  1. Yeah, but Katharine is still fun to look at.
  2. QUOTE(The Critic @ May 16, 2006 -> 09:21 PM) Threadjack Update: Brett Scallions, Fuel's former lead singer, is now playing bass for two bands, The X's and Circus Diablo ( with Billy Duffy from The Cult on guitar ). Rumor has it that Brett's voice is shot, but he strongly denies this. He had surgery to correct a deviated septum, but the things I've seen online indicate that this type of surgery would not damage the pitch or strength of a singing voice. Anyway, that's why the opening is there in Fuel, but no official word on whether that Chris guy has accepted the spot. He's under contract with American Idol until the end of the summer, so I wouldn't expect him to decide anything right away.
  3. I guess you know this by this point, but three songs each. First one chosen by Clive Davis, the second by one of the judges and the third chosen by the contestant. I thought Taylor was the best, followed by Katharine and then Elliott. I'll go ahead and predict that order of finish from here on out, even though I originally predicted Kat would win. I think Taylor just has too big of a following at this point.
  4. I miss watching that guy play. I really thought losing his energy would hurt the Sox this year. I'm glad I was wrong about that, but I would take him on my team anyday. On a different note, I love Harry Kalas' voice. I think I would listen to Phillies games if I could get them, just to hear him call a game.
  5. I don't like Gino's East's crust. It's like cornmeal or something. I don't recall it being that way when I went to the original one many years ago, but that was many years and beers ago, so maybe it was like that.
  6. QUOTE(The Critic @ May 11, 2006 -> 06:36 PM) For what it's worth, Chris is going to become the new singer for Fuel. They've struck a deal to buy out Chris' AI contract so he can record the new disc and then tour. There's some debate whether AI will allow this to happen until the summer tour ends. I like Fuel a lot, but I've never heard this guy sing. I hope he fits Fuel's sound. What happened to Fuel's previous lead singer?
  7. QUOTE(BB2ZZ @ May 11, 2006 -> 05:46 AM) I heard Dizard needed to take care of "family matters" and when he comes back someone would need to be sent down. Anyone know who the last man on the Baron's roster would be? Depends on if someone is hurt or struggling. They could just "DL" someone rather than send them down.
  8. Man, I thought I had pissed somebody off for a second!
  9. Katharine has looked the whole show like she was ready to go home. Chris gets the boot. Somewhat of a surprise, but not a total shock. Paula looked like an absolute basket case. Am I the only one that is sick of her??
  10. QUOTE(BHAMBARONS @ May 9, 2006 -> 01:57 AM) Yep, I have been on the replacement umps side but this incident should have been seen a mile away. Corey Smith was 8-15 against Jacksonville with 2 homers after being signed. Yet, if he would have shut his mouth and not popped off, pointing the bat at the pitcher, none of that crap would have happened.
  11. QUOTE(whitesox61382 @ May 10, 2006 -> 03:37 PM) As expected, Duval Karama(WR) commits to ND. Not much of a surprise. If they can land Benn as well, than they will have some serious pass catching weapons with the current #1 rated TE(Ragone), top 100 prospect(Karama), and #1 rated WR(Benn). If only they could get some highly related guys on the other side of the ball.
  12. QUOTE(Soxbadger @ May 10, 2006 -> 07:28 PM) http://collegebasketball.rivals.com/content.asp?cid=542183 I was just going on Rivals to see football stuff, but I happened to see the article title so I thought I would look. I dont know how real this is, or if there is any merit. But it would be the worst scenario for Indiana if they have to fire Sampson. It won't happen. It's simply insurance in case the NCAA finds more stuff or pounds him 3x as hard as is expected.
  13. QUOTE(LosMediasBlancas @ May 9, 2006 -> 10:27 AM) I agree, the whole thing could have been a fifteen minute special, eight minutes of prep time and the 7 minutes he was in the water. I'm thinking ABC wouldn't be televising it then, ya know? The production was totally for the TV audience. For those that can remember the days of Evil Knievel, his jumps lasted 45 seconds, but they had to build it up. His specials were at least an hour long for a 45-second motorcycle jump. Same difference.
