  1. QUOTE(bulokis @ Mar 27, 2005 -> 04:29 AM) where did you get bmac? did you make him or downloaded the latest rosters? He is listed on the Charlotte roster under a different name. If you look at Charlotte's pitchers, it won't be hard to tell which one, but I can't recall the name. I simply changed the name using the Edit Player feature.
  2. Are the Bulls playing in the Chicago Regional?? I thought that regional was down to Illinos and Arizona??
  3. I can't stand Musburger. Not exactly sure why, but just don't like him at all. I like Raftery. I think Raftery and Lundquist are a good combination. And can somebody tell me what the hell happened in the UNC-Nova game last night? I turned it off with UNC ahead by 10 with like 2 minutes left. How in the hell did Villanova make it close?
  4. That actually sounds familiar. His number in MVP is 50 and I don't think I changed it, so that may be where they got it.
  5. Am I the only one that thinks Billy Packer's days as a good announcer are long gone? Jim Nance was covering up his mistakes the whole night. I thought he was not so biased toward the ACC as he was just bad in general.
  6. so much for this thread continuing.......
  7. Watch the game tomorrow. More than likely he would stay with the number he has now. I doubt that they gave him #87 this year. Numbers in the Minor Leagues vary. I doubt his # was the same at all three levels last year. Can't recall off the top of my head what it was in Bham? It was a high #.
  8. QUOTE(greasywheels121 @ Mar 26, 2005 -> 03:12 AM) The greatest.conference.ever. in the ACC only has the possibility of getting 1 team in the Elite Eight. That's what I find funny. Top to bottom it was still a better league than the Big Ten this year. But just as I don't think the ACC was 7-2 (ACC/Big Ten Challenge results) better than the Big Ten, I am not going to crow now that the Big Ten was a better league. In this tournament, the Big Ten has done well with their top three teams. I'll enjoy it just like that.
  9. Talking about revenge for a game that occurred in 2001 seems to be a bit of a stretch to me, but hey, that's just me. Either way, I hope they win.

QUOTE(southsider2k5 @ Mar 26, 2005 -> 03:01 AM) And then you get to 31 and realize you don't know a damned thing Exactly!
  11. Paul Davis definitely showed what he can do tonight. They will need that kind of performance from him consistently if they want to keep winning.
  12. QUOTE(aboz56 @ Mar 26, 2005 -> 02:36 AM) So much for all of those saying the Big 10 wasn't any good this year. The Big Ten was down, that's legit. Three good teams at the top do not make a great 11 team league.
  13. That was random.......
  14. QUOTE(JimH @ Mar 26, 2005 -> 02:57 AM) I've not been to that park, but I've seen Chris Young play the last two spring trainings, he is talented. He actually has gotten into quite a few games this spring. I believe it is..... but he had 21 doubles in short season Bristol and Grat Falls the year before. Thirteen in only 55 games his first year. I am keeping my fingers crossed that he will somehow find his way into the Birmingham outfield in 2 weeks. Not holding my breath, but apparently he is still playing with the AA club in ST and hasn't been "sent down" to the Winston club yet. How nice would a Sweeney, Young and Owens OF be to start the year in Bham?

QUOTE(Heads22 @ Mar 26, 2005 -> 01:57 AM) It took you til what, 24, to know it all Mike? Hell I knew it all at 15. All you had to do is ask me back then.
  16. thread hijackers!!!!!!!!!
