QUOTE(Kalapse @ Jul 3, 2006 -> 02:52 AM) I'm pretty sure that's how Jose Lopez got in. Cano and Rios are both injured and have already been replaced, not sure who took Alex' spot. Gary Matthews Jr.

QUOTE(southsideirish71 @ Jul 3, 2006 -> 02:46 AM) Schilling can go f*** himself and so can the Red Cub nation. They voted in a 250 f***ing hitter. When you decide to vote in trash because he is one of your beloved Red Cubs, the you can f***ing cry when your precious little bloody sawx moron doesnt get in. Schilling over values himself, and he can go to hell. Hafner is not having a better year than either Konerko or Thome. So he can eat s***, and so can the Tribe fans who think otherwise. And to the tiger fans who for whatever reason inhabit this board. Take your b****ing and whining and self importance elsewhere. I could care if you feel that Jimmy is a better person and would take x player because of his neutralism. Ozzie saw Verlander 2 times. He got hit pretty well both times. Dye deserves to go over Magglio. I think its awsome that Ozzie took his team. The yanks and red cubs have been doing this for years. Now we do it, and we are the bad guys. Pound sand. Lets vote AJ in and make it a lucky 7. Such an awesome post.

Tiger Watch - Official Thread
QUOTE(Chisoxfn @ Jul 3, 2006 -> 02:25 AM) On the flipside, this may be so new that if they have the right attitude they won't realize they should feel the pressure. Its usually one or the other (not so much in between) but I do think the Tigers are going to be a major player in the central for the next few years and technically speaking you could definately make a case for them being built for long term success (ie the next 3-5 years). Of course a ton can happen during that time and the Sox (while we are a bit older) still are a relatively young team aside from a few players with most of our core guys locked up. Minny should join the fray and if Cleveland makes the right changes they will be around too. Its gonna be a dogfight year in year out for the best division in baseball (currently home to the 2 best teams in baseball). You forgot the Royals . Detroit is going to be in this thing for a while but I just don't think this year they have enough to win it. Next year though, them and Minny are going to be two of the better teams in all of baseball(they are this year too). This division is just getting better and better and it's pretty scary.

The Official Cliff Politte Sucks Thread
QUOTE(SoxAce @ Jul 3, 2006 -> 02:13 AM) I would call this year more the fluke, cause I highly doubt he's going to be this bad next season. IMO, he can get semi close to his career numbers from last year than he will this season unless he puts off surgery cause it's quite obvious he's not 100%. Well if he's healthy I completely agree but he seems to have lost something off his fastball. Relievers for the most part are just so hard to judge from year to year.

The Official Cliff Politte Sucks Thread
QUOTE(TitoMB345 @ Jul 3, 2006 -> 02:04 AM) I really don't think you can say last year was a fluke. He was absolutely DOMINANT last year. It's not like he was just getting "lucky" for the entire year. He was just unbelievable. Sometimes, players just can't do it two years in a row, they run out of gas. But I think its very unfair to say last year was a fluke. It was a fluke year because it was completely against his career norms. I don't agree with Nite that he was lucky last year however, he was just absolutely dominating last season. Cliff's been an avearge reliever all his career and last year was just a flash in the pan.

The Official Cliff Politte Sucks Thread
Cliff is going to be no where near the pen in 07. You'll have: Bobby, Neal, Matt, Riske(maybe, if we re-sign him), good chance you'll see Long imo and then a veteran right hander.

QUOTE(Kalapse @ Jul 3, 2006 -> 01:07 AM) I really don't think the Derby is responsible for Abreu's sudden loss of power, Konerko possibly but Abreu I doubt. The guy hit 6 HRs post AS break last year and has 8 thus far this season, that's only 14 HRs over 151 games. Blaming the HR Derby for his loss of power would be like blaiming the tipping of pitches for every sucky Buehrle outing. At some point you have to look to other factors because the one you're using as your scape-goat just doesn't make sense anymore. I'm not talking about power but I do think it can mess with a players swing for a while.

And That's A White Sox Loser
QUOTE(LosMediasBlancas @ Jul 2, 2006 -> 08:42 PM) I'm always happy to win a series, but think about how close we were to losing it. I'd like to know how many times this team has given Buehrle a lead, only to see him give it RIGHT back. Our very good pitching staff gave up a LOT of hits to one of the worst offenses in baseball. Well, the starting pitching is definitely a concern right now(who woulda thunk that'd be our main concern this year) and that obviously continued this series. I don't buy the "we were close to losing this series argument" we're going to win a lot more one run games and be "close" to losing a lot of series now that our bullpen is pretty damn good. Still, I really was worried about losing this series because this was the Cubs world series, and this was the last thing they had to play for this year. By the way, it'll be nice to play american league ball again. I got a feeling we're going to gain some ground this week.

QUOTE(Wanne @ Jul 2, 2006 -> 08:45 PM) Moreso than Jose starting?!? I'm not talking about starting. Mark definitely doesn't deserve to start and neither does Jose anymore(Johan is the best pitcher in baseball, the end). That being said before the debacle that was today, Mark was definitely an allstar worthy pitcher.

QUOTE(Wanne @ Jul 2, 2006 -> 08:39 PM) I can't say I blame these other fans about being pissed...but...it happens every year. Torre was always the culprit for quite a while. The only problem I have is Buehrle. He is VERY non-deserving of being an All-Star this year...especially after today. Does Mark have a clause in his contract that states he gets a bonus for being on the All-Star team btw? I still think AJ should have been named though. Buehrle was very deserving before today and Guillen already had the picks made.

And That's A White Sox Loser
QUOTE(Flash Tizzle @ Jul 2, 2006 -> 08:25 PM) It does seem that way, but I wouldn't have dismissed it before today even began. Well ya, I definitely didn't think today "well, we have no chance." Just before the series started I knew we'd lose at least a game(I was worried about losing this series). Unfortunately Buehrle pitched like junk and Ozzie obviously didn't care too much about this one but we still took the series and absolutely stole one yesterday, so overall a fine series..just today sucked.

QUOTE(Flash Tizzle @ Jul 2, 2006 -> 08:12 PM) Why weren't we going to sweep the Cubs? You act as if were impossible thing to occur. It nearly is.

And That's A White Sox Loser
We weren't going to sweep the Cubs. As much as this one stings because of some odd things that took place, I'm satisfied with 2 of 3 because this series worried me a lot coming in.

Series Preview: White Sox vs. Orioles
Series Preview: White Sox vs. Orioles By Jason Gage The White Sox will remain in Chicago, but will go back home to the South Side after taking two of three from the floundering Chicago Cubs. The Sox will miss interleague play where they went 14-4 while beating up the Cardinals, Astros, Pirates and Cubs. With the chance of a sweep against the Cubs, the Sox bats came up strong but Mark Buehrle and Cliff Politte faltered in a high scoring affair while the Orioles finished up their series with the Braves with a loss.
