  1. QUOTE(Steff @ Jul 21, 2006 -> 09:26 AM) Hmmm.. I don't see your request here... did you need another form? I think you still have a certain "L" flag of mine still ............. heh heh
  2. YES, Anderson has earned the right to play everyday now, his Defense is what really helps this team (who doesnt think BA gets that blooper that fell in front of Mackowiak in that fateful 6th inning)
  3. QUOTE(Frankensteiner @ Jul 20, 2006 -> 10:32 PM) If we still had made no changes to last year's team, we'd probably be playing .500 ball right now. The key difference (or drop-off) between '05 and '06 is the starting pitching, and with last year's lineup, things wouldn't be looking very good. Actually, our bullpen. The one thing that Kenny wishes he could do over, was settle that bullpen. He traded away our 2 worst BP guys (Marte/Vizcaino) for good bench players, but NEVER replaced the bullpen guys. That, and the other SOX bp guys taking a step backwards has cost us more than you know. Someone brought up this point on the radio the other day, an older guy called in and made this point, its interesting to note for sure.
  4. QUOTE(JimH @ Jul 21, 2006 -> 09:10 AM) You can't assume losses to Minnesota or Oakland, just as the Tigers can't assume wins. One things for sure ............... is the SOX playoff hopes arent in their hands anymore. Now were stuck hoping other teams can help us out.
  5. we were talking about this last nite, pretty funny. Ozzie sounds like hes in a very bad mood now that his team is 5.5 games out ............ Heres hoping that hes pissed enough and puts a Foot to the SOX behinds and gets them going ............
  6. QUOTE(RME JICO @ Jul 21, 2006 -> 08:55 AM) How do you figure the Sox have to win all 10 games vs the Tigers? If they win 6, they gain 2 games, that is going 2-1 at the Cell for two series, and splitting 4 at Detroit. If they win 7, they gain 4 games, which is not out of the realm of possibility. If we win all 10 games, we have a 5 game lead. If we Win 5, but then give back 5, were at ZERO again (and they still have a 5 game lead on us). Were not counting on the games were going to lose to Oakland and Minnesota end of the year. I said it before, the TWINKS are going to determine who wins this division. Were going to have to play the Twinks BETTER than the Tigers do. Who else is going to beat the Tigers? The Twins and Yankees
  7. QUOTE(JimH @ Jul 21, 2006 -> 08:41 AM) Granted they are not in a great position at the moment, of their own doing. If the Tigers continue at this pace they'll win 109 games. And if they do, they've earned it. They haven't hit one rough patch yet though. You know, I was chatting with some people last nite, and everyone I know is up in arms now, me personally, I hit the panic button a couple weeks ago already, so Im not as up in arms as others. I have come to the realization that if the Tiggers win the division, its not a bad thing, theyve won the games they were supposed to win ......... and YES we do have to tip the cap to them. There are alot of good teams in the AL and were one of them.
  8. QUOTE(greg775 @ Jul 21, 2006 -> 12:59 AM) It's all up to Detroit cooling off. One game at a time is so boring but that's what the Sox are going to have to do from now until we catch them. At 5.5 games out, it's gonna be a while before we catch them. thats what makes me so mad about the Ozzie B lineups, and the throw away games. I can count 5 games we gave away this season.
  9. QUOTE(southsider2k5 @ Jul 21, 2006 -> 08:39 AM) I quit reading there when you decided to label a whole group of people... not everyone .............
  10. QUOTE(Jordan4life_2006 @ Jul 21, 2006 -> 12:48 AM) 5.5 games is nowhere near insurmountable, especially when we still have 10 games left with the Tigers. Fluffy Clouds will say HEY, we have 10 games left, everything is OK. But remember this. The SOX will have to WIN ALL 10 of these games. ALL OF THEM. Going 5-5 Gains them NOTHING. Do you trust the Tiger staff to lose 10 consecutive games to us? And dont forget, the lead is 5 games, and the SOX are sure to only take 2 of 3 from the Baltimores and Kansas Citys of the world, while the Tigers Sweep those same teams. So the lead will be more than 5 games shortly ............. Bottom Line............ the SOX gave too many games away early on and its coming back to haunt us now. that 7 run blown lead to KC in April, the 2 giveaway games to the Cubs ................yeesh.
