QUOTE(ReinsdorfSucks @ May 24, 2005 -> 10:26 PM) no you DONT have to send him there. the sox NEVER score on the contact play. running just because the guy hits the ball is the dumbest strategy in the world. little tappers back the the pitcher, and hits to a drawn in infield plague this team. you gotta be smarter than that. it's the one part of the jerry manuel regime (besides taking rookies out of games WAY to early so they can feel good about themselves) that this team continues to employ. By the way Pauly grounded out. Didn't matter either way.

QUOTE(CWSGuy406 @ May 24, 2005 -> 10:13 PM) Is there a reason Gload is in the minors? He certainly couldn't do worse than what Konerko/Dye are doing right now. In fact, he'd be a nice guy to do what Juan Uribe did early on last season, give guys breaks at SS/2B/3B -- yet, with Ross, RF and 1B. I don't know what Ross did to piss in Ozzie's cheerios, but... He's just rehabbing.

QUOTE(Frankensteiner @ May 24, 2005 -> 09:13 PM) I know it was a tough play, but that easily could have been an error on Juan. Nah, that was a hit all the way, Figgins can fly.

Mike Morse
QUOTE(dasox24 @ May 24, 2005 -> 09:01 PM) Yeah, that's who it was. That guy is bad ass. He went 7 strong, giving up 0 runs with 9 k's last night. Yeah, I saw him pitch a game in spring training, he's got a chance to a great one.

Baseball America's...
QUOTE(dasox24 @ May 24, 2005 -> 08:58 PM) Yep, I got out a week ago. My one and only exam was on the 16th. (Gosh, I love exemptions.) It feels good to be back, and getting up to par on the minor leagues and the upcoming draft, and all that good stuff. Anyway, I'm goin' out of town tomorrow for a week to see my brother in Virginia. So, I'll be gone awhile again, but when I get back, I'll be back for good. Hey, rowand, you still gettin' on here really late at night like last summer? Go Late Night Sox Talk Fan Club! Not the 4-5o'clock late yet. Once I get out of school next week I'll be back to the last summer routine

Mike Morse
QUOTE(dasox24 @ May 24, 2005 -> 08:53 PM) I was listening to the post-game coverage of the AAA team here, and the announcers were talking about the game, and picked Morse as the Player of the Game. Then, they had him on for an interview, and he sounded pretty well-spoken and like a pretty good guy. They talked about how he's a big SS like A-Rod, and that the M's have given him tapes of A-Rod, so he can watch how a bigger SS plays the game. Anyway, this interview had nothing to do with the Sox, but it was just a good interview. So, I just thought I'd mention the former Sox minor leaguer, and I'm really rootin' for this guy to make it to the big leagues, now. Also, the M's had a 19 year old on the mound last night and he pitched great. 19 years old and already in AAA- I have a feeling this guy's gonna be a good one. Felix Hernandez I assume was pitching??

QUOTE(chi-guy2 @ May 24, 2005 -> 08:48 PM) thats all he ever does, his problem is that he keeps stepping back when he swings which makes him swing away from the ball He does that when he's hot too, that's just how he hits. It's akward but for the most part it'll work for him. Right now he's just in a funk, he'll get out of it though.

QUOTE(dasox24 @ May 24, 2005 -> 08:41 PM) Yes, he does close for Ole Miss. But, you're right about him projecting better as a hitter rather than pitcher. How's it going, man?? Good to see you back around here. You out of school??

Trade Revisited
QUOTE(RockRaines @ May 24, 2005 -> 08:30 PM) I'll tell you what I would do. I would Trade BMAC, Anderson, Sweeney, etc for Roger Clemens right now, and pay his salaryl. Umm...No thanks.

No surprise, Buehrle picks off Rivera, then a weak ground ball from Finley, onto the 3rd. 1-0 sox.

Carl Everett
QUOTE(JimH @ May 24, 2005 -> 08:34 PM) I agree. My point was more about the comment in this thread that he doesn't give 100%. His reputation is he plays very hard and plays hurt and gives his all. Oh, I completely agree. Carl always gives his all, with Everett I'll always remember in 03 how he was the only one hitting the darn ball down the stretch, while everyone else in the lineup just couldn't hit, Carl was single handedly giving the offense some life.

Who would you rather have up
QUOTE(whitesox91403 @ May 24, 2005 -> 07:05 PM) Yeah Baj was pretty stellar his short time up last season too. Vizcaino stays, I still think he'll be fine. Cotts, on the other hand, needs to go. Adkins is in Triple A because Vizcaino was traded for, and that's the only damn reason. I think a lot of people forget he was pretty damn good for most of last season. Key words:Short time up. I do think Luis will turn it around and deserves more time but it amazes me how many people have almost given up on Baj because his numbers weren't fantastic though he wasn't hit hard.

Carl Everett
QUOTE(JimH @ May 24, 2005 -> 08:27 PM) How about that at bat in the first inning ... talk about giving 100%, great approach and fouls off some tough pitches and then drills a HR. Everett is a professional, he just showed why. As long as Carl is healthy the guy can hit. He's had some struggles as of late but he'll get it back together, he's just to good of a hitter not to.
