"The Dark Knight"
QUOTE(FlaSoxxJim @ Jun 5, 2007 -> 12:36 PM) I think it's best to let Mr. David Campbell answer the question of WHY GAMBIT SUCKS. You know something...YOU SUCK.

Mike Lowell for Third Base next year?
QUOTE(Chisoxfn @ Jun 5, 2007 -> 12:37 PM) I'd venture to say that Dunn is a very overrated baseball player. However, I'm not saying he's not valuable, but he's more valuable in the 6 spot. I don't want to get into another Dunn argument though.

Mike Lowell for Third Base next year?
QUOTE(RibbieRubarb @ Jun 5, 2007 -> 12:23 PM) Patience and understanding are two qualities you will not find in a lot of fans here. I think that's common in most sports fans, people want results right away. I've said it before but being patient with young players is one of the toughest things to do but it's something you have to be willing to do, otherwise you're going to end up losing a very talented player who might have just needed a bit more time to get going.

"The Dark Knight"
QUOTE(Kid Gleason @ Jun 5, 2007 -> 12:18 PM) I'm actually a little suprised there wasn't more uproar about X3 (or certain aspects of X1 and X2) than there was. Since seeing it originally, I have come to learn who the original X-Men were, and it kind of surprises me that Beast, Angel and Iceman have been reduced to such minor roles. I know that X fans consider the original run to be much lesser than the Claremont era, but still, talk about re-writing origins! I'm just mad that they didn't find a way to get Gambit in the movies. I'm not a comic book guy at all but honestly...who doesn't love Gambit? EDIT: Maybe one of you comic book guys will know, but wasn't there a reason given on why Gambit wasn't in any of the movies?

Mike Lowell for Third Base next year?
QUOTE(RibbieRubarb @ Jun 5, 2007 -> 12:17 PM) All joking aside, if the organization decides that Fields is the man next year, I hope we stick with that plan for the whole year and that some of our fans understand. He's going to go through growing pains, and we're going to have to be patient with him.

Mike Lowell for Third Base next year?
QUOTE(RibbieRubarb @ Jun 5, 2007 -> 12:14 PM) Prediction: Josh Fields goes 0-4 with 3Ks opening day 2008. Soxtalk starts "Dump Josh Fields thread" next day. I see it like this: Fields goes 2-4 with a homer on opening day and everyone absolutely loves him, threads praising him and what not, next two days he goes 0-8 combined with 5 k's and Soxtalk is trying to trade him.

AND THAT'S A WHITE SOX WINNER!!!
QUOTE(southsider2k5 @ Jun 5, 2007 -> 12:08 PM) Since Jaime Navarro was here the only guy I would have considered anything longer than a 3 year deal for would have been Colon. In retrospect, I would have been really wrong, as he has been hurt a bunch. Buehrle is the only other guy I think deserves that consideration on our squad right now. I might extend to 4 for Garland if the deal was right, but that's it. Mark Buehrle I could see giving a 5 or 6 year deal if the price was right. Completely agree with everything. At the time, I definitely would have went 4 or 5 with Bartolo as well(which thinking back would be incredibly stupid seeing the fantastic shape that the guy is in) but he's really the only guy that popped into my head right away when you asked that question. As for Mark, I'm usually not into trying to sign or re-sign someone for pr(and re-signing Mark is much more about his pitching ability than just making the fans happy), however, Mark means a lot to this organization off the field as well, imo.

AND THAT'S A WHITE SOX WINNER!!!
QUOTE(southsider2k5 @ Jun 5, 2007 -> 12:02 PM) How many pitchers have left the Sox that in retrospect deserved a four or five year deal? Good point. I think if anyone could deserve such a contract it'd be Mark, it'll be interesting to see if they'll go that long with him, my guess is they wont, who knows though.

