UNC vs. Illinois
This is where Illinois is missing Randle..... and possibly regretting not getting Shaun Pruitt more minutes this year.

UNC vs. Illinois
Is it just me or does there seem like there is a timeout every 2 minutes?

No need for them....... they're called media credentials. So "supposedly" someone is just making s*** up.

Observations
QUOTE(jackie hayes @ Apr 5, 2005 -> 12:53 AM) Great game for Buehrle, and it won't be his last one, but... Even Sandy Koufax wouldn't throw more than a few games like that in a full season in this age, based in this stadium. We can't count on this, we need more offense. I'd hope not. The guy is 69 years old!!!!

QUOTE(danman31 @ Apr 5, 2005 -> 12:44 AM) Bull said I was wrong, which doesn't surprise me as I was saying it off memory alone. I think he said he is staying in extended Spring Training. On a side note, can someone please explain what extended ST exactly is and what the point of it is? Basically just additional training camp/games for returning rookie league players and for players coming off injuries.

MVP Baseball 2005
QUOTE(bulokis @ Apr 4, 2005 -> 11:15 PM) When will the roster updates for MVP online be available? not sure....... I was thinking about that about an hour ago. I may try to see if there is an update online. I would imagine it will be at least a week or two before the minor league rosters can be purchased.

38 minor leaguers busted for steroids
QUOTE(Gene Honda Civic @ Apr 4, 2005 -> 10:35 PM) Full list -- http://espn.go.com/minorlbb/news/2005/0404/2029818.html 1 Sox minor leaguer on there. José Espinal -- listed as a Baron, but according to bull, he wasn't on the roster. He probably has a AA contract. Many guys have contracts that are higher than the level they are playing. Plus, with the suspension, they don't have to assign him anywhere.

MVP Baseball 2005
QUOTE(Mathew @ Apr 4, 2005 -> 07:54 PM) And young MVP's turn to s***. This game sucks. Umm...... did you go through player progression? Did he regress that much or are you just steamed about spring training stats?

Another name I didn't see is Thomas Brice. Is he headed back to Winston as well?

MVP Baseball 2005
QUOTE(Mathew @ Apr 4, 2005 -> 11:16 AM) I'm sure this has been asked, but I'm not reading through 65 pages to see. Is there any way to influence how players improve or digress in spring training, on owner mode? I had Carl Crawford on my team, he won the MVP the previous season and then got way worse in spring which made no sense. Plus where do I put guys in the spring does that matter A, AA, AAA, majors. Do their spring stats influence it, cause I don't play I manage all my games. Or is it just lame ass random and a league MVP who's early 20's can suddenly suck for no reason? At the end of Spring Training each year, the game will simulate player progression. Some players improve, some go backwards. The player progression is detailed, so a player may improve in one area and regress in another. For example, a pitcher's fastball may lose some while his curveball gets better. I wouldn't put a whole lot of stock in Spring Training stats, however, just like in real life.

QUOTE(southsideirish @ Apr 4, 2005 -> 05:05 AM) I heard a while ago that most scouts and teams are looking at him as a TE, not a WR. key words = a while ago Some teams may still have that in mind, but I think most now believe he could be a wide receiver, or at the very least a hybrid type player they can create with.

MVP Baseball 2005
Something that has been bugging me..... On one of the hint/tip screens that appear when a game is loading, it tells you how to slide. It says to bowl over the catcher to move the right minijoystick UP. Well I have tried that many times and it has never worked. Has anyone else had any success with that?

For those of you in St. Louis and old enough to imbibe, be sure to have a few for me down on Laclede's Landing. I've had a few wild times down there. Great area!!

Iraq intelligence 'dead wrong'
QUOTE(YASNY @ Apr 1, 2005 -> 09:40 AM) Let's look at what would be said under a different scenario .... like Saddam just nuked Tele Viv. "Even though there very little hard evidence collected, at the first inkling of the possiblilty something should have been done. Saddam Hussein has already shown the capability to both use WMD's and to target Isreal with missiles." It's pretty easy to criticize in hindsight isn't it Yas? lol If I knew at 18 what I know now, I would be pretty damned dangerous. I might have even made some different decisions on a few things that at the time, made good sense based on the information/experience I had. Not so hard a concept to understand is it? One can criticize almost anything in hindsight, whether they have a preconceived notion to do so or not.

