  1. Hankins is a free agent. The ball is in hs court now and he can sign with whichever team he chooses. All minor league players earn free agency after six full seasons if they are not on the MLB 40-man roster. Rivera was either traded or released duing the 2004 season. Chris Stewart is the only catcher at the higher levels with the Sox that has a chance. His bat is weak, but he is an excellent catch and throw receiver. My guess is he is backup material if he gets there.
  2. He should fit right in with the NBA.
  3. And there, the argument is put to rest.
  4. I guess I just didn't see that much of a delay..... and I watched it 3 or 4 times. Separately, greasy, you do know that Majerus got his start at Ball St, right? He would definitely know how to coach in this state. His success at Ball St. got him the Utah job.
  5. I was just thinking that I would love to see Majerus come home to Indiana if he can get himself in shape by next year. The thought occurred to me right after he originally accepted the USC job.
  6. What can you do if you are IU? Villify your own guy? I watched it several times last night and honestly felt okay with it. The ball hit the player's hands and started. We are talking tenths of a second here. The person running the clock can't flip the switch (or hit the button or whatever) until the ball touches the player's hands. He can't hit it early anticipating the timing of him touching it. Inevitably, there will be some delay based on human reaction time. I look at that as normal and uncontrollable. What I prefer to take from this game is that I saw improvement offensively. I saw an offense that looked like it had a clue for the first time all year. There were no scoring droughts as there had been. Bracey got his points, but didn't have to force anything to get them. He didn't have to be the offense, but rather got his points from within it, for the most part. Losing six in a row was tough, but we can't look back. No more "tough schedule" excuses. No more "we're young" excuses. It's time to get better every game. It's time for Davis to prove he can coach and develop a team over the course of a season. If he can't, he'll be gone plain and simple. I look forward to the next 2-3 weeks to see if they can build a somewhat viable offense. If they do that, they will win some games. Time to look ahead, not behind.
  7. He was a roving instructor and then took over at Winston-Salem when they fired Ken Dominguez.
  8. In the Creighton game notes... Another thing about tonight's game....... One of the officials car ended up in a ditch or was held up because another car was in a ditch or something like that. They played the game with only two referees and you could tell a major difference. There were plays that happened that neither referee was close enough to see clearly. A couple of times on balls out of bounds, you could tell they were pretty much guessing based on the reactions of the players. I saw a lot of little things in a game tonight that I wouldn't have even given a thought to if there were three officials. They let 'em play too. Neither team even got to the bonus at the free throw line until the last minute of the game. Officials can't see everything that goes on under normal circumstances, but they see even less when there are only two of them. lol The resemblance in a coat and tie isn't so great, but on the court, he kept reminding me of Cottsy all night.
  9. The end of the IU game was interesting in that it ended in similar fashion to the Evansville-Creighton game tonight. I went to that game and Evansville hit a buzzer beater to win 63-61, that the officials reviewed before they left the court. Everyone else seemed to know it because Evansville was already in the locker room and most, if not all of Creighton's team was as well. It was a great game to watch. Unfortunately only bout 2500 saw it because of all the freakin snow! That was a big win for Evansville though. They start the conference 1-0 and bounced back after losing in the final second to Purdue last Saturday. By the way, Nate Funk is Creighton's best player. He looks like Neal Cotts on a basketball court. Similar build, mannerisms and hair. LOL
  10. At this point, there is no shame in losing to Charlotte. They won C-USA last year and have been to the NCAA Tournament three years in a row. They are no gimme. But you are correct in a larger sense. I taped thegame because I was out with my parents tonight. I get halftime and final scores texted (?) to my wireless phone and when I told my dad the halftime score was 35-31 Charlotte, we both looked at each other and commented that wasn't too bad. Thirty seconds later I said to him "you know it is a sad state for Indiana basketball, when expectations are so low you don't mind being within four points of Charlotte at halftime. At home no less..." I agree change is likely on the horizon, but I'll stick with them. I did see improvement tonight in the areas I have been b****ing about so consistently. Bracey got his points, but he got them within the flow of the game. He didn't force much. The offense looked as if it had 3/4 of a clue tonight, which is much better than it has been. I hated to see them lose the way they did tonight, but they played better. They now have three winnable games before the Big Ten starts. Let's hope they can make the season respectable and continue to improve. By the way, lovely weather down here in Southern Indiana tonight.
  11. Rivals.com had him #1 in the country. I know all of that is arguable, but at least one respected source gives him that honor. How you rate the top WR vs. the top LB or the top QB I have no idea. Seems like it would be a crapshoot to me.
  12. try watching the show in High Definition! Even better
  13. I'm still not finding this video....... did you guys find it? Can someone email it to me?
  14. NBA challenging the ruling in court..... Don't expect O'Neal back on Saturday. per ESPN News
  15. The Cardinals need starters at both positions.
  16. Is that not the clinical definition of "jackass"?
  17. Rex Hudler replied to a post in a topic in FutureSox Board
He's a marginal prospect. He's a solid minor league pitcher. No character issues. Nothing more, nothing less.
  18. They are soon to vote to extend teh regular season to 12 games in all years. I think that takes us farther from a playoff than ever.
  19. As of right now, all we know is that they offered him arbitration. The Sox still have options of going to arbitration, signing him to a one-year deal or offering him a multi-year deal.
  20. Ohio St. QB Troy Smith has been suspended and will not play in the Alamo Bowl.
  21. He might make about three times what he was going to make here..... or more
  22. Pretty cool.......... and a good tune to go along with the video.
  23. Yes........ the player's union won't sign off on it otherwise.
  24. I'm leaning on putting a couple of bucks on Pittsburgh to cover..... anyone think I shouldn't AND have a good argument behind you? lol