Jerry Owens or Felix Pie
QUOTE(quickman @ Jun 5, 2007 -> 07:41 AM) I see, so you agree Owens blows. Good your coming along. How about sweeney is he a step above Gustavo, I would trade him too, oh and andersen too. In fact I would trade all three of those clowns for Pie. Owens isn't really in the same league as Sweeney. Not many people see Owens as much more than a 4th outfielder, it's been that way for a while.

"The Dark Knight"
QUOTE(kyyle23 @ Jun 5, 2007 -> 11:36 AM) I absolutely loathe X-Men 3. Im sorry, it was nothing but smash-bang-boom. They just dropped the entire storyline and made up some crap and sold it to everyone Well SOOOOOORRRRRY. Ha, I know a lot of people hated it, but I really enjoyed it, SO THERE.

Mike Lowell for Third Base next year?
QUOTE(beautox @ Jun 5, 2007 -> 06:48 AM) K's don't make or break a player, provided they have a respectable walk rate, josh has that. As for the defensive end i think he will wind up along the lines of brandon inge. That's a lot to be asking out of Fields defensively. Despite the errors that Inge makes, he has the most range of any 3b in the league, imo.

Recruiting Thread
I like how there is going to be an 8th grade all star game with the 40 top 8th graders from the state. I'll give it another year or two before espn picks the game up.

2007 White Sox Catch-All Thread
QUOTE(southsideirish71 @ Jun 5, 2007 -> 11:05 AM) I would love to take Matt Murton off their hands. He would make a nice number 2 hitter in the future. I'll take Derrek Lee and we'll find somewhere for him to play. Not only is he a terrific player but you know...he's like the one mentally stable guy in that locker room.

"The Dark Knight"
QUOTE(Kid Gleason @ Jun 5, 2007 -> 07:40 AM) It is so funny to see what the different "communities" think. Here we see praise of the Nicholson perfromance and Prince soundtrack, and yet on the comic sites I frequent, those are two of the main complaints. Watching the film recently, I noticed that the Batman run starting with '89 got off to a wrong start. The movie is called "Batman", but it takes almost 20 minutes to even see Bruce Wayne's face. But in that time we have come to know Jack Napier really well. Right from the beginning the villains were most important. That was what Nolan mainly did, that people seem to overlook. He made the film about the man in the cowl. But then again, I can't stand Burton. Just in general with all the comic book movies it seems you'll get completely different reactions from people who actually read the comics and people who didn't. X3 is a good example of that as I know a lot of people say it really didn't follow the comics all that much but I loved that movie.

FutureSox Top 25: 5-1
Good stuff as always, guys. The only thing I'd change is I'd have Gio ranked higher than Fields but that's obviously just a matter of opinion.

AND THAT'S A WHITE SOX WINNER!!!
QUOTE(iamshack @ Jun 5, 2007 -> 01:26 AM) I love durability, but you've got to be stellar year in and year out if you're making 15-18 million a season. Otherwise, I'll take my chances with a kid or a journeyman making peanuts. I love Mark as much as the next guy, but I just don't believe it's a smart financial move to tie up that much of the payroll in one starter unless he's an ace. Mark is a great pitcher, but an ace he probably will never be. He's not an ace(please no Kalapse references), but besides last year he's been good every year of his career, he's about as reliable of a starter is you're going to find. I hope the Sox do as much as possible to lock him up.

Gio Hurt?
QUOTE(Gene Honda Civic @ Jun 4, 2007 -> 08:38 PM) I checked in, the game was in delay after 2.5 innings. I suppose they didn't update the box score to indicate that Gio had gotten an out in the 3rd. He's 100% fine. That's a relief.

Gio Hurt?
As unsure as I am about Gio, trading him right now is just an awful idea.

rowand to the sox?
QUOTE(Gene Honda Civic @ Jun 4, 2007 -> 12:20 PM) It's still a bad deal. Rowand is a free agent. The Sox aren't winning anything this year. I have no problem with Rowand coming back in '08, but if we're going to trade anything from our major league roster (or from the minors for that matter) it better improve the club long-term, not put a band-aid on where a tourniquet is needed. Agreed.
