QUOTE (Steve9347 @ Aug 1, 2014 -> 09:47 PM) Cancel the whole stupid tournament. Get all the paid players off the court for these stupid games. It sucks but s*** happens. This could have happened anywhere, you can't just keep these guys locked in a room until the NBA season starts.

Open Letter to RH
QUOTE (HickoryHuskers @ Jul 31, 2014 -> 07:02 PM) De Aza is almost certain to be non-tendered. He's not enough of an upgrade over Jordan Danks to justify the salary difference. I would think Beckham still has a tiny chance of turning things around before the end of the season and avoid being non-tendered, but very tiny. De Aza actually has a track record of being a good hitter though, there's probably more of a chance for him to turn it around than there is for Gordon.

Realistic 2015 Lineup
Well they'll be more changes but Avi is forgotten in the original post anyways.

Open Letter to RH
QUOTE (RockRaines @ Jul 31, 2014 -> 05:27 PM) What's he doing to hurt the team over his replacement? They literally dont have to make a single move right now. Could get Marcus some valuable major league at bats. I wasn't in a rush to just dump Dunn and especially not Danks but I would have liked to see Gordon moved.

Jose Abreu general discussion
I love me some Jose Abreu but Trout is just a better player having a better overall year. He's your MVP.

I'm interested to see when Caleb and Zach go. The other guys seem to be afraid to get them out because they might blow everything up when they do.

QUOTE (Jenksismyb**** @ Jul 31, 2014 -> 09:28 AM) To a certain degree though, it IS surprising that he's playing as well as he is. He's apparently been dominating all of the guards so far, especially defensively. He was looking better than ever and his vertical was up last year too. It's all fluff, don't give a damn until he's playing in real games.

Yanks on Danks
QUOTE (IlliniKrush @ Jul 30, 2014 -> 06:04 PM) And LOL at actually thinking they are winning the division. You need to be setting up for 2015 and 2016/2017. Freeing up some money will help that a lot. Will it? We should have plenty of money to spend in the offseason, we don't have plenty of pitching to give up. I don't see it making much sense to just dump him to clear more salary. He's more valuable to us than other teams at the moment and I'd just rather hang onto him instead of giving him away.

QUOTE (Chisoxfn @ Jul 30, 2014 -> 05:55 PM) I care immensely. If he's physically looking strong, the in game stuff will happen. Will there be rust, sure, but this process with team USA is great to help get some of that rust off and build his game shape, etc. The key is him being physically "back" and the next question and huge key is obviously his ability to maintain his health. We got the same stuff last year. It doesn't mean a damn thing until he actually gets out there and plays.

I'm already tired of the DRose fluff pieces. I'm beyond excited for his return and I can't wait to see him in action but I just don't care how he looks in practice.

Apartment/Condo/House Thread
QUOTE (bigruss22 @ Jul 29, 2014 -> 12:42 PM) I'm moving to Southport (just west of Wrigleyville) this month, seems to be a solid area and rent really isn't much more for what you get. I currently live in Rogers Park and pay about $600 for my portion for a much smaller apartment, whereas I'll be paying $850 in Southport. And yea, avoid the frat havens every time, but plenty of good places still out there. The biggest thing for me is just being closer to all my college friends so I can more easily hang out with them because right now it takes about 45-60 minutes to get to them (I live about 15-20 mins from the red line currently). So playing basketball, watching games, etc will be much easier. That's a great area. As far as Wrigleyville, I'm not shocked that there's a debate on here about it. People love it or they don't. I personally love the area but to each their own.

QUOTE (Y2HH @ Jul 29, 2014 -> 09:37 AM) Meh, totally true. No, it's not. Wrigley and Lincoln Park have more people, more girls, more bars, etc. Yes, you can get drunk anywhere but if you're actually looking for a party scene especially as a 23 year old, Wrigley is definitely one of the places to be.

QUOTE (Y2HH @ Jul 29, 2014 -> 09:35 AM) Partying is an overrated waste of money because you can party anywhere else for far less and have just as much fun. I never got the entire "wrigleyville" party thing...it's just a bunch of idiots doing what other idiots do in other neighborhoods, for 30x the cost. Meh not really true.

Chris Sale
QUOTE (Eminor3rd @ Jul 28, 2014 -> 02:54 PM) The biggest difference, IMO, between Kershaw and Sale/Hernandez is HR/FB%. Kershaw's is right around his career average, while Sale/Hernandez's are substantially lower than their respective averages. It's likely that both Sale and Hernandez will see some regression here at some point, which would widen the gap between them and Kershaw. Always the possibility that Sale is just improving at this age. That said, Kershaw to me is the best pitcher in baseball but Sale is right there with him.

Kershaw's a lefty so shouldn't he be on the Sox anyways?

QUOTE (gatnom @ Jul 28, 2014 -> 05:27 PM) Any suggestions for neighborhoods to live in Chicago as a 23 year old? I don't have a car, so living near public transportation is a must. I have a pretty general idea of where I think I'd like to be, but I was wondering if anybody here had any suggestions. Depends what you're looking for really.
