  1. I feel like I was willing to give Danks as much rope as anyone but it's time to move on now. I still think EJ can be an ok 5th starter but the Sox definitely don't think that's the case so I have no clue what the best option is.
  2. QUOTE (Alexeihyeess @ Apr 28, 2016 -> 04:15 PM) Go listen to 10 minutes of baseball talk on Chicago's airwaves, there is literally nothing they wont say to pat the Cubs on the back. You sure do listen a lot to something you seemingly hate so much.
  3. Yes...Spiegs initial idea was to write a story about how the preseason World Series favorite's start wasn't flukey. Makes plenty of sense.
  4. QUOTE (Eminor3rd @ Apr 28, 2016 -> 12:45 PM) I don't care about anything else, I want him on the team just for the bat flip.
  5. QUOTE (ptatc @ Apr 28, 2016 -> 11:16 AM) I don't think they would not skip Danks again. Going something like 10 days without pitching would not be beneficial for him or the team. So they would skip him?
  6. QUOTE (pettie4sox @ Apr 27, 2016 -> 11:20 PM) This business is about, what have you done for me lately. Last year Danks is history, this years Danks has not been good. That doesn't take away from the point that these guys need a break. They haven't had an off day in a minute. It's been 3 games, we're still not sure what John Danks of 2016 is. Recent years data tells us he's going to have some god awful games but he's also going to give you a chance in a lot. We also have no idea if players need a break at the moment. Just because we've been playing a lot doesn't mean these guys are tired at the end of April. Some might be but a lot of guys are seemingly hitting their stride right now too. All I know is sitting half your guys because f*** it, Danks is on the mound is quite the silly idea.
  7. QUOTE (pettie4sox @ Apr 27, 2016 -> 11:10 PM) With Danks pitching and your guys needing a rest, why not? So we're just going to concede every game Danks pitches? We do know that Danks was good in a lot more of his starts than he was bad in last year, right?
  8. QUOTE (Lillian @ Apr 27, 2016 -> 09:32 PM) Well, this may put the scenario of a "baseball frenzy" in the City to a test. I speculated about such a scenario, but never dreamed that the Sox could get off to this kind of start. The Sox and Cubs could really capture the city, once hockey is over. What more could fans want? Hockey is over.
  9. QUOTE (chi4lyfe @ Apr 27, 2016 -> 09:05 PM) TRESTMAN! *shakes fist* This is a very good post.
  10. So is Sale the Cy Young? Or is it Latos? Q? Robertson? What about Albers? I can't keep up anymore.
  11. QUOTE (Jose Abreu @ Apr 27, 2016 -> 08:43 PM) BETTER BIG 3???! A- Jordan, Pippen, Rodman B- James, Wade, Bosh C- Curry, Green, Thompson D- Jones, Albers, Robertson Bugs, Lola, MJ.
  12. QUOTE (whitesoxjr27 @ Apr 27, 2016 -> 08:22 PM) How old is Duke? Mid 20's? 33.
  13. QUOTE (Alexeihyeess @ Apr 27, 2016 -> 12:19 PM) Whens the last time MLB players "speculated" about one of their own using, and they were loose lipped enough (or the speculation was pervasive enough) to make it to the media? You tell me. Is there evidence out there that players speculating = guy is a steroid user? I bet there isn't. Per usual baseball has brought this on their own so speculate away but there is testing now a days and Jake hasn't failed anything. I certainly wouldn't be shocked if he is on something but some of the opinions in here are pretty ridiculous.
  14. QUOTE (chitownsportsfan @ Apr 27, 2016 -> 01:10 PM) I'd say if the Sox are sitting around 55-40 in July you have to consider moving Adams if that's what it takes to get a deal done for an impact bat. Notice I said impact. Would have to be way more than just an incremental upgrade. I think that's absolutely fair as well.
  15. With our system looking pretty weak outside of the top 3, I don't think we're going to acquire nor do I think we need to trade for a star. Just find someone that can be average against rhp and go from there.
  16. Going to be weird when Mat Latos and Jason Hammel win the cy's.
  17. Winning is fung and fung is winning.
  18. You better think Elliot is going to be the best rb in the league if you draft him that high.
  19. Our offense just saves all of the run scoring for when our top 4 starters aren't on the mound. It's great strategy.
  20. QUOTE (chitownsportsfan @ Apr 25, 2016 -> 10:08 PM) Albers is the quickest fat guy since Robert "Tractor" Trailer. Hey, if you can't be svelte, at least be quick and good at hurling a baseball. Jose has the best smiles when he does something a bit athletic. Glad to see the big man part of a winning club he'll come around soon. I'm not sure Lawrie makes that play without a barehand peg and throw on that chopper that ended it. Certainly would have been bang bang. I'll take the automatic out. Bartolo used to actually be a hell of an athlete too.
  21. QUOTE (raBBit @ Apr 24, 2016 -> 05:26 PM) Navarro and Jackson are certainly playing better than their atrocious lines right now. As you are alluding to, Stone keeps giving Navarro credit for his framing work. Jackson can hit 0 for all I care(I might be exaggerating) as just having him in center and allowing Adam to play right has made this team a whole lot better.
  22. QUOTE (HickoryHuskers @ Apr 24, 2016 -> 05:25 PM) That's a pretty sound strategy for a baseball team. That's the type of strategy that could win Robin manager of the year.
  23. QUOTE (harkness @ Apr 24, 2016 -> 04:50 PM) I think the fail of the sentiment of this thread is that we sweep Texas and somehow the pizza is better, the sky is more blue, the pillow softer... the announcer better. It's just funny how people feel the need for absolutes... If Hawk were announcing the sweep I'm sure it the thread would have been "Hawk never retire!" A lot of people have been really tired of Hawk for a long time, I don't think the sweep has anything to do with the sentiment that Jason is better than Hawk.
  24. Albers(yes I know he didn't pitch today), Jones and Robertson are on some Cotts, Politte and Jenks s*** right now. And while I know they won't be this good all year, they're going to be a huge part of our success. Props to Duke as well who a lot of people wanted to run out of town after 3 appearances.
  25. QUOTE (soxfan49 @ Apr 24, 2016 -> 09:52 AM) Can anyone confirm what Hitchcock said to Pierre during his in-game interview? According to my dad, he said "we like playing here, but this is a different animal." Of course, I couldn't hear so he told me this via text messaging. The guy is 66 years old and texting isn't his thing. Did he mean: Hitchcock said "we like playing here" but he wasn't prepared for that crowd Or did Hitchcock actually say that? He said something along the lines of "we have fun playing here but this is a different animal." Basically we enjoy the atmosphere but this is above and beyond the usual.
