The Price of Outfielders
QUOTE(Texsox @ Dec 7, 2007 -> 06:08 PM) The point I was making was use that as a reference when looking at these salaries, in a couple years, they sometimes look like bargains. Teams have to project out what a player is going to do. Maggs was a risk, and the Tigers won. Well, so did we.

Telling note about Brian Anderson
QUOTE(CWSGuy406 @ Dec 7, 2007 -> 12:00 PM) Why does Owens automatically get the job? We know who the better defender is (when healthy) and there's nothing to say Owens will be a better hitter than Anderson. I'd think if it really came down to it, Ozzie could find a good amount of at-bats for both at the major league level, especially with Quentin in LF. Why did Erstad automatically get the job out of st last season? Ozzie doesn't like BA, he's not getting another shot here, he's just not.

QUOTE(Dick Allen @ Dec 7, 2007 -> 03:24 PM) And the White Sox lost out on their top 2 targets? Who else has? Probably a lot of teams that we don't know about.

QUOTE(Brian @ Dec 7, 2007 -> 08:46 AM) SIU needs to get into a flow and I mean hit their schedule. 2 games in the last 2 weeks is no way to build momentum or get into a groove. Let's Bring the Pain against Charlotte and hit the ground running. Yup, it starts tomorrow. We're changing a few things up to, which I love. Going back to the 3 guard lineup with Shaw at the 4 where he even admitted that he's more comfortable playing. Looks like the starting lineup for tomorrows game is going to be: Mullins, Bone, Clemmons, Shaw and Randal which is what I've wanted to see the whole season, so I'm very, very happy to see some of these changes. Still, everything is dependent on Bone and Shaw hitting some shots, I also get the feeling that you'll finally see Wood play some significant minutes out there tomorrow. I got a feeling this team is about ready to turn it around, I think you'll see them play significantly better from now on and it will start tomorrow.

Miami is real good at limiting possessions, they know what they're doing out there. I'm not going to argue on Xavier, if you're not sold on them yet then I can understand that, however, imo they're an extremely good team. I'll leave it at that.

Which new sports video game should I buy?
I got and love College Hoops. I do every year though, so if you usually like the game I'd recommend it, if not then there isn't too much different about it. There's a few new features though and I've been playing it to death.

QUOTE(Buehrle>Wood @ Dec 6, 2007 -> 07:30 PM) I'm sitting here baffled at how anyone could be predicting a NC for an Indiana team that was humbled on a neutral court against a mid-major. They may very well be contenders come March, but not? Certainly not. Xavier is pretty good and IU played about as bad as they could. Now, I don't think they're going to win the NC but that reasoning has nothing to do with the loss to Xavier. That's not a bad loss at all.

Do we need a philosophical change?
QUOTE(Balta1701 @ Dec 6, 2007 -> 07:52 PM) Does a world series team seem like one who had pitchers put up ERA's of 4.48, 4.54, 4.78, and 7.15, who's leadoff hitter put up a .314 OBP, and who's LF hit .199 the year before? The guys I just gave you were Robertson, Bonderman, Maroth, Verlander, Granderson, and Thames in 2005. Sure, it might be a bit unfair saying that Justin Verlander was going to fail in 2006 based on the 7.15 ERA he put up in 11 innings in 2005, but I don't see how that's any more unfair than what you just did with the rookie seasons of Richar, Quentin, Danks, and to a lesser extent Floyd. Game Balta.

How the heck did we ever get to this point?
QUOTE(greg775 @ Dec 6, 2007 -> 02:40 AM) Nice summary ... but ... Ordonez was not finished like the Sox doctors suggested or KW suggested. He is fine now. The Lee trade saved money. I'll give you that. But Lee was a stud. Rowand brought Thome. The question is could anybody else have brought Thome? KW does not make trades that we clearly WIN. Bartolo Colon.

Brian Roberts
I'll take Roberts and Bedard. There, it should be that simple.

You knew it was coming
QUOTE(BearSox @ Dec 6, 2007 -> 12:39 AM) The thing is, KW had a plan this offseason and it was to bring in at least one of Hunter or Cabrera. Now neither of them are here and we are stuck with Crede, Uribe, Linebrink, and Cabrera. Don't you think it would have been wise to wait and see if we actually acquired the key parts to the plan before we started to pick up some of the minor parts? Now, instead of being able to go into a rebuild mode since the plan has failed, we can't because we traded Garland for a 33 year SS in his last of a contract and signed a mediocre reliever to a pretty big contract. f***ing pitiful. Woah woah, wasn't defending what Kenny has done this offseason transaction wise, I just don't give a s*** about what he has to say at the moment. He's frustrated too, I just want him to make this team better, his comments on why we didn't get someone don't interest me.

Kenny is grumpy like the rest of us. Seriously, who the hell cares what he has to say at the moment, I just want him to go on to plan ZZ or whatever and get this team some players.