  11. QUOTE(CYGarland @ Jul 20, 2006 -> 03:49 PM) don't forget Dark cloud We need a FLUFFY CLOUD ICON too ............... for the Everyday-is-a-Sunny-Day enthusiasts here and there, heh heh QUOTE(Sonik22 @ Jul 20, 2006 -> 04:04 PM) I came over from WSI because i got banned for swearing there and i realized that this site was more loose and there weren't any assholes here. GET OFF THE LEDGE! and....... GET RID OF GARCIA! I got banned for talking about the Cubs (in a cubs forum!!!!!) . So I dont feel sorry for you, heh heh
  12. QUOTE(holly wiggins @ Jul 19, 2006 -> 09:59 PM) LOL! I can't stand him ... I turn the sound off and watch the game while listening to Farmer and Singleton, until Farmer gets into his "we're all doomed" mode, and then I turn off the radio and watch without commentary. Or I when you hear Farmers dull and monotone call of a double off the wall with all the runners scoring apparently, and the SOX have just taken the lead, and your forced to listen to the CROWD to determine what just happened/who just scored. I'll take Hawk. QUOTE(soxpride77 @ Jul 20, 2006 -> 01:49 PM) Worst argument in favor of Hawk ever. No. he has a point. Hawk is most definitely an acquired taste Last nite, HAWK CALLED IT. He was very politely, but angrily saying that stupid Vazquez has to stop getting beat with his worst pitch, which was that fat and slow curve he was throwing over the plate. When the bases were loaded, Hawk said immediately "Nows the time for the slider" and DONT throw the curve. Vazquez wound up, threw the curve right over the plate and as soon as the Bat hit the ball ............. Hawk incredulously said Thats deep .................. game was over. you could hear it in their voices.
  13. It is Feast or Famine with him. Its funny, because the SOX are not built on SLUGGER/ALL OR NOTHING type guys. Were allegedly built with Grinder/ball-in-play/make contact guys who play smart. The first couple of weeks with him, he was on pace to Beat The World, the way he wasnt swinging at everything, taking his walks, going the other way. Not seen that from him since then. There is no doubt, his mere presence has helped Dye/Crede/Konerko, and his presence as a good clubhouse guy is also great, but man Jimmy, theres nothing wrong with what you were doing earlier in the year
  14. QUOTE(Jordan4life_2006 @ Jul 20, 2006 -> 04:07 PM) Atleast we can say we saw our guys take it home once. We're all very lucky and fortunate. What do you think Cubs fans would do just to see their team bring it home one f***in' time? hahahahaha, you made me laugh just now (and I needed to do so) What is really funny, is those people will NEVER see their team "bring it home". Ever. But they keep "believing", he heh
  15. QUOTE(fathom @ Jul 20, 2006 -> 03:53 PM) As one of the posters most notorious for pessimism on this site, I think this comment is 100 pct false. Theres nothing wrong with being negative. Its what has defined SOX fans for generations. To say SOX fans who dont blindly believe in our chances ARE LESS OF A SOX FAN is Unrealistic, Irresponsible, and Ridiculous. There are some who will call you a hypocrite/heathen/unbeliever or even worse a "cub" fan, but SOX fans are realistic. Its whats KEPT ME A SOX FAN as long as Ive been one. Its what makes us DIFFERENT from the imbeciles 8miles north. Its what makes us stronger as a fan base. Its what makes a Championship taste so much better once we do/did win one. We are a good team, but the problem is there are a couple of teams better than us. Theres nothing wrong with admitting that.
  16. QUOTE(CYGarland @ Jul 20, 2006 -> 03:39 PM) Zumaya looked good, REALLY good. But our 3-4-5 cant hit for $hit right now. Sure Pk had a 2 homer night on tuesday, but other than that, they've been brutal of late Well, Im not a Thome Hater, believe me, but we needed BETTER AT BATS from him. I know hes historically been a strikeout artist, but everyones made the adjustment on him, and he needs to do likewise before its too late for us.
  17. TO tell you guys the Truth, I was more DEPRESSED after last nites brutal loss. We shouldve won that game, because todays game .............Day game after nite, Ozzie B Lineup, Kenny Rogers dominant against us, Were playing very poorly were all too many Variables to overcome. We needed a Sweep for a number of reasons, among them 1. Stop the Tiger Momentum (hahaha, I said momentum) 2. Deflate Tiger Confidence 3. Get us back to 1.5 games back Instead, now were 5.5 back .............. and sliding. All we've done is Let the Yankees and Twins get more confidence now ..............