UNC vs. Illinois
QUOTE(Palehosefan @ Apr 3, 2005 -> 04:12 AM) What a matchup this will be, two great teams, lots of great players, two of the classiest coaches in all of sports. Felton and McCants should pretty much cancel out with Williams and Brown, so it should come down to how Illini handles May down low, and how UNC handles Head on the perimeter. What a treat this will be for even the casual fans, two beautiful passing teams and lots of grit from guys like Roger Powell and Jawad Williams. Needless to say, I'm more than excited. (hopefully my nails grow back by then because DAMN they hurt right now) I saw a lot of really great basketball tonight. Plays that made me say wow. I really appreciate that kind of basketball and it was a pure joy to watch. Monday night should be more of the same.

QUOTE(CWSGuy406 @ Apr 3, 2005 -> 12:11 AM) Rex, what do you think about Munoz back in the bullpen? I know that a lot of people feel that's where he's better suited, but do you think he'll be able to rebound from his poor numbers last season? I think the bullpen is where he belongs. I can't recall his numbers last year. As far as I could tell, he had recovered just fine last year in Charlotte. Don't be fooled by the one start in Chicago.

Names I didn't see....... Yofu? Martel? Person? Ulacia?

Rosters
QUOTE(danman31 @ Apr 2, 2005 -> 06:52 AM) I don't get why this guy is thought of so highly in the org. His numbers aren't very good. I expect him to struggle in AAA, at least at first, just because he hasn't done exceptionally well at the lower levels. Plus, he barely played any AA. And what's with Young skipping W-S? So much for him being 'raw'. AA will be a challenge for Young, but apparently he had a really good spring. The love for Lopez is all in his hands. He is extremely smooth at SS. Not so great a hitter, but a damned good defensive SS.

Ulacia staying in extended ST or did he get released?

Bull thanks for the info and sorry to hear you are coming back to Birmingham. Perhaps I'll let you buy me a beer or two sometime this year. I know this isn't where you want to be, but I you have been good for Birmingham, so it's good to have you back. on the Opening Night start. Some of this surprised me........ I had heard Young was making a push to start in Bham, but didn't really think it would happen. I am excited about getting to see him play. I pretty much knew Lopez was headed for AAA, especially when Valdez was lost. One thing that surprised me is that Malone will be heading north. I had been told he would rehab in extended ST until he was ready to start. Heard that as recently as the beginning of ST. Phillips and Villacis both making the AAA rotation did surprise me some also. I had hopes for Bull making the Charlotte bullpen, but when you have five deserving lefties, something has to give. In all honesty, I had kind of forgotten about Dave Sanders. The AA bullpen should be pretty strong. I didn't know the Sox has signed Willie Glen, but I think he will help. He is a smallish guy who has a pretty good arm. He played college ball at Evansville, so I have been somewhat familiar with him. Ace has got be sick of Bham, but its a chance to play ball. Looking at AAA, six outfielders seems pretty odd. You listed 27 players on the AAA roster so someone will have to move somewhere, whether it is in a trade or the DL. As listed, there are 12 pitchers, six infielder, six outfielders and three catchers. Something has to give there. I'm surprised Becker got sent to Charlotte, but then again I was surprised to see that he had re-signed anyway. I hope Spidale gets the chance to play everyday, but I don't see it happening. Bull, any chance Spidale's arm had gotten any better???? Where did Felix Martinez come from? I have heard of Coquillete, but don't know anything about him. That's all, off the top of my head. Thanks again, Bull. PM me if you want to buy me a beer sometime!

QUOTE(Palehosefan @ Mar 31, 2005 -> 10:46 PM) Worst scouting report ever? http://michiganstate.scout.com/2/365103.html I could not see anything besides the opening paragraph. The rest was in a premium area. What did you have a problem with?

QUOTE(Spiff @ Mar 31, 2005 -> 05:51 PM) But Richt has put him in on every third series or so for the last two or three years and he's always made the offense stall. He's not very good at all. I don't think the amount of time he has gotten is fair to evaluate his abilities overall. There is something to be said for being the #1 QB, for getting all the reps in practice with the first team, for getting consistent opportunities, rather than a series or two each game. He may not turn out to be great, but I don't think what he has done so far is a fair measuring stick.

QUOTE(IlliniKrush @ Mar 31, 2005 -> 04:33 PM) Just picked up my final four tickets...was offered $1,200 for them right after picking them up. They sure don't know me too well. Would $1,200 apiece get you into a good seat at a sports bar? lol

You ready for this SS2K?
I know I hated it when Evansville was on the same time as Indy half the year and an hour behind the other half. It was confusing as hell. Especially near the border areas.
