QUOTE (JPN366 @ Jul 28, 2011 -> 04:03 PM) Sidebar negotiations about a possible arranged marriage between my son and Marko's daughter. The deal fell apart due to "philosophical" reasons on Marko's part. I think that covers it in a nutshell. He can always throw in a child to be named later.
  2. QUOTE (WHarris1 @ Jul 28, 2011 -> 03:18 PM) It's awesome how on edge everyone is and how any random tweet can generate excitement. The trade deadline is the f***ing best, no matter what. I have a love/hate relationship with the trade deadline. It's driving me nuts but it's awesome at the same time.
  3. QUOTE (Chisoxfn @ Jul 28, 2011 -> 03:04 PM) If the Sox get a couple of the Braves pitching prospects, some of which are knocking on the door, it could clear the way for the Sox to move Danks now. That is if they feel the value they could get from the Yankees at the deadline will be greater than what they can get during the off-season. That'd be one way to replenish the farm system in the blink of an eye.
  4. QUOTE (SOXOBAMA @ Jul 28, 2011 -> 03:59 PM) If we became buyers. I wonder who Kenny will go after Dayan Viciedo.

What the hell just happened in this thread?
  6. QUOTE (Chisoxfn @ Jul 28, 2011 -> 02:54 PM) I'm not that interested in Minor. His big trait is "pitchability" and while that can work out, I like guys with dazzling stuff, especially if Quentin is as in demand as is being hinted at. Minor is a lot like Buehrle from a stuff perspective. I don't know whether Minor will have the ridiculous ability to locate and keep guys off balance, like Buehrle has. Ya, please no.
  7. Rowand44 laughs out loud.
  8. QUOTE (Special K @ Jul 28, 2011 -> 12:09 PM) How'd he do in that trade for Nick Swisher or Javy Vasquez? Very non comparable situations. Not that I have faith in Kenny to pull this off correctly but if he's trading Carlos, he better be getting a Kings Ransom back in return.
  9. QUOTE (SoxFan1 @ Jul 28, 2011 -> 01:07 PM) Hypothetically, the Sox could have moved Jackson/Thornton/+ for Rasmus, then turned around and dealt Quentin for Dominic Brown? Umm, Brown/Rasmus/Viciedo in the outfield for a decade............. Why must you do that?
  10. QUOTE (Balta1701 @ Jul 28, 2011 -> 01:04 PM) I wouldn't mind being the beneficiary of that type of behavior, one team driving up the price to hurt the ohter. That'd be a nice change of pace, wouldn't it?
  11. QUOTE (SoxFan1 @ Jul 28, 2011 -> 11:53 AM) People dismissing the rumor or being surprised that this is the kind of package we should get in return for him. That's a ton for any player. Quentin has been a great player this year but he's not an upper echelon superstar where you completely destroy your farm. 2 of those players I can see but all 3? That seems a little too outrageous to me. Hope I'm wrong.
  12. QUOTE (HickoryHuskers @ Jul 28, 2011 -> 11:48 AM) In his major league career, Carlos has BB/HBP in 12.3% of his PA. In the minors/majors combines, Dayan has BB/HBP in 5.7% of his PA. It takes an awfully good AVG/SLG to make up for that kind of difference long term, especially on a team that already has too many guys in Dayan's category of plate discipline and not enough in Carlos'. I'm not saying that you don't make the trade if the return is good enough, but all those free bases will be missed, and opposing starters will be throwing 10+ fewer pitches the first two times through the lineup. Dayan's plate discipline has improved by about a million times this year so using his career stats for that is insanely misleading.
  13. QUOTE (SpainSOXfan09 @ Jul 28, 2011 -> 12:45 PM) I respect that, I just think with our feast or famine offense (More famine than feast) we will get shut down by Boston's pitching staff if we meet them in the NLDS. But you are right anything can happen in the playoffs. Why you keep saying NLDS? I wonder if the haul that Beltran got has something to do with the raised price of CQ.
  14. If this stuff being bantered around the media is true than Q has to be gone at the end of this weekend, just has to. And as others have said, throw Rios in right until Dayan is ready to go.
  15. QUOTE (JoeCoolMan24 @ Jul 28, 2011 -> 11:01 AM) LOL, WHAT? Is that a joke? f***ing s***, I would be fine if Kenny through in Matt Thornton and any prospect not named Viciedo/Reed if it meant Brown, Singleton, AND Cosart. That's beyond video-game level trade. Ya, that was pretty much my first reaction. This has to be false and if it isn't, why the f*** wasn't this made?
  16. QUOTE (southsider2k5 @ Jul 27, 2011 -> 08:27 PM) They don't make the playoffs if Jake is not developing back towards 100+ pitches. We have like 27 good relievers now, we can afford to pull Jake after 5 for 2 months.
  17. QUOTE (docsox24 @ Jul 27, 2011 -> 08:59 PM) Seriously? Please give it up with peavy. He is not getting his stuff back. He is no longer an ace and I want him nowhere near starting a playoff game Danks Mark Floyd Humber I actually agree with you but he's shown through 70 pitches that he can still be a very effective pitcher. Maybe(huge maybe) if he can build up some arm strength he can at least be a viable option come playoff time. Also, the one guarantee if we did indeed make the playoffs is that Ozzie would not throw Danks and Mark back to back.
  18. QUOTE (Jordan4life @ Jul 27, 2011 -> 08:41 PM) It's only been two starts, but JD has been electric since coming off the DL. If keeps this up, Ozzie would have a tough decision there. He has the track record to be the one guy that could possibly take over for Buehrle, I completely agree.
  19. Mark Buehrle is the pretty obvious answer at this point.
  20. QUOTE (Milkman delivers @ Jul 27, 2011 -> 01:50 PM) Your twitter account was sometimes humorous, so thanks. This is literally exactly what I was going to post.
  21. Today is giving me a headache.
  22. QUOTE (Jordan4life @ Jul 27, 2011 -> 11:28 AM) For this year. Going forward? I smell an early 90's like run by them. This is no hyperbole. AA shredded two of the top 5 worst contracts in baseball, fattened up their system, and got a stud 5-tool CF for two relievers and a #4 starter. He's done this in like two years. No chance.
  23. QUOTE (spiderman @ Jul 27, 2011 -> 12:18 PM) So, Frasor is a very good lefty reliever, correct? He's under contract for how long and for how much? The White Sox now have a 5 man rotation going forward. Is Zach Stewart a starting pitching prospect? How highly rated is he? Where does he project for the White Sox? Frasor is a righty.
