  1. QUOTE(Kalapse @ Apr 28, 2005 -> 03:39 PM) K by Bartlett. Lew Ford to the plate, probably gonna win it here. Probably with a little bloop to left field.
  2. I stopped following this game when Minny was up 3 to 0. Cmon KC some how pull this out.
  3. QUOTE(southsider2k5 @ Apr 28, 2005 -> 11:45 AM) I liked you better when you were babybearhater. Uh-oh, bye-bye! HE GONE
  4. QUOTE(Whitesoxfan56 @ Apr 28, 2005 -> 09:02 AM) Yep your right Cliff did want to play SS Per RotoWorld.com Jermaine Dye made his first career appearance at shortstop in the ninth inning today. Well, he's hit like a shortstop this year. Dye and middle reliever Cliff Politte both volunteered to play shortstop after Joe Crede was ejected in the eighth. Politte probably would have been the better choice defensively, though the White Sox didn't want his bat in the lineup. Dye did commit an error in the contest, but it happened when he was playing right field. He didn't get a chance at shortstop. Apr. 27 - 6:53 pm et That would have been even more interesting if Cliff played short, we should have put Garland in there, he can probably hit better then Jermaine right now also.
  5. QUOTE(YASNY @ Apr 28, 2005 -> 09:12 AM) Oh c'mon. Get real. Dye is a good defensive outfielder and Everett couldn't play good defense if his life depended on it. Dye botched a fly ball. So did that butcher in Minnesota named Torii Hunter. He sucks defensively ... at least based on your comment. Agreed. Dye is sucking right now and there's no way around that but I'm not worried about him at all, he'll hit and he'll hit 30 bombs this year, imo.
  6. QUOTE(Chisoxfn @ Apr 27, 2005 -> 04:44 PM) Also just to add another point in this thread...un official related. The Sox needed to impliment some hit and runs when things weren't going right. Teams all around baseball (minus the Angels) don't use the hit and run enough. Its a great thing, put your runners in motion, and have a righty or lefty pull it to where the 2nd baseman usually plays. It works beautifully especially when an offense is struggling, like the Sox were (and hitting into so many double plays). When things aren't going right, its not necessarily a bad idea to force the envelope when all you need is maybe 1 more run. Plus you have Kendall behind the plate who is about as bad as it gets in terms of having an accurate arm. He's no Mike Piazza, but he's similar to Pyrz (whom I love) but would try and run on all the time considering the Sox have a few guys on this staff that couldn't hold on runners if there life depended on it. Aside from that I'm happy they had a winning road trip and get to come back home, hopefully the off day gets the banged up players ready (but I have my doubts). I completely agree. I almost think the hit and run should be used everytime aaron's on first and aj's at the plate, that is an unbelievably perfect situation to use it, considering aj's a great contact hitter and aaron has good speed.
  7. QUOTE(Gene Honda Civic @ Apr 27, 2005 -> 04:24 PM) I vaguely remember being critical of Ozzie last season for the altercation between the two, but I can't for the life of me remember what happened. Oh and let's keep this one clean. The umps didn't cost us the game. Crede shoulda been wrung up on the pitch before. If you want to b**** about the Umps, go type in all caps in another post. This thread is for intelligent discourse. That pitch to Joe was clearly around the outside corner, whatever though.
  8. QUOTE(NUKE_CLEVELAND @ Apr 27, 2005 -> 04:44 PM) When we all saw the lineup for this game everyone on the boards went nuts saying it was gonna be a slaughter and our guys would be kicking balls across the infield...........but...........it didn't happen. Freddy Garcia stepped up and pitched his ass off for 7 innings and the only reason we lost is cause we couldn't get the clutch hit. That's all. We finished the trip 6-2 which is kick ass by my standards. We get a day off tomorrow to rest up and get some guys healthy, we got some nice home cooking coming up, and we're done with Oakland. No flaming wreckage of a thread tonight. Good call Nuke. I'm a little pissed off right now but you're right, great road trip, we now get a well needed day off and then back to work at the cell. EDIT: By the way I'm not pissed off at the team just pissed off by the fatass ump at 3rd tonight and the other f***er who obviously liked the idea of seeing Jermaine Dye at ss.
  9. QUOTE(TheDybber @ Apr 27, 2005 -> 05:20 PM) That's fine if they call the ball that hit Crede a ball and not a HBP...but you can't throw him out of the game for being pissed...even if he said something. Warn him...make sure he gets fined...but you can't throw him out of the game. And don't forget, this was the SIXTH hit batsman in the series and I don't think they even warned the A's bench. Wrong, wrong, wrong. I don't know if this was mentioned earlier but during the pregame on the radio when Rooney was interviewing ozzie, ozzie said major league baseball called him and warned him that they'll be watching him and for him not to retaliate. What kind of bulls*** is that?
