Richest and Poorest Cities/Counties
QUOTE(Brian @ Sep 6, 2005 -> 04:14 PM) That's what I meant. I'm sure Warren will destroy Stevenson AGAIN this year and Rowand will go hide in Carbondale dorm with a pizza from Quatros and 5 pack of Natural Light. If we lose my excuse is that I wasn't there to cheer them on.

Bad BMac blessing in disguise ?
QUOTE(YASNY @ Sep 6, 2005 -> 03:02 PM) I think it's finally "clicked" for Contreras. If so, then his head won't get in the way of him using his great stuff. No walks in his last 3 starts, that's just simply incredible for Jose. What was his era in August? It was around the low 1's but as impressive as that is, that no walks in 3 starts is the most impressive stat to me.

Bad BMac blessing in disguise ?
QUOTE(YASNY @ Sep 6, 2005 -> 02:50 PM) I expressed some hesitation in giving the ball to McCarthy vs. Hernandez is an earlier post. The more I think about it, the less hesitation I have. Having said that, at this point in time I'd go with Contreras as the number 4 starter in the playoffs. No doubt, if Jose pitches half as well as he did in August he should be our number 4 guy in the playoffs.

Royals @ White Sox 9/6/2005
QUOTE(Gene Honda Civic @ Sep 6, 2005 -> 11:57 AM) If the playoffs started today..... The White Sox would host the NY Yankees in the ALDS, and have home field advantage throughout the entire playoffs. -- Just a thought. Buehrle vs. Johnson Contreras vs. Chacon Garcia vs. Mussina Garland vs. Wright Buehrle vs. Johnson That's an interesting setup you have there cheat, did you flip Garland and Contreras based on how they throw at home and on the road?

Where will Sox will rank in minor league talent?
QUOTE(nitetrain8601 @ Sep 5, 2005 -> 10:04 AM) Pretty much. I also see us dropping. We did pretty bad with this year's draft IMO. You can't rank a draft after half a season.

Where will Sox will rank in minor league talent?
QUOTE(BlackBetsy @ Sep 5, 2005 -> 07:08 AM) I actually think the Sox's system will drop. This year's draft class, led by Lance Broadway, has not had a standout performance like some of the 2004 draftees did last year (Gonzalez, Liotta). The minors are extremely outfield-heavy in prospects, which are a dime a dozen in any case. The Sox minors are short at SS (with Valido the only real prospect), 2B (none really pop out) and 3B (Fields has high K's, low AVG., worrisome for someone who will need to compete at higher levels). C is weak as well. Well Young had a sick year, as did Gio as did Liotta as did Haigwood. We're outfield and PITCHING heavy, that is a very good thing.

Boston Watch
QUOTE(Tony82087 @ Sep 5, 2005 -> 06:15 PM) Having Homefield also means more $$$$$$$$$$. Great point. Also, Boston is fantastic at home, having homefield throughout the playoffs would be a nice luxury.

QUOTE(3E8 @ Sep 5, 2005 -> 04:05 PM) I think Liriano is about to debut in the next half inning. A little preview of the filthiness we'll have to deal with in the future. He is in. First batter he faces goes yard.
