  1. aboz, hearing any Billy Gillispe rumors?
  2. QUOTE(whitesoxfan101 @ Mar 20, 2006 -> 01:26 AM) I'm just going to ignore that sillyness. You are ignoring the entire thread with that post. If it takes silliness to point out the absurdity of the thread, then so be it.
  3. QUOTE(Buehrle>Wood @ Mar 19, 2006 -> 11:10 PM) Because ignoring the situation and letting the NCAA get away with things like this is much better. And posting on here will make the NCAA do something different how????
  4. QUOTE(whitesoxfan101 @ Mar 19, 2006 -> 10:39 PM) When will I give it up? Tomorrow morning, when the sweet 16 is set and it's time to root for the underdog and prepare for the next set of games. Would Illinois have defeated UConn? Hell no, but the fact the refs are the reason we aren't getting a chance isn't very fair. Seems to me if Illinois would have shot better than 39% from the field and 28% from 3-point range, they would have won. Don't see how the referees are responsible for them not making shots. I'm sure the conspiracy goes something like this..... "Let's hope Illinois shoots badly so we can screw them in the end, because we all know Washington is a much better TV draw." Oh and while we are at it, let's make sure North Carolina and Kansas get knocked out early because they have no national drawing power either. Makes sense to me!
  5. QUOTE(WilliamTell @ Mar 19, 2006 -> 09:14 PM) They're still in New York. I think it's great that the Missouri Valley Conference has 2 teams in the Sweet 16. But I still think conferences like the Big East and ACC are better than they are. Wichita St. who won the conference if I remember right played the 8th team in the Big East, which was Seton Hall. But none the less it's great seeing these teams win. I don't think ANYBODY is saying the MVC is as good of a league as the Big East or ACC, but that doesn't preclude it from deserving as many teams in the tournament as an ACC or Big 12. The difference is the seeds each conference gets.
  6. Good for the Valley.
  7. QUOTE(WHarris1 @ Mar 19, 2006 -> 04:02 PM) No, I have a feeling they did not call 6 hand checks outside the 3 pt line. ------------------------------------------------------------ And it's really easy for people that are not fans of Illinois or Indiana to just defend the refs and say it's a s***ty excuse, but if your team was involved in a game when your premier defender was not allowed to defend another teams star player you would be pissed too. But a debate about the refs is worthless because the people complaining about refs will be called homers, and the people that weren't fans of either team in the game will defend the refs. No point for this to continue. I'm as big of an IU fas as there is, and I am not blaming the refereeing on the loss last night. Gonzaga was just better. If IU didn't hit a barrage of 3's at the end, this would have been a 20-pt loss. Morrison and Batista both had 3 fouls early in the 2nd half, but IU didn't go after them. They didn't take it to them trying to draw their 4th foul. You CANNOT look at the 41-6 difference in FT's and automatically make assumptions the game was called unfairly. Many of those 41 attempts came in the final few minutes when IU was chasing them. IU shot 25 threes in the 2nd half, which doesn't give many opportunities to pick up fouls. Gonzaga had 9 steals in the game. They had countless offensive rebounds that were just back breaking for IU. It's hard enough to stop Gonzaga, but when you let them score on junk underneath from follow ups. How many times did IU slap the ball loose inside only to have a Gonzaga player come up with the ball and a basket? IU gave a great effort and played pretty well, but by no means great. I'd much prefer to just give Gonzaga credit on handling IU without Morrison being at his normal level. All of this stuff about conspiracies is just crap. Referees don't make or miss shots. They don't get rebounds. The don't decide to chuck up a 3 rather than drive. They don't make a steal or lose the ball out of bounds on the dribble. To even think the referees have that much control on the outcome of a game is laughable.
  8. QUOTE(aboz56 @ Mar 19, 2006 -> 04:56 PM) Scarlett Johansson http://www.imdb.com/name/nm0424060/ Sorry, I get all the technical terms mixed up. I meant your avatar.
  9. QUOTE(southsider2k5 @ Mar 16, 2006 -> 01:51 PM) Melissa deserved to be voted off last night, but it was definately a shocker to see Ace in the bottom 3. I definately would have liked to have seen Kevin voted off, but I understand Melissa going... I just can't believe Kevin wasn't in the bottom 3... Its like John Stevens all over again. :puke I have always felt that the "bottom 3" is complete bulls*** and used by the show to help shape the outcomes they want. If they want ace around longer, what better way to get his fan base to voter stronger than to make them think he is vulnerable. In this situation, Ace may have been in the bottom 3 (I don't think he is that good and his looks will only carry him so far), but I still think the producers tinker with the voting in that regard.
  10. QUOTE(aboz56 @ Mar 19, 2006 -> 04:49 PM) None, still going to be an IU fan though. My days of dislike towards the program due to Knight are over. IU is going to be a great program again very, very soon and I truly do believe that. GO HOOSIERS I agree. I am now interested in how the coaching search turns out. By the way, who is that in your sig?
