  1. QUOTE(JimH @ Jul 31, 2005 -> 01:31 PM) One of the Charlotte guys said Jon Adkins has been called up, so there needs to be roster moves before tomorrows game at the latest. Um....?
  2. No offense but I don't trust bp at all.
  3. The trade deadline special is starting in about 4 minutes on espn.
  4. QUOTE(Brian @ Jul 31, 2005 -> 12:37 PM) Soriano or Todd Walker? Tough decision? NOT! Don't the teach common sense at Stevenson? Obviously Soriano is a better player then Walker but the Cubs have been playing well since they moved Hairston and Walker to the top of the order because of the fact they now have decent obp guys ahead of dlee. If they trade for Soriano who hits 2nd for them??
  5. QUOTE(Chisoxfn @ Jul 31, 2005 -> 12:35 PM) So the Twins deal Mays and Loshe for Rich Hill and another major leaguer. Cubs deal Todd Walker, Rich Hill and another MLer (goes to Twins) for Alf Rangers deal Alfonso Soriano for Loshe, Mays, and Todd Walker Sounds like a nice deal for the Rangers, they get two decent starters and a quality 2nd baseman for Alf. Cubs give up a lot but get a good player...don't see why the heck the Twins do that. Hill is a pretty good prospect, but they better have a way to get some other pitchers. Ya, that doesn't make much sense to me, unless the Twins are packing it in with Hunter's injury which I highly doubt is the case.
  6. QUOTE(Brian @ Jul 31, 2005 -> 12:31 PM) Rich Hill and another ML player from Cubs to Twins. Todd Walker to Texas along with Mays and Lohse, I think I heard. That move would be counter productive for the cubs. Moving Todd Walker to the top of the order is one of the reasons the Cubs have been successful as of late.
  7. BREAKING NEWS: The name of this forum has officially been changed.
  8. QUOTE(Jeckle2000 @ Jul 31, 2005 -> 12:14 PM) Thats the whole point... We still have Uribe on the bench.... It would make Huff and Everett the DH/ backup COF's with Huff splitting time at 1B... Blum playing just about everywhere, Uribe Spelling the IF, Ozuna spelling the OF/MIF... and best part is no more Timo, Gload, Willie..... In the words of Hawk.... YES!!!! Sorry but this is just the deal I want to see happen... I'd rather have Juan starting as shortstop then Lugo, Julio's a butcher in the field.
  9. QUOTE(JohnStamos @ Jul 30, 2005 -> 01:00 PM) My new Sig
  10. I'd rather have Uribe then Lugo.
  11. QUOTE(chisoxfan79 @ Jul 31, 2005 -> 12:05 PM) Does anybody know if Huff is in the lineup for the D-rays? He is, doesn't mean anything though, he could easily get pulled sometime into the game.
  12. QUOTE(Kalapse @ Jul 31, 2005 -> 11:28 AM) BWAHAHAHA Aren't you supposed to be working?
  13. QUOTE(quickman @ Jul 31, 2005 -> 11:08 AM) What are you talking about. VA doesn't want to trade Mcarthy. I am not following you. You said Brian Mccarthy in an earlier post, it's Brandon not Brian.
  14. QUOTE(fathom @ Jul 31, 2005 -> 11:25 AM) BTW, Huff is in the starting lineup today for the DRays. Likely means he's not going anywhere, with the game being schedule 2 hours before the deadline. It'll be interesting to see if he gets pulled some time during the game.
  15. QUOTE(Milkman delivers @ Jul 31, 2005 -> 11:20 AM) Buster Olney was just on ESPNEWS. A couple days ago, he said the Sox would either make a big splash or they wouldn't make a trade at all. He just said now that he believes KW will make a move before the day is done. So, maybe he knows something? He was on bbtn and said that other gm's expect Kenny to be very busy today. 2 hours 35 minutes until we find out.
  16. For Meaux this is a good deal. Now we have a real backup third baseman.
  17. QUOTE(fathom @ Jul 31, 2005 -> 10:32 AM) No offense, but they still have a lot more inside information than any of us jabronis on a message board. What you might see is Kenny try making a deal without Brandon and then if it really gets close and Lamar still won't agree on anything then Brandon might be included. Obviously I'd love to make a deal without him included but if needed I'd be fine trading him, I really want Huff on this team.
  18. Is this thread serious?
  19. QUOTE(Jeckle2000 @ Jul 31, 2005 -> 08:52 AM) Maybe the deal will be Blum and Olivo.... Gives us a backup catcher with a better arm then Widger... Maybe they got him at KW's request... Not a chance in hell. Widger's a good defensive catcher, Olivo isnt.
  20. HAHAHAHAHA, That's brilliant. By the way I can't wait to see this movie.
  21. QUOTE(dasox24 @ Jul 31, 2005 -> 03:00 AM) Eh, there's not much else to do, so why not? It's not a bad way to spend your time on Soxtalk when there's a grand total of like 10 other people on. I haven't been up this late much this summer, but I remember last summer and how slow it gets at 3-4 AM. Ya, you're slacking this year.
  22. QUOTE(YASNY @ Jul 31, 2005 -> 02:34 AM) Here's the quote again. Read it carefully. The Devil Rays were reportedly in line to be giving up all three of their most coveted trade commodities in one fell swoop. ESPN reported Saturday that along with Huff and Baez, Julio Lugo was now involved in the big three-way possible deal. That is refering to the BoSox-Mets-DRays deal. It says the big 3-way, not a big 3-way. Good point, that whole sentence really just confuses me cause it says he "was" as in past tense and then it says he's "now" involved as in the present. Meh, why the hell am I breaking down sentences at 3:40 in the morning.
  23. From rotoworld: The New York Daily News believes the Twins are close to acquiring Alfonso Soriano for a package that would include Kyle Lohse. J.C. Romero and Bret Boone have also been linked to the discussions, although the Dail News doesn't mention either. It's believed that the Mets are pretty much out of the hunt for Soriano, although the Cubs might not be. EDIT: That's the same article that said the Sox were close to a deal for Huff, so once again I wouldn't take it to seriously cause the Daily news always seems to be wrong.
  24. QUOTE(BobDylan @ Jul 30, 2005 -> 11:46 PM) Call me crazy, but I have a gut feeling the Sox are going to make a huge run for Manny if not land him. You're one crazy SOB.