  14. I agree, I think Taylor will do very well commercially. Taylor is also someone that would play well live. Can you imagine going to an Elliott concert? That would be complete boredom. I didn't see (or hear) what everyone must have in Elliott last night. I think he has a great voice, but I wasn't buying what he was selling last night. I didn't buy into his version of Trouble at all, and I thought his first song was boring as hell. Katharine definitely didn't have a good night last night, but with Elvis as the theme, it wasn't too surprising. I hope she stays tonight and Elliott goes tonight.
  15. He made it right at 7 minutes before I think he started to black out. They said they would be looking for air bubbles coming out of his mouth and that's what happened. When more than a couple came out, the divers jumped in, unshackled his feet and pulled his head above the water and helped him breathe.
  16. QUOTE(aboz56 @ May 8, 2006 -> 08:07 PM) Jason Mraz is mainstream. He's had a couple albums out and is on MTV and all that pretty consistently. From the post you responded to I thought maybe you were thinking he was up and coming or an independent label guy. He's had a few top 40 hits now. Shows you how much I have paid attention to music lately.
  17. QUOTE(DABearSoX @ May 7, 2006 -> 05:01 PM) If you were here I would kiss you You'd have to be much better looking than I think you are to pull that one off. LOL`
  18. QUOTE(Kid Gleason @ May 8, 2006 -> 10:53 AM) There is a ton of great stuff out there to buy. Just none of it is on major labels, and none of it is on the radio/MTV/VH1 or any other cabel video station. Ever heard of Jason Mraz? I'm not up on music like I used to be, but here was here on Saturday at the previously mentioned festival. I heard he was really good.
  19. I haven't been to Indy in several years, but I can only imagine it has gotten better. About 20 years ago, they made a conscious choice to clean up the downtown area and grow based on sports. The biggest things you need to know is that the downtown area is pretty clean and safe. As previously mentioned, Broad Ripple area has many bars/entertainment for 20somethings. Listen to Bob & Tom every day and you will laugh your ass off! As far as living, Greenwood, which is just SW of the city wasn't too bad an area in the past. Aside from there, most of the better areas are north of the city. Castleton, Fishers, Carmel, etc. They aren't gonna be cheap though. Then again, you get what you pay for.
  20. I'm a huge David Blaine fan. He does some whacked out stuff. I have always felt that the human body/mind is capable of going well beyond what most people think of as normal. I'm definitely watching tonight.

Aside from the first episode, I think this season has been pretty boring. I hope the last few episodes pick it up.
  22. QUOTE(Texsox @ May 7, 2006 -> 08:58 AM) I was thinking the same thing. It may be time for 1-800-Lou To Go Here you go - Order everything Chicago
  23. Two former managers of Eduardos own a local place down here in Hoover (burb of Birmingham). They serve up a pretty mean deep dish, as good as the big boys in Chicago.
  24. Taylor has been playing across the state and in college towns around the South with his own Taylor Hicks Band. I have never seen him, but know many that have and they all said they put on a great show. I was hearing good things about him long before the final 24 this year. They played in Birmingham two weekends before AI went live with the final 24 and unfortunately I missed the opportunity to catch them. His band is still playing without him now as the Little Memphis Blues Orchestra. AI prevents them from keeping the name even without Taylor.
  25. QUOTE(Kid Gleason @ May 6, 2006 -> 08:04 AM) Hell man, how is Cowboy Mouth??? Dumbest name in the world, but I have always heard such great things about them, and their live shows look friggin' amazing! Are you familiar with them before seeing them live recently? Cowboy Mouth is good. They got rolling down here in the South, so I have seen them live 3 or 4 times. They have a lot of energy and put on a good show. Some of their bigger songs are older now, so I kind of would like to hear something new from them. The show overall was excellent last night. Great weather for an outdoor event and the beer was flowing. But after dropping almost $100 last night, I decided to sit tonight out. Live is excellent live and I will miss seeing them. Have you heard of a band called American Minor? They played early in the afternoon today. I have never seen them but a couple of people last night were really talking them up calling them an up and coming band. American Minor web site
