  1. He's on a one-year contract. If you cut him, you still have to pay him.
  2. Cerb, you ought to check out a few other threads.... That was has already been covered too. ;-)
  3. Looks like you missed the thread posted earlier with those results. LOL
  4. I would be surprised to see it happen, strictly because that means putting Cotts on the 40-man before they need to. It could happen, however. I heard the same little rumbling last week. If he pitches Saturday, obviously he would not pitch in the Futures Game on Sunday. I think Stewart should get the call, but I don't think a spot start and then rturn trip to AA would hurt Cotts. I don't think it hurt Wells either. Calling Wells up for good too soon is what hurt him.
  5. Nice article on Barons catcher Carlos Maldonado.... Verbal Versatility
  6. Here is a story on Neal Cotts in Monday's Birmingham News... Cotts Hasl Lots Going For Him
  7. Five Barons played in last night's Southern League All-Star Game in Jacksonville, FL. The Eastern Conference won the game for the first time in 15 years. Cotts was the starting pitcher for the West and threw one scoreless inning, all three outs on groundouts. Jeff Bajenaru also added a scoreless frame, allowing just one hit. Scott Dunn in his first appearance in a Barons uniform, allowed one unearned run in his one inning appearance. He also walked one but struck out the side. Gabe Alvarez went 1-4 with an RBI. Carlos Maldonado went 0-2.
  8. You mean whether to keep him on it or not? I don't see them taking him off just yet.
  9. I thought you were back on the Ross Gload bandwagon again, Jim. LOL
  10. I'm just surprised that Varitek was leading and not Giambi.
  11. I do know that starters have won many times throughout the years, just don't know specifically which ones. It is just not that often that a team takes the lead early in the game and never relinquishes it. I do believe there is a limit of 3 innings on at least the starting pitchers, but can't swear to it.
  12. I believe the starting pitcher (and maybe all pitchers) is limited to 3 innings. The starter used to go 3 innings routinely when I grew up, as long as he didn't get knocked out. It has just been the last 10-15 years that things really changed in how the All-Star game was played.
  13. It's not even close to one of the worst. It is middle of the pack at worst and more likely will pop back into the top 10 after this year.
  14. f***ing guy is hitting .500!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! 34-68 f***ING YIKES! Actually he is 36-72 now. Added a 2-4 Sunday.
  15. ESPN just ran what they called the REd Sox Dirty Dozen. It was 12 games this season in which they have blown games. It was ugly. If White Sox fans think they have it bad, they should have seen this. I felt sorry for the Red Sox and especially Brandon Lyon (he seemed to be in on at least 6 or 7 of them). They way they have lost games this year has been really ugly.
  16. The thing is so many guys at lower levels are doing well that they can't promote them all. They will have to be patient and make some guys go one level at a time, even if they deserve to be challenged. For example, one could argue that Honel, Wing, Stumm, Francisco and Yan all deserve to be promoted to AA. An argument can be made for Wyatt Allen, Mike Spidale and Heath Phillips as well. Great Falls has several guys that are college guys (Anderson, Nanita, Gray) or advanced HS guys (McCarthy, Bounds) that could be promoted. (Im sure I missed =one or two) Kannapolis roster at this point seems pretty much set. None seem to be screaming for a promotion. All of that makes for difficulty in promoting guys.
  17. Stumm is being brought along slowly, but is doing quite well. Could he return to the rotation next year? 14 IP 14 H 2 ER 5 BB 15 K 1.50 ERA
  18. Orionny Lopez has been just dominating for Bristol... He's 3-0 in 15 2/3 IP with only six hits and 2 walks allowed, while striking out 21. Oh, and an ERA of 0.00!