  18. QUOTE(JimH @ Jul 19, 2006 -> 03:19 PM) Exactly, as in, what on earth could he have written that can't even get approved by Sun Times editors? Must have been something really imflammatory. Again, it's all speculation but I find it interesting that it's Mariotti who seems to have a pattern of trouble with editors/program directors/bosses. Sooner or later the finger points squarely at him. Thats a good question, what could he have possibly written, that the paper deemed it necessary to Censor its own writer? Could it have been that trashy? that uncalled for? It never stopped the SunTimes before. Maybe he has something, maybe someone from the SOX did put the screws on the SunTimes and they indeed censored his articles and he decided to blow the whistle on them. Maybe it wasnt even something that ridiculous or unfounded. The SunTimes has never done this before (to my knowledge anyway) but again, making a charge like this Ruins the Credibility (whatever the SunTimes has left) of the newspaper. Thats why nobody is really talking, other than Jay. On that note, we havnt heard a peep out of Sullivan for that matter either
  19. QUOTE(bighurt574 @ Jul 19, 2006 -> 10:22 AM) How does suspending him admit censorship? If Mariotti's allegation was completely false, would a suspension not be warranted? He came out and said he had a problem with his paper, because theyve "censored" his SOX columns back in October. His paper of course is very angry that he made this charge. Have you heard anyone from the SunTimes saying otherwise? Of course not, they want that to go away very quietly, but at the same time, arent happy that he made that known. The only thing I like about all of this, is that he made the same charge to the Trib censoring their own writers, and it was very timely, as Sullivan had a behind-the-scenes beatdown administered to him by people from the other team.
  20. QUOTE(JimH @ Jul 19, 2006 -> 08:46 AM) Like being kind of pregnant I guess. If Mariotti doesn't currently have free choice to come back and start writing columns, it's a suspension. at the same time though, hes taking as much time as he wants. And the SunTimes isnt really sweating him about it either. Hes staying away, and the Times is glad hes away ....... for now. Like I said, his paper is FURIOUS about the charge he made against them, and that can hurt the papers credibility (ive called out some of their writers already) Immensely. The Trib is watching this situation veryclosely
  21. QUOTE(spiderman @ Jul 18, 2006 -> 09:04 PM) While that may be the true, picking the White Sox pitching staff wasn't one of the options....I would just hate to be down by a game or two in September and have to face Liriano and Santana back to back. Yup. The Twinks are going to affect this pennant race. Last nites game was impressive. In order to sweep, you have to win the first game, so tonite is important with Vazquez and his 5.00 era going. If we can get 6 innings out of him and be in the game, I'll take chances on their bullpen ......
  22. Good for Jonny boy, excellent excellent game last nite. His last couple of starts were very good, but going into this game, knowing the SOX needed a WIN, he stepped up big time. A game like this is going to help Jon go a long way the rest of the season, knowing he can shut a team down when he wants to.
  23. QUOTE(JimH @ Jul 18, 2006 -> 04:15 PM) So is it vacation time, sabbatical, suspension, or what? How much vacation time would a columnist have if his editor says he won't be back "for weeks and weeks and weeks"? I think Mariotti is lying again, or at the very least not telling the whole truth. What else is new. Its all of the above. Hes kind of suspended, hes kind of on vacation. The SunTimes is in a very tough spot with Mariotti. They cant "suspend" him, because it then admits Censorship, which would be the death-blow for a Newspaper. Mariotti is furious at his paper ........... so there is a detente of sorts between the two. Mariotti is taking some time to "cool off", and the paper is looking the other way regarding his vacation
  24. QUOTE(whitesoxfan101 @ Jul 19, 2006 -> 01:23 AM) The argument of best team in baseball is pointless. Like every year, we will find out in the last week of October who the best team in baseball actually is. Kind of like when people continue to say that the north side team has the best fans in baseball. HAHAHAHAHAHAHHAHA
  25. QUOTE(iamshack @ Jul 18, 2006 -> 12:30 PM) Sorry, I didn't mean to sound like a grump. You didnt sound grumpy at all. Buehrle has indeed been leaving his pitches up for batters to club all over the park. You give up 11 runs to the Cubs, you know you stunk badly
