was aboard when he had an era over 6 or 7 at the beginning of this season and because of that qwerty gets a nice little sig soon.

QUOTE(CWSGuy406 @ Sep 4, 2005 -> 05:28 PM) WTH are you talking about? So what if he says you shouldn't boo Magglio. It's his opinion. Sure, the whole contract thing didn't end the way it should have, but Magglio gave us what, five, six years of an All-Star caliber RFer. If he feels that people shouldn't boo Magglio, he certainly has a right to say it. Yup, his opinon..no doubt. Absolutely nothing wrong with either side of that argument imo. Like I've said before the reason I got pissed at Maggs was him bad mouthing the organization, leaving for more money is just the business part of the game imo.

Don't look now but the Giants are 5.5 games back and have 7 left with the Pads, and Bonds maybe returning. Gotta love the nl west.

Fantastic work as always, dep.

QUOTE(Jordan4life_2005 @ Sep 4, 2005 -> 03:47 PM) I'm hoping Ozzie doesn't go that route. This is a big game as far as homefield in the playoffs go. Hey, if we get to use our closer then it's a good thing, right?