  17. That makes NO sense to me at all. Why in the hell would they have to pay income taxes on an asset before they sell it and realize the income? You don't pay taxes on a stock that skyrockets, until you sell it and actually realize the profit. Also, I am no accountant, but I am pretty sure that the tax code allows for up to $250,000 capital gain on a home before you have to pay income taxes. I guess California state taxes could be the issue here rather than federal taxes, but this still makes no sense. So what if they get taxed on the "value of the upgrade" and the housing market bottoms out in California in the next few years? Do they get money back? Hell no. I just can't see a situation where you would be taxed on something you own until you actually gain the profits from it. Property taxes I can understand. As as aside, I think that is why they are setting up these families currently with funds to pay for increased home expenses. As far as the family in Bham goes, all is good as far as I can tell. It's only been about a month or two, but who knows. It can't be easy for them because it is next to impossible for both parents to work with 7 kids. I know they did pay for a nanny service for the family for one year, so maybe that will allow the mother to work to help out. The father is a teacher, so who knows what the future will be for them 2-3 years from now, especially if the mother can't/doesn't work. Looking back at that story, makes me question it even more. If their property taxes only doubled after the renovation, how in the hell could income tax from the increased value be "several hundred thousand" dollars? I know California is a messed up state, but that math just doesn't add up. Perhaps the value of the home went up several hundred thousand dollars, but income tax on that money would be much less. If the value of the home went up so much that the income tax from the increased value was several hundred thousand dollars, then the property tax would sure hell more than double. It would unless the California tax code is THAT screwed up.
  18. QUOTE(He_Gawn @ Mar 25, 2005 -> 08:27 PM) But he also could shut down anyone. He had to guard Williams and Hollis Price. The guy knows defense. Oh I know, I wasn't knocking Fife as a player overall, just taking a little fun stab at that one play. If we hadn't won that game, I'd be trying to forget that play.......
  19. QUOTE(JimH @ Mar 25, 2005 -> 05:22 PM) There are people who are more impressed with Sweeney than Anderson. Count me as one of them. I think Sweeney has the potential to make a greater impact, he's got a good eye at the plate and his arm is even better than I thought. No knock at all on Anderson but Sweeney and BMac are the top two prospects the White Sox have IMO. Might I add that Chris Young just may have more upside than both Anderson and Sweeney? If ranking them in terms of pure upside you would rank them: 1. Young 2. Sweeney 3. Anderson If ranking them in terms of sureity of making an impact in the big leagues, you'd switch Anderson and Young and leave Sweeney in the middle. What makes Sweeney so attractive is the balance between more of a sure thing than Young, yet having a high upside.
  20. QUOTE(aboz56 @ Mar 25, 2005 -> 07:33 PM) Washington the worst No. 1 Seed ever. They got owned by the Ville. It's going to be interesting if U of L and Illinois meet. Actually aboz, they didn't. Aside from U of L's 13-0 run toward the end of the first half when Robinson and their other guard were on the bench with three fouls, it was a pretty even game. Louisville won a 40 minute game by dominating about 3 minutes.
  21. QUOTE(Palehosefan @ Mar 25, 2005 -> 02:43 AM) Wow thats an awesome accomplishment. Not to mention taking a title away from a Dukie never hurts Let's just hope he doesn't teach his players to make fouls as stupid as the one he committed on Jayson Williams in that game. Maybe the dumbest foul in a tight game I have ever seen. Fortunately, things worked out for him, but he could have been a big time goat there.
  22. No way in hell Arizona shoots 66% from the floor for the game again on Saturday. Good win for the Illini. Three down, three to go........
  23. QUOTE(Gene Honda Civic @ Mar 24, 2005 -> 03:41 AM) Rex, I didn't even count the players on the big league roster. I just wrote in the players who I thought would make the team. Thanks for that advice though. I'll try to keep it as accurate as possible during the season, but right now it's just so hard to project all those spots. (it would be like trying to guess the NCAA brackets before they came out.) You're exatly right that it is next to impossible at this point to project everything. One injury can sometimes have a trickle down effect and actually affect 3 or 4 players. I like what you are doing and will help if I can. Just ask if you need anything.
  24. Agreed....... I can't figure out why a guy who has been in AA keeps re-signing with a team that keeps him back in A ball. Makes no sense. On Malone...... Last I heard his rehab was going well, but they had set up his rehab so that he will remain in Extended ST until he is ready to start, rather than have him break with a club and work out of the bullpen. If nothing has changed in that regard, expect him to join Birmingham (most likely destination) as soon as he is ready, but don't expect him there when camp breaks.
