  1. Possibly.... lots of variables, but it certainly wouldn't surprise me.
  2. While rosters are still not completely set, I am told there will be some surprises on the Minor League rosters. I don't have details, but I was told Birmingham would be a very veteran oriented club. Some of the names discussed earlier in this thread may be changing places as well. There were several players released within the past few days from Minor League camp, but I have not yet seen a list in the transactions. Some may be slight surprises. Perhaps Mr. Bullard will be willing to discuss names in his chat. I don't know if they are encouraged to discuss those kinds of things or not.
  3. My guess is Upton will be in Montgomery and Greinke will be in Omaha. Minor League rosters aren't official until the team breaks camp and is on the plane to their city. I have heard of changes all the way up until hours before the plane takes off, so you never know for sure.
  4. Why would Miles #'s be inflated in Colorado?
  5. Again, let me restate that this I am playing a hunch........ But based on that hunch, you are in the right neighborhood..... that is all i will say for now.
  6. Player Team W L ERA G GS CG SHO SV IP H R ER HR HBP BB SO N Cotts CWS 0 - 1 3.86 4 0 0 0 0 7.0 5 3 3 0 1 1 6 This does not include today's start or appearances in B games.
  7. There might be one more unexpected move before ST ends. Might not happen, but think bullpen.
  8. I think Miles will be a doubles machine this year and add a nice dose of triples. Count him as a candidate for ROY.
  9. Jason, you need a date!
  10. Jason, when did Burke and Dransfeldt look like they were going to make the roster? Unless I am missing something, before Timo it was one or the other, if they kept 12 pitchers. Now, if they stick with 12, it is doubtful that Burke will make the club.
  11. Let's not get boot happy......
  12. Chicago area only........
  13. I am totally guessing...... but my hunch is he could end up back in Winston-Salem rather than heading to Birmingham, where we all thought he would be. This is only a hunch based on numbers. IF Reed, Borchard and Valenzuela are all in AAA, then you have to choose your AA outfielders from the following group: Scott Bikowski, Darren Blakely, Micah Franklin, Normand Martel, Nate Murphy, Jaisen Randolph, Eric Welsh and Mike Spidale. Charlotte will likely need two of those outfielders..... Micah Franklin will definitely be one. He is 30 and played professionally in Japan for four years, in addition to a lot of AAA time and a cup of coffee with the Cardinals in 1997. The 5th OF may be Bikowski, but that would leave him without much playing time. Murphy could be the 5th OF there, if they even have one. Remember AAA carries one less player than the Majors. Even if Bikowski stays in Charlotte, Blakely, Martel, Randolph, Murphy and Welsh are all possibles ahead of Spidale. Of course, a guy or two could be released or hurt (thought Bullard said something about Randolph not playing). Blakely has four years of AA under his belt, so he isn't likely to go to Winston. It becomes a numbers game when they sign a lot of free agents like they have (and do every year). Some guys get squeezed back a level.
  14. Nope, just trying to bring you into the next generation of technology in TV.... plus it is some really cool stuff. ;-)
  15. Even with no payments or interest for 12 months? ;-)
  16. It just depends on what you want, but I think you can find some as low as $1,000. The best way to do it is invest in a large widescreen. It makes everything look better from movies to sports. I have a 48" Mitsubishi widescreen and I think they are available now for around $1,700.
  17. No, if you have their HDTV package, there is no extra charge.
  18. He's your guy because you have mentioned him several times...... You have seen him more than anyone else here. By the way, what are your thoughts in comparing Spidale and Normand Martel?
  19. Nomar to miss opening day with inflamed achilles..... Nomar doubtful with Achilles tendon injury
  20. For those of you with Comcast and an HD-ready TV, jump on this opportunity to pick up their HDTV package if you don't already have it. It will be well worth the few extra bucks a month. COMCAST TO ADD WGN-DT TO LINE-UP IN CHICAGO JUST IN TIME FOR CUBS & SOX BASEBALL
  21. That's exactly why it may just be a lefty that heads to Charlotte instead. Then again, depending on what they do with several minor league free agent pick ups, there may not really be an opening anyway. Overcrowding seems to be an issue with AA and AAA pitchers. I do think Bajenaru deserves his shot at AAA, so I can't disagree with you in principle.
  22. I am not sure why people seem to feel the need to declare a winner in a trade. Whether we came out on top or not means squat. If a trade works for both clubs, then it is a great trade. We filled a need and gave up a pitcher that was going to be in AAA and was behind others. Ginter may work out well for the Mets at some point, but the bottom line is, this trade helped the Sox now. Trading Ginter was not mortgaging the future.... trading a Kris Honel at this point, would be.

Could be........ but I don't see Jackson as anyone who assumes he is on the team. Perhaps he does, but that would surprise me.
  24. The Sox signed several free agents in the off season. Some will hurt existing guy's chances. I hate to say it, but your guy Spidale might be one of those guys that lose out. I think most of the others will be pitchers.