  10. QUOTE(Nokona @ Apr 27, 2005 -> 05:16 PM) What really pissed me off was Froemming coming in from Left Field. Get the f*** back there i don't care if you're the Chief or the f***ing President of the World, don't pull s*** like that. Froemming is a fatass piece of s*** that is to f***in big to move over a few steps to get himself in good position last night for that play at the plate, if he wasn't so fat maybe he would have seen the runners foot pop up while getting tagged, instead he was behind the f***in play so he just saw foot beat ball. He's a fat lard.
  11. QUOTE(greasywheels121 @ Apr 27, 2005 -> 05:03 PM) The team needs one. I agree. However, this just leaves me sulking until the game Friday night. This team owns my emotions from April until the end of the season. Ditto, it feels like s*** to have the offday tomorrow from my stand point but this couldn't come at a better time for the team they need to get healthy.
  12. QUOTE(IlliniKrush @ Apr 27, 2005 -> 05:06 PM) Crede didn't stand still. If he did, the ball wouldn't have hit him. That call was bulls***, period. It's the same situation when a batter turns his back, most of the time if they stand there they won't get hit but since they turn they get hit, same s*** here. The umps sucked dong this series, I'm sorry but they did, the sox didn't play well these last two games but regardless of that being all nicked up and having a short roster right now they win this series with the correct calls by the umps.
  13. Cmon Freddy, 27 k day.
  14. QUOTE(greasywheels121 @ Apr 27, 2005 -> 12:48 PM) We will score double digits today for the first time with this lineup. Honestly, wouldn't fricken surprise me, I mean what were the chances we'd score 7 runs in a game Harden pitched in and lose?
  15. QUOTE(LosMediasBlancas @ Apr 27, 2005 -> 11:49 AM) I agree, but it doesn't matter. I'd expect one of our guys to plunk them if they broke say Crede's hand. Now it's even. They've hit 4 freaking guys this series and a couple in the hand you'd think that would be enough.
  16. QUOTE(AirScott @ Apr 27, 2005 -> 10:08 AM) one more point: the fact is that even though the bullpen is shaky, Ozzie needs to be able to trust it. if the score is 7-3 going into the bottom of the 7th, and Buehrle starts showing signs of wear, go to Damaso, Vizcaino, or Hermanson. go to a fresh arm to finish the game, that's why the have the bullpen. plus, Buehrle isn't going to go 9 innings every time he starts. I completely disagree about the bullpen being shaky, it's about as solid as it gets. I don't think ozzie kept Mark out there cause he doesn't trust the pen, he kept Mark out there because he's our ace, was it a mistake--maybe but in no way do I think he kept him out there cause he doesn't trust the pen.
  17. QUOTE(Beastly @ Apr 27, 2005 -> 09:02 AM) Give them Politte... Ha, you've been all over politte from the spring, care to watch him pitch this year?? Cause he's been damn good, Cliff's a good pitcher.
  18. QUOTE(Punch and Judy Garland @ Apr 27, 2005 -> 11:07 AM) That's a good point about the Marte thing. If it was in retaliation for that, we are even and don't need to drill anyone. I guess you can say that but Marte's was not intentional and Harden's was.
  19. QUOTE(qwerty @ Apr 27, 2005 -> 12:08 AM) Timo is bad
  20. QUOTE(qwerty @ Apr 26, 2005 -> 11:53 PM)
  21. Freddy's going to dominate today, he bailed us out last year in this place and he'll win us the series this time around.
  22. QUOTE(CWSGuy406 @ Apr 26, 2005 -> 11:47 PM) Sorry. I didn't mean to sound that way. I'm totally happy with how he's assembled our team this year -- at least, the pitching side. No complaints from me. Like I said I knew you weren't trying to do that I just didn't want tonight to get uglier then it already is.
  23. QUOTE(CWSGuy406 @ Apr 26, 2005 -> 11:44 PM) Why, because Kenny is end all, be all? Need I remind you of how many times we've made the playoffs in his tenure? Timo should go down. Not Ozuna. Timo. Not Harris. Timo. I know your not trying to do this but lets not make this a Kenny Williams thread cause that could get even uglier then this one already is.
  24. Blah now this is turning into a Timo vs. Willie vs. Pablo thing when we're going to have to worry about that in June at the very earliest. Man this thread went down the tubes, I'm staying out of that discussion, everyone knows how I feel there.
  25. QUOTE(CWSGuy406 @ Apr 26, 2005 -> 11:34 PM) There's a hell of a lot more guys that you can add to that list. Anyone who's not immediately playing at an All-Star level would've been gone. Like last year? Rowand gone, Garland gone, Shingo gone after his blowup in New York, Konerko -- oh, gone in 2003, Thomas probably gone in 2002. Oh Keith there is no doubt, I just mentioned Neal and Joe cause those are the guys already this year he's wanted to boot after 1 bad play or 1 bad inning.
