  1. Gameday has decided to suck again. If anyone would do pbp it'd be much appreciated.
  2. QUOTE(Dick Allen @ Apr 24, 2006 -> 07:03 PM) Its just a matter of time before the bullpen will get a lot of work. They all made a ton of appearances last year. This year should be no different. Cotts isn't locating, but I think he'll be decent. I've been concerned with Politte since before spring training. The last time he made as many appearances as he did last year, the next season his ERA was around 6.00. Jenks seems to be coming around, although his fastball still seems to be AWOL from time to time. Logan goes from being thrown in to pitch to Hafner in a crucial situation, to not pitching in 10 days, and Thornton's lack of control during his career isn't going to be helped by not getting in a game. Eventually though, all will see some action, and I for one wouldn't mind Gload being replaced by a pitcher if they don't have a right handed hitting OF available. Ross may be a nice guy and a decent player, but his is a totally wasted roster spot right now. A 12th pitcher would be as much a waste of space as Ross.
  3. The offense will still score 5+ tonight, book it. I'm more worried about Jon. Hopefully he can step up tonight.
  4. Ya, he's a goner unfortunately.
  5. QUOTE(BobDylan @ Apr 24, 2006 -> 12:08 AM) Why get another solid bullpen arm if he's just going to rot away in the bullpen? Kenny got this five man rotation assembled so he wouldn't need anyone after Jenks, Politte, Cotts and McCarthy. That's a good point because right now we can't find any innings for these guys at all. Eventually we're obviously going to need a few of them but I really don't think it's going to be that much. Almost everytime out there we're going to get at least 7 innings out of our starters and with Bmac being able to go 2 when needed, we're hardly ever going to need the 5th and 6th guys in our pen to pitch in high pressure situations. Hell..so far this year we've only really needed 2 guys.
  6. QUOTE(ZoomSlowik @ Apr 24, 2006 -> 08:48 AM) He's a little small though, there aren't too many 6'3" SG's in the pros. He might make up for it with his athleticism, but my gut feeling is you just want him gone so the Illini don't have to deal with him. Ha, ya I'm almost positive that's what he meant. Shannon would probably be a 2nd round pick if he enters the draft, he should stay in school.
  7. QUOTE(hammerhead johnson @ Apr 23, 2006 -> 11:42 PM) Uh, you forgot Josh Barfield. That crop of up-and-coming players is crap IMO, even with Upton or whomever. There are some superstars and potential superstars to be found in that group, obviously, but if a knowledgeable baseball fan can only name like a dozen guys under the age of 27, then you have to admit that the situation is pretty f***ed up. Why is it f***ed up? There are hardly any white american players in the nba and nobody seems to complain about that.
  8. Also as far as the AL Central goes, it's improved but our greatest competition from last year did get worse. Minny and Detroit will be better then last year when all is set and done but Cleveland is worse then they were last year, no doubt in my mind there. Also, balta, Cleveland has avoided that slow start but they're also not going to win every single game in August and September like they did last year.
  9. This team is good enough to win 100 games but it's not getting anywhere near the 98 yanks or 01 Mariners marks.
  10. QUOTE(Balta1701 @ Apr 24, 2006 -> 09:46 AM) So wait a second...there's seriously a debate over which part of our starting rotation in the postseason was the most dominant, the guy who won two clinchers, the guy who won 3 games and got a save, or the guy who started off every series for us? Damn, I absolutely couldn't care less which one of them pitched better. All of their names are on the back of my t-shirt today. Oh I'm with you, I'm not debating who's the better in the postseason I'm just tired of hearing people say that Mark doesn't show up for big games. The guy had a 3.47 era last year in the playoffs and some people on here make it seem like he was horrible.
  11. QUOTE(Chisoxfn @ Apr 23, 2006 -> 10:21 PM) Just like I love Buehrle and watching him pitch. I like watching guys who just dissect the opposition, play great defense and do all the little things. Its got an old school mentality in a sense. Mulder is another guy that I like to watch pitch. I like quick working pitchers that throw strikes, work quick, and just have a total gameplan when they are on the mound. I also absolutely LOVE Pedro Martinez and how he pitches (especially when he was in his prime). Yup, I love pitchers who just know how to pitch, who don't necessarily have the best stuff but know wat the f*** they're doing out there. Pedro in his prime is the best pitcher I've ever seen.
  12. QUOTE(Chisoxfn @ Apr 23, 2006 -> 10:16 PM) I root for Maddux every start (Unless he's going against the Sox). I absolutely love the way he pitches. Maddux used to be one of my favorite pitchers in baseball basically for the same reason, I love pitchers like him. I'm not sure exactly why but I just started to dislike the guy(still love the way he pitches) for some reason and this was before he went to the Cubs.
  13. QUOTE(NYSox35 @ Apr 23, 2006 -> 10:03 PM) hilarious! These guys look like they are from Staten Island...not the South Side... this guy is clearly being funny... Trying to be.
  14. QUOTE(whitesoxfan101 @ Apr 23, 2006 -> 09:49 PM) Correct. Obviously it's a silly comparision, but MLB is working on getting AA kids to play ball kind of like the Sox are working on kids period to get them to be Sox fans with things like Fundementals. You may not see the results now, but a decade from now and 2 decades from now you will. It's still going to be hard to get African Americans to play baseball imo. I also agree that it's silly to worry about.
  15. QUOTE(Milkman delivers @ Apr 23, 2006 -> 09:30 PM) This guy is playing all of you like fiddles. He's just getting a rise out of you. There is no way he is serious with any of this. And I will give him credit. The things he is saying and the pictures he is posting are funny. I've kind of figured that as well but I'll play along because I got nothing better to do. If he is being serious then wow. But if he just came here to get a rise out of people then that is pretty sad as well.
  16. QUOTE(LeroySettle @ Apr 23, 2006 -> 09:27 PM) Whatever, you are real tough making fun of someone over the internet. But that is me in the back. Before you make fun of the shirt color just know that I got 3 phone numbers at the game that night, while you where probably home alone. Haha pink is the new black. Most of us are done with college, 2 of my friends are in there super senior years at UIC. Right now our tickets are upper deck, but hopefully in another year or two we'll have club level seats. This summer we are having a sky box party, its gonna be hot. Here is another photo of some of my friends before Saturday nights game: Dont be a playa hater! So you go to games to pick up girls, you like the wave and you throw balls back. Hmm......
  17. QUOTE(LeroySettle @ Apr 23, 2006 -> 09:51 AM) I love how people say the fans are annoying, bandwagoners, ect. Ive had season tickets for 3 years and to be honest the games are even better now. Even on weekday nights we are drawing decent amounts of people. Im glad people are showing up to support us. I love going to games with my boyz and being rowdy, and its even better with more people at the park. We run that place. Who cares if someone wants to throw a ball back after someone from the other team hits a homer. They caught the ball they can do what they want with it. It isnt just a "cubs" thing. Here is a picture of me and my boyz after Friday nights win at Jimbos You're in a boy band?
  18. QUOTE(YASNY @ Apr 23, 2006 -> 07:39 PM) Those are traditions for morons. Bingo.
  19. QUOTE(VAfan @ Apr 23, 2006 -> 06:36 PM) And the Count is the one guy we can count on in the postseason. Buehrle is a tremendous regular season pitcher because he's so consistent. But like Tom Glavine, he's beatable in a big game. I'd actually rate Freddie Garcia our second best money pitcher (assuming he really hasn't lost velocity). Did you happen to watch the postseason?
  20. That wasn't just a sweep, that was domination. We outscored them 23-6 in the series.
