AL Central Central
QUOTE(Balta1701 @ Apr 29, 2006 -> 12:23 PM) The concern with the Tigers, like many teams, is still injuries. Rogers, Young, Ordonez, all have pretty bad recent injury histories, but thus far they've been lucky. There's also going to be the usual smattering of other problems, and again, some of those haven't hit yet. Who knows when IRoid will start breaking down, etc. Remember, it's a marathon, not a sprint. Heh, trust me I know that. Like I said, it's taken a lot of convincing for me to even believe Detroit will have a chance to finish over .500. Like I said, I don't think they're going to be serious contenders come september but they'll hang around for a while imo.

QUOTE(BigSqwert @ Apr 29, 2006 -> 11:57 AM) Man....Tigers already up 8-0 vs the Twins. They are starting to look like a scary team. Great pitching and pretty damn good hitting. And a great manager. I've been one to say they'll be safely in 4th by the allstar break but I'm starting to think they can hang around, mostly because I really like their bullpen. I don't think they're going to be serious contenders come september but I think they can hang around for a while.

Jermaine Dye
QUOTE(Chisoxfn @ Apr 29, 2006 -> 11:00 AM) Ummmm, I don't think there is a person in baseball that would tell you Vladdy is a better defensive outfielder than Dye. Vladdy may be the worse right fielder in all of baseball (defensively). The guy is hideous out there and thats coming from someone who goes to 30 or so Angel games a year. People think he's a good defender because of his arm, I swear. The guy is absolutely horrendous out there.

QUOTE(CWSGuy406 @ Apr 29, 2006 -> 10:48 AM) ??? I always thought pretty highly of Magglio's defense, at least, pre-knee injury... Maggs was a very solid defender.

Cleveland kicks the shit out of Beckett
QUOTE(fathom @ Apr 27, 2006 -> 09:55 PM) I've seen more posts about people rooting for players against the Sox this year, cause they're on their fantasy team, than I saw all of last year. The Cy Young race isn't decided in April. If people really thought that Josh Beckett was going to win it, they're dumber than ESPN. LOL bingo. I never care about individual awards anyways, I think it'd be cool for one of our guys to win one if it comes to it but it's not even something I think about until late in September.

Cleveland kicks the shit out of Beckett
QUOTE(Gregory Pratt @ Apr 27, 2006 -> 09:51 PM) Anything that pushes Buehrle/Contreras forward in the Cy Young race by lowering the stats of others is fine by me. f*** the cy young race when it's at the expense of the al central race.

Cleveland kicks the shit out of Beckett
QUOTE(rangercal @ Apr 27, 2006 -> 09:21 PM) why all the becket hate? I will ALWAYS have a place in my heart for the 2003 marlins and Beckett is definately towards the top of that list. I think a lot of it has to do with him being a pompous jackass but also the fact that him and Schilling are gods in the media right now. I hate Beckett and Schilling and the Sawx as much as anyone but I definitely wish JB could have done this s*** against some other team.

QUOTE(fathom @ Apr 26, 2006 -> 09:25 PM) He's not going to need the bullpen. He'll go 120 pitches if he has a shutout still. 92 pitches, he's going to need the bullpen.

Kobe to wear number 24 next year
Kobe>Lebron imo. Kobe defends and Kobe doesn't pass every time his team is in a clutch situation, Kobe will take and most of the time make the big shot where as it seems like Lebron is almost afraid to take that shot. I agree that Shaq will never again win a title, I have no clue about Kobe at this point..to hard to predict what his teams will look like.

Top 10 Pitching Combinations
QUOTE(hammerhead johnson @ Apr 26, 2006 -> 01:23 AM) Yeah, they're only a combined 7-0 thus far. Have you looked at their WHIP, ERA, BAA numbers, etc? And by this time next month they'll both probably be on the dl.

QUOTE(SoxAce @ Apr 25, 2006 -> 11:30 PM) Well looking at Knight's sig, I think Rowand, Greasy, DBAH0 and I were the only ones to pick the Twins finishing ahead of them. Great minds think alike. Ha, I'm just hoping the Twins and Indians stay exactly where they are right now. The Indians at .500 and the Twins under.

QUOTE(DBAH0 @ Apr 25, 2006 -> 11:22 PM) Before the start of the season, the #1 question mark I had on the Tribe was their bullpen. It was always going to be hard for them to replace the output Howry, Rhodes and Riske had for them last season. And they've been lucky Mota's done the job for them so far. But the other guys haven't pulled their weight. And it shows how important a good bullpen is for a winning ballclub. Especially when you have mediocre starting pitching like they do.

4/25 Games
QUOTE(DBAH0 @ Apr 25, 2006 -> 11:12 PM) But now for the good news. Aaron Cunningham went 3 for 4 in the leadoff spot with 2 HR's (hitting .317 now). Salvador Sanchez went 3 for 5 with a 2B and a HR (hitting .234 now). Brandon Allen and Carter also homered. No Orlando today. I really like the look of Cunningham right now. He'd have an OPS of around .900, which after making the jump from rookie ball last season, is pretty damn good. He's becoming a very nice prospect, and I think more people are going to start taking notice of him. I like Cunningham a lot.

QUOTE(Heads22 @ Apr 25, 2006 -> 10:18 PM) Don't you love it when people talk about the Sox in just the deadest voice: "They can just decide to run away with it. They're scary." From the great John Kruk. He's been slurping us all night.
