  1. I think a lot of it depends on how far we're up in the division, how close we are to clinching. If the division is just about wrapped about I think you'll definitely see Brandon back up here to get a few starts, give the Duke a few starts off to have him ready for the playoffs.
  2. QUOTE(CWSGuy406 @ Aug 1, 2005 -> 02:09 PM) Getting Williamson is going to be huge for them. I really would have liked to see the Sox pick him up for an incentive-laden contract in the offseason. IF he's completely healthy then I agree. The problem is he's coming back from this injury far to quickly, I wouldn't be surprised to see him either not at 100 percent or land back on the dl.
  3. QUOTE(GBlum## @ Aug 1, 2005 -> 09:19 PM) greasy I've been meaning to ask you...what do you think of Frank? Greasy has told me that he's not a fan, "average player" in his own words.
  4. QUOTE(GBlum## @ Aug 1, 2005 -> 09:09 PM) The part where you said he's not the #2 defensive center because he averages 1 board/3 minutes Nice name. :headshake
  5. Great stuff. Hopefully Kris can get himself back to top prospect form, I'm definitely rooting for him.
  6. Best of luck Shingo, I'll always cheer for the guy.
  7. Great win. The offense has just looked fantastic this series, doing everything right. As has been said Mark's just an awesome pitcher and an awesome teammate. 44
  8. QUOTE(Balta1701 @ Aug 1, 2005 -> 06:32 PM) The team would love to trade him I think, but no team out there is going to take on a $11 million or so a year contract for a guy who can't stay healthy. His name is in trade rumors every year, but the fact always ends up being that the Royals don't want to trade him without getting back prospects and having the other team pick up the tab, and for a guy as injury-prone as sweeney, that just won't happen. It's been said a lot that the Royals don't want to trade him because of what he does for the community.
  9. Even with having a better road record, in the playoffs it'll be very nice to have home field if we can do so. This would especially be huge if we play Oakland in the playoffs to have more games at the cell then the colleseum.
  10. I've said it before that there aren't many hitters I respect more then Sweeney, I definitely hate playing the guy though. He is such a class act though and that's why KC doesn't want to trade him.
  11. Just for the record, Griffey is 13-for-31 with five homers off Williams in his career.
  12. QUOTE(YASNY @ Aug 1, 2005 -> 03:30 AM) There's some logic there, but your pulling this out of left field. Not bad, though. Ha, yeah it's definitely out of left field. I just saw that quote from kenny and was thinking about everything and I just kind of came up with that, made a ton of sense to me.
  13. I wrote off Kris as a prospect, I love it that he's starting to prove me wrong. Make me eat crow, Kris
  14. QUOTE(YASNY @ Aug 1, 2005 -> 02:57 AM) Is this a theory, or is there something you know that we don't? Just a theory. First there's this from whitesox.com I believe: General manager Ken Williams said the Sox were close to landing "something inpactful" that was killed by an opposing team's ownership group. Next, Griffey didn't play today and he owns Woody Williams so it kind of seems odd for him to have an off day. Then there's the fact that I could see the Reds wanting to hang onto Jr bad contract or not because of his resurgence and the fact that if they traded him for a not so hot package it'd be bad pr. JR said he's willing to take on anything and taking on most of Jr's contract would have meant that Kenny would have been able to hang onto most of our top spects while acquiring a difference maker, seems like something he'd do. So anyways, just a theory I came up with, rip into me if you want.
  15. Just in case anyone cares I got a theory that the Sox traded for Griffey and that Reds ownership killed the deal.
  16. QUOTE(witesoxfan @ Aug 1, 2005 -> 01:25 AM) Not sure if I'm seeing this as a good move for Pittsburgh. Gerut's a solid player...but he is all they got? They should have gotten more than just a 4th OF type. I mean, Baltimore has no interest? Minnesota? New York? Washington? Los Angeles? Shop him around...I'm sure you can get more than just Jody Gerut. Considering the deal was announced right near the deadline, I assume there were no takers for Lawton, pitt just got desperate and took a deal. Not saying it's great in terms of what they recieved but atleast they got something.
  17. QUOTE(Sox Radio Bryan @ Aug 1, 2005 -> 12:28 AM) Steff...nice work on creating the post! It was enjoyable to read all of the above comments. Please keep them coming. This is my first post on this website, and I have enjoyed typing each letter of it. Feel free to post any questions you all might have for me. If you call in to future post game shows or Chicago Baseball Tonight, please let mention that you frequent SoxTalk.com. Bryan Whoa, welcome aboard Bryan.
  18. Good deal for both teams imo. Lawton's a great fit for the cubs and a solid player but atleast Pitt got something, if he stays then he walks in the offseason and they get nothing.
  19. If anyone wanted to know, here's Kalapse's view on the deal: So the Sox pulled off a deal for Rob Mackowiak huh. This is awesome. Mack will help in solidifying our bench for the stretch run and the playoffs. I know a lot of people are down on him after seeing some of his recent numbers but I really feel this acquisition will help out the team a lot. A util man like him who can play 8 different positions can be invaluable. Edit out Mackowiak for Blum and that's how he feels.
  20. QUOTE(southsider2k5 @ Jul 31, 2005 -> 05:03 PM) 8.1 IP is not a chance. Am I the only one who was impressed with Baj last year?? He got hit a bit but everything was a little bloop or a seeing eye single. Yeesh, give up on a guy after 8 innings. The guy can pitch, period. He'll get a chance somewhere eventually and he'll prove himself.
  21. QUOTE(CWSGuy406 @ Jul 31, 2005 -> 10:37 PM) IIRC, we got Sullivan that way two years ago. Correct.
  22. QUOTE(southsideirish71 @ Jul 31, 2005 -> 09:38 PM) That should of been in green. That was a Billy Kochesque 9th there. I was being sarcastic just in case you guys didnt know.
