9/1 Games
QUOTE (HickoryHuskers @ Sep 2, 2014 -> 08:30 AM) Given the large number of holes elsewhere, the Sox don't really have any other option than to give Gillaspie the chance to keep up that pace. There simply aren't enough resources to fill all the other holes AND upgrade at 3B via free agency and trades. Even if he regresses to a 720 OPS, which is the worst case scenario, that is MLB average for 3B. If the Sox redirect resources to upgrade at 3B, they will be well below average at LF, DH, and C (not to mention bullpen). So it really doesn't make sense. None at all. I'm not looking to redirect resources to 3b but if the Sox really want Micah to be the starting 2b next year then I'm looking to sell high on Conor to upgrade elsewhere and let Semien be the everyday 3b.

2015 Offseason
We have no starting pitching depth at the major league level right now, trading Q is just an awful idea right now.

Paige better start dating one of the top guys to fit in with the other 4 that were in the ring. And I know this will probably never happen but I wish the Punk chants would go away when AJ is around.

QUOTE (Brian @ Sep 1, 2014 -> 08:30 PM) Bella's are awful. Vince is great at exploiting something for attention. This Raw sucks but the crowd is worse. Ambrose and Steph need to get back on this show pronto. The last show and a half have been horrendous.

3B and LF Situation for 2015
QUOTE (scs787 @ Aug 31, 2014 -> 05:51 PM) If they think Mcah is an everyday 2B then I'd open to selling high on Gillaspie and inserting Semien over there.....A good SP, LF, DH, or a closer(oh the irony), would be nice. If Conor has earned himself some good trade value then this would be my plan considering that it seems the Sox are making 2b Micah's to lose.

The Adam Dunn Appreciation Thread
QUOTE (raBBit @ Aug 31, 2014 -> 12:05 PM) If absolute best effort is not having an offseason program, then yeah, Dunn put in his best effort. Dunn seems like a decent dude but it was a move that had to made. Dumping Beckham, ADA and Dunn just makes me so much more excited for the offseason. There should be lots of new faces all over the place. Unfortunately, Dunn leaving town brings on the unintended consequence that TUC will have to come up with new material, sigh. He lost a crap ton of weight after he sucked ass in 2011. He was definitely trying, he just wasn't that great here. He's a good dude and a good teammate who unfortunately didn't live up to his contract.

QUOTE (Brian @ Aug 31, 2014 -> 11:57 AM) I wanted to so bad but he convinced me to give him one more shot. He was going through a divorce last year and lost his job. I gave him mercy. Pssh, fantasy football always comes first.

Dunn traded to Athletics for Nolan Sanburn
Good trade for everyone. I hope Adam just kills it in the playoffs but very happy we got a live arm for him.

QUOTE (nitetrain8601 @ Aug 30, 2014 -> 09:40 AM) How are they average? He has Calvin Johnson and Dez Bryant. That alone makes his WR core above good. Honestly, you didn't do bad. You have to clear out your bench of RBs though and get some backups. Overall though, RBs normally are the hardest group to predict. I usually draft them last nowadays because you're bound to find at least 3 backup RBs who turn out to be the starters on their teams and end up being studs. You also have 3 highly rated RBs who just fall off the face of the earth. Outside of Foles, I like your team alot. I was being sarcastic. Didn't think that needed green.

2015 MLB Draft
QUOTE (scs787 @ Aug 29, 2014 -> 01:47 PM) Wasn't Rodon considered the most polished college pitcher in the draft last year? I've read up on this DJ Stewart fellow and he sounds legit. People might have argued Nola going in, which gets us right back to the polished vs. Low ceiling discussion.

QUOTE (IlliniKrush @ Aug 29, 2014 -> 12:01 PM) Let's all think back to last winter, and having the Bears play some games in January and February. Terrible idea. I don't want to watch snow football in below zero weather, even if I'm not at the game. I'd rather have a good product out there to watch on TV. I think you're the only person that doesn't like snow games.

Who would you vote for AL MVP?
QUOTE (chw42 @ Aug 29, 2014 -> 10:41 AM) He didn't win last year cause Cabrera had one of the best offensive seasons in the past 10 years and Cabrera won the triple crown the year before. It didn't have much of anything to do with making the playoffs, it had everything to do with Cabrera putting up offensive numbers the voters couldn't turn down. I didn't agree with Cabrera winning it in 2012, but I can't fault the voters for voting for him since he won the Triple Crown. I didn't mind him winning it last year even though Trout out-WAR'd him by quite a bit. Eh I'd bet that if you flipped the Angels and Tigers in the standings the last few years then trout would have won at least 1 MVP. Not saying it's right but I bet that's the case.

Who would you vote for AL MVP?
QUOTE (Jose Abreu @ Aug 28, 2014 -> 10:01 PM) Someone please explain to me without using WAR why Trout supposedly has a huge lead over Abreu. Yes, he is a good baserunner and he fields well, but hitting is the biggest factor in MVP voting, and Abreu has more HR, RBI, and a much better AVG. He's a better player on a better team, not that hard to figure out.
