QUOTE(Chisoxfn @ Dec 30, 2005 -> 08:32 PM) Its either a full year from the draft or something like until May 15th. The draft is in June in case people are curious. In the upcoming draft i would assume we get our first pick in the 30's since we won the WS.

QUOTE(Chisoxfn @ Dec 30, 2005 -> 08:30 PM) Ya, I forget what it is. I almost thought it was a year, but that is probably too long. O okay, thanks.

QUOTE(Rowand44 @ Dec 30, 2005 -> 08:27 PM) No. You're correct. So what is the rule on trading a player from that years draft? Do they have to be in your organzation for a year or something different.

QUOTE(JimH @ Dec 30, 2005 -> 08:26 PM) New info from mlbtraderumors.com , take it for what it's worth: Miguel Tejada Trade: Update Some more quality details on the possible Miguel Tejada trade: First issue: White Sox payroll. My source is saying that adding Tejada would not be a problem - the team's board of directors are willing to take the payroll up to $105 million. Should the Orioles accept one of their offers, they'll still have flexibility for more additions at the July trading deadline as needed. This makes you think KW could be about to pull the trigger on a blockbuster trade.

QUOTE(beck72 @ Dec 30, 2005 -> 08:21 PM) Is Alex Woodson even eligible to be traded as he was drafted in 2005? There's a rule on when you can trade a player from the draft? That's news to me.

QUOTE(SSH2005 @ Dec 30, 2005 -> 05:26 PM) I don't get why the Mets want to trade Heilman so bad. He's better than the bums they are rumored to be dealing him for, Baez being one of them. Yep, I guess the Mets are stupid like that. The Mets, stupid? Nooo you're lying.

Here is the official terms. Eric Byrnes - OF - Diamondbacks Diamondbacks signed outfielder Eric Byrnes, who had been with the Orioles, to a one-year, $2.25 million contract. The money is right, and since Byrnes will only be arbitration eligible at year's end, the Diamondbacks will be able to keep him for 2007 if they'd like. We see Byrnes as more of a fourth outfielder than a regular center fielder, but he'll probably get the job done offensively. If he bats second, he'd be worth at least $15 in NL-only leagues. Dec. 30 - 9:02 pm et

Miguel Olivo - C - Marlins Marlins signed catcher Miguel Olivo, who had been with the Padres, to a one-year contract. Olivo, who is joining his fourth team in a year and a half, will compete with Josh Willingham for the starting job behind the plate. He hasn't played well in the Dominican Republic, but he did hit .304/.341/.487 in 116 AB after joining the Padres last season. It's improved defense that the Marlins will want to see in spring training. Olivo has all of the tools, but neither the Mariners nor the Padres were impressed at all by his glovework. Dec. 30 - 6:11 pm et It's now official.

QUOTE(Leonard Zelig @ Dec 30, 2005 -> 07:16 PM) Do you mean the games in KC? Cause they were nowhere near sold out this past season. I think that person means here not in KC. my 2000th post, yay!

QUOTE(SEALgep @ Dec 30, 2005 -> 08:03 PM) Absolutely, mixed in with a good prospect and the O's will receive good value, and as you said, a solid rotation. So then in all of your opinions, do you think Baltimore would favor this trade proposal over the other ones?
-
QUOTE(Chisoxfn @ Dec 30, 2005 -> 07:59 PM) Which is why I think Bmore may like the Sox proposal. They get two guys that they can pencil in. One becomes there ace, while they can keep Bedard (so that would give them a formidable rotation) and the other comes in and plays near gold glove defense with a solid bat (whose still developing and is signed for at least 2 more years at an affordable rate). Of course it will be interesting who the prospect would be, but I do think this deal makes sense for the O's. Especially if they want to keep Bedard. A rotation of Bedard and Contreras is better than one with only Prior. I didn't look at it that way. Good post

I'll say he will start in AAA unless like Jordan4life said he has a monster spring training. If he stays in AAA, i think he would be a september call up and play the rest of the way and start in CF in 07.

Sounds.......ummm.....delicious....i guess.

QUOTE(Rowand44 @ Dec 30, 2005 -> 05:45 PM) He's employed by espn 1000 not the sox so with the switch he's a goner. To bad too, cause I really liked Bryan. To be honest, I've never even heard of this guy. Oh yeah, i forgot the sox are going to 670 next year. I haven't heard of the guy either. -
QUOTE(Felix @ Dec 30, 2005 -> 06:02 PM) If you get the update, he's in the game (as is Jenks etc.) Where would you get an update from?

QUOTE(SoxRock05 @ Dec 30, 2005 -> 05:07 PM) Thank You...Ty Berrie matches Perfect... JiYea!!! No problem, i wasn't sure if that was him though.

Wes Helms - 3B - Marlins Marlins signed first baseman-third baseman Wes Helms, who had been with the Brewers, to a one-year contract. Another decent pickup for Florida. Helms figures to be Mike Jacobs' platoonmate at first base. He can also back up Miguel Cabrera at third base and some spot duty in the outfield corners is a possibility. Helms had an 881 OPS in 83 AB against lefties last season and is at 824 for his career. He was miscast as a regular by the Brewers, but he has some value. Dec. 30 - 6:07 pm et

QUOTE(Heads22 @ Dec 30, 2005 -> 05:03 PM) He's in 05 under a different name. Look for the BA top prospect that is a tall pitcher. I think his name is Ty Berrie in that game.

QUOTE(SoxRock05 @ Dec 30, 2005 -> 05:02 PM) Does anyone know what types of pithes B-Mac throws?....I am trying to create him in MVP baseball. Fastball, changeup, and curveball is all that i know.

QUOTE(maggsmaggs @ Dec 30, 2005 -> 05:01 PM) If its worth anything, on a sportscenter update on ESPN 1000, Bruce levine was quoted as saying the Cubs and Red Sox are the front runners for landing Tejada. I heard that also. It's Bruce so no matter who it is the cubs are always in the front.

QUOTE(Damen @ Dec 30, 2005 -> 04:44 PM) i think this tejada stuff is as fun as the randy johnson stuff... Just like Chaveztalk, which was also mentioned earlier.
