He would add the hitting that our club needs. -
Don't know if anyone cares but... Shawn Estes - S - Diamondbacks The Rockies have already been in contact with the agent for free-agent left-hander Shawn Estes. Estes left to join the Diamondbacks after winning 15 games for the Rockies in 2004. Colorado would likely only be interested in him on a one-year deal and he wouldn't be blocking any youngsters worthy of a rotation spot, so if he's willing to sign for about $2 million, he could return to the team. QUOTE(Buehrle>Wood @ Oct 29, 2005 -> 11:59 AM) I'm confused. I'm already a subscriber. How do I go about getting this than? Me too, i have no idea how to get it.

QUOTE(bighurt2719 @ Oct 29, 2005 -> 11:43 AM) are you inferring that the bosox were better than anaheim this year? I think he is comparing the 03 angels to the 05 bosox. I could be wrong though, just my guess.
-
QUOTE(bighurt2719 @ Oct 29, 2005 -> 11:33 AM) why all this discussion about damn? he's a bum, bottom line. doesnt belong in a chisox world series winner jersey. and he used to juice, so i have to hold that against him. damn = damon Was it proven that he used it?

QUOTE(aboz56 @ Oct 29, 2005 -> 11:27 AM) And that makes him a bad player because he has a below average arm? .316, 10 hr and 75 RBI for a leadoff hitter seems pretty damn good to me. Not saying that he's a fit here, he's certainly not, but the guy is a perennial all-star and I loved him as a player when he was on KC and Oakland. Now that he is on Boston I don't care much for him but he is still a great player. No it doesn't make you a bad player, but he plays in one of the key positions where you pretty much need a decent arm. His offensive numbers are good, but his defense is only decent because he has some speed and he can catch up to balls and not let them drop.
-
QUOTE(aboz56 @ Oct 29, 2005 -> 11:17 AM) I don't see why everyone thinks he's a bad player, quite frankly he is a stud IMO, he just doesn't fit with this team. Someone please explain to me how Damon isn't a good player. He can't throw.

How much does it tower over Millenium Force? I know that you could see it from pretty far away, and the dragster is like 100 ft. taller too.
-
QUOTE(Chisoxfn @ Oct 29, 2005 -> 11:15 AM) Damon is a good player, but the Sox have there top of the order and while I think Damon is better than a lot of you guys give him credit to be (since everyone seems dead set against him). I think the Sox have bigger needs (ie, the middle of the lineup and #1 resigning Paulie and #2 finding a productive DH). He's not bad, but the idea that someone said to have him play RF is just insane.
-
QUOTE(Punch and Judy Garland @ Oct 29, 2005 -> 11:11 AM) HAHA! Damon in right on a team that prides itself on defense? Maybe we can have Jeff Bagwell play center and Mo Vaughn play left too Lets bring Cecil Feilder out of retirement to play center, Bagwell doesn't have enough speed.

Even though Manny isn't a free agent, he sounds like a complete a-hole. Manny Ramirez - OF - Red Sox Gene Mato, one of Manny Ramirez's representatives, told Red Sox owner John W. Henry yesterday that Ramirez wants to be traded, and will not report to spring training if his wish to be dealt is not met, a team source told the Boston Globe. It's hard to imagine Ramirez actually failing to report, but if he wants a trade, the Red Sox will definitely take a look and see what they can get for him. Of course, Manny can and likely will change his mind half a dozen times before camp opens. Oct. 29 - 3:36 am et Source: Boston Globe

Damon has got one hell of a puss-arm.

QUOTE(kman @ Oct 27, 2005 -> 05:32 PM) wow i had my first day of training at my job tommorow at 11 am and my boss called and i confirmed, now i just called back the work and told them i kuldnt make it on a voicemail, you guys think ill be fired? I would say that there is a possibility of that happening.

QUOTE(Chisoxfn @ Oct 27, 2005 -> 06:06 PM) I wouldn't think about trading Aaron. Once again, he's getting way under-valued, imo. People have too high of expectations for Anderson, at least right away, and quite frankly, Anderson won't touch Aaron defensively and thats not a knock on Anderson. Aaron Rowand = A White Sox and he's not going to be going anywhere, you can take that to the bank. I highly agree.

I like the minor leagues better than the "new" NHL.

QUOTE(DonkeyKongerko @ Oct 27, 2005 -> 06:40 PM) http://journals.aol.com/dcsportsguy/mrirre...nt/entries/2162 I wouldn't be surprised if it's Sheffield but it seems like the big guys aren't getting caught. Being from USA Today gives this some substance and there could be some big news in the next couple weeks. I hope its not one of ouor Sox. We would get so much s*** for being cheaters from the media and cub fans that i couldnt take it. -
Has anyone heard the Go Go White Sox song by Tadahito and the Iguchis. (i think thats the bands name) They do the song in a japanese accent i think. My friend from school told me about it but i haven't heard it.

Congratulations to the Houston Astros too

QUOTE(Balta1701 @ Oct 27, 2005 -> 04:32 PM) I loved how most of the Astros came back out after game 4 to give props to their fans, even while the White Sox were off tearing the place apart. Even though they were down, they still had class. Not sure I liked the way Garner behaved this series, but that's another matter for another day (when Ozzie seems like the sane one...well...) I can't say I'd complain if we ended up beating them in the world series for the next 5 or 6 years. (Hey wait, that didn't come out right...) One thing that struck me about this series...when you look at the list of Baseball payrolls for 2005...2 spots simply have to stand out: 12 Houston Astros $76,779,000 13 Chicago White Sox $75,178,000 That's a very surprising coincidence to me. -

Why is there competitive eating people and freakin poker players on this list? -
QUOTE(sox-r-us @ Oct 27, 2005 -> 03:43 PM) Ever since last night, I could not help but keep thinking of my first year watching the White Sox (1997). (I am an immigrant to this country so I was not born here. I used to come home from school but always want to watch the Sox and not the Cubs (it was when we had the young team with Durham, Foulke, Howry, Baldwin etc)).....Frank Thomas made me a Sox fan. We had Albert Belle then too.... Then I could not help but remember going to the Sox games and shouting Cleveland Sucks every time the powerful Tribe was in town....they had a great team then and it bugged me to no end. Though I was happy to see them lose the WS to the Fish And then I could not help but remember when I was there in person when the Sox beat the Tribe & the Spankees for the magical 14 game win streak against the Tribe and Spankees in the magical 2000 season.... And then I could not help but remember the Sox losing in 2000 to the focking Mariners.....my bro is a M fan so I got some ribbing from him Then I could not help but remember going to the Cubs-Sox game when Boomer Wells was pitching and Carlos Lee hit the extra innings grand slam to win it for us. We were shouting C LEE in the EL all evening on the ride back home.... And then I could not help but remember the pain of not being able to duplicate the 2000 season despite trying out Wells, Richie, Colon etc with injuries striking this team at key times all along (Frank, Wells, Maggs, Frank etc) And then I could not help but remember telling my wife one Sunday after the Bears lost that will I ever see any of my teams (Bulls, Bears, Sox, Blackhawks) win a championship ever ..... was very depressed and wanted to give up watching sports all along since I could never root for anyone else (Bulls won their last championship before I got to Chicago) ..... and just wondering why a great city like Chicago cannot have winners And now when it has all been accomplished, I cannot stop smiling and remembering how sweet this s*** is today. I am still letting it all sink in. We can actually tell Spankee fans 2000 now.... I'm just glad that i have got the gift of experienceing a World Series Championship for the White Sox at least once in my lifetime.