  11. QUOTE(aboz56 @ Mar 18, 2006 -> 09:43 PM) I'm an IU alum, it's only fitting I've come around. Now give me Izzo in Bloomington and my ties to MSU are gone. And the chances of that happening are????? lol
  12. QUOTE(ChWRoCk2 @ Mar 18, 2006 -> 04:49 PM) I like kentuckys chance of knocking out uconn and wichita sts chance of taking down tenn I agree with the latter, but UConn will wake up and handle UK with no problem. The way Albany played them will hurt Kentucky's chances.
  13. Careful there aboz, I'm beginning to think you are switching your allegiance from the green and white to the crimson and cream.
  14. UConn losing would bust me too, but big damned deal. I'd love to see that upset!
  15. Albany not buying into big bad UConn. UConn up just one, 31-30 at the half.
  16. I finished the day at 12-4. I lost UNCW, Marquette, Oklahoma and Nevada. Had Wichita State and Texas A&M.
  17. QUOTE(ZoomSlowik @ Mar 17, 2006 -> 06:31 AM) The problem with that theory is that SDSU has some really good shooters, and they hit about 39% from downtown for the year. It's not like Alabama hitting all those shots when they shoot like 34% from there. Heath shoots a little over 41% and hits about 3 a game, Sharper shoots about the same percentage and hits more than 2 a game. Plus they have a good inside game to go with that, giving them a chance at some open shots. Heath actually didn't shoot that well, although Abukar and Williams each hitting 2 is a little weird. That's counteracted a bit by Vaden hitting more than he usually does. SDSU's outside shooting is one of the major reasons they were one of my big upset picks. Your reasoning still makes no sense. They shot 39% from 3-pt range for the season. They shot 22.6% on those same 3's in their three most recent games. By that you tell me you expected them to hit 55% of their 3-pointers for the game?? And 65% on all FG's 35 minutes into the game? Even if they shot better than normal, it could not be expected for them to shoot THAT well. And Vaden was 5-12, so there was no counteraction involving him. I'll give you credit for recognizing they had talent. But under semi-normal circumstances, IU wins that game comfortably.
  18. Okay, here is my question for those that watched the whole game closely.... Was IU's defense that bad or was SD St. just shooting unbelievably? I had to watch in a crowded bar with no sound, so it was hard to really pay attention as closely as I normally would. I know there were some breakdowns, but for the most part, I thought I saw better offense than bad defense. Thoughts anyone? Moving on, Calloway was definitely the key tonight. He just threaded their defense time after time because they were so focused on the three-point shooters. Monroe even did it a couple of times. Aboz, greasy, did you notice the lineup Davis had in there toward the end of the first half? If I recall correctly, he had Wilmont, Suhr, Monroe, Calloway and Ben Allen. Where they hell do you expect points to come from there?? Strange lineup. I'm still trying to figure out how IU can go from scoring 51 points to 87 in two consecutive games. Hell, they play like this, the score of the Gonzaga game might be 107-100! The bottom line is, win and move on. Lucky or not, at this point you have to look ahead and not worry about tonight.
  19. QUOTE(ZoomSlowik @ Mar 17, 2006 -> 05:38 AM) They still gave them a hell of a game, which is a lot more than a lot of you IU fans thought. If not for a dumb play by Heath and a good bounce before the shot, it would be a different story. You guys got the win, which is nice, but let's not make it sound like the Hoosiers dominated and are on their way to Indianapolis. I'll say this about that....... this was a great game and SD St. played very well. VERY WELL actually. I was guilty of saying IU would win by double digits, so I will eat a little crow. But I will say that I, and I am guessing you didn't, really think they would be shooting at a 65% clip 35 minutes into the game or 56% on three-pointers for the whole game. If SD State shot at a semi reasonable clip, IU would have won comfortably. But give them credit. They knocked down shot after shot after shot. IU was lucky to survive.
  20. QUOTE(Balta1701 @ Mar 16, 2006 -> 07:27 PM) s***, that puts the UCLA/Belmont game on at the same time as the Indiana/S.D. State game. Mother F***ing drug dogs. Now I'll almost guarantee you I won't get the IU game. UCLA Belmont game is game 2 in San Diego. The IU game is game 4 in SLC. Even with a 2-hour delay they won't conflict.
  21. IU wins by double digits. Book it!
  22. QUOTE(Brian @ Mar 16, 2006 -> 03:29 PM) What time you want me to come over and what should I bring? Come on! yoursef and beer are probably all that is necessary.
  23. Friday 1:55 in fabulous HDTV!!
  24. You may be talking to yourself on here, but I am at least reading it.
  25. QUOTE(Jordan4life_2006 @ Mar 15, 2006 -> 12:19 AM) Marquette/Alabama is another game I'm torn on. The Eagles have excellent permiter players, but their bigs are AWFUL. Alabama should murder them inside. This is a tough one. I'm not sold on Alabama outside of Tuscaloosa. The game isn't in Tuscaloosa, is it? If not, take the Eagles.
