QUOTE(Jenks Heat @ Dec 2, 2005 -> 12:12 PM) And they will next year as well as this year. NY and Boston trade their youth and therefore overpay veterans. Look at Matt Clement and he was an NL pitcher. Jon Garland is a horse. Mike Hampton is what 5'10" if he is lucky. Bown got his huge contract at 36, Garland will be 27. Think about that for a second. The guy has never missed a start and will be 27 after next season. Guiys that are 30-32 are getting huge money. 12 win a year pitchers make huge money. Most guys improve when reach their prime which Garland hasn't. Especially if they are not injury prone. carrie woods gets $10M a year at 30 and he has never won more than 13 games. Teams will overpay for the hope of good pitching. s*** Lieber and Carpenter got nice contracts and they had to sit out a year. Wood has never won more than 14 games.

QUOTE(EvilJester99 @ Dec 2, 2005 -> 10:31 AM) Here is something I found interesting on Ben Maller...One local report Thursday indicated the ChiSox might be willing to trade second baseman Tadahito Iguchi to the Marlins in exchange for Marlins counterpart Luis Castillo. Posted December 2, by Ben Maller We don't have to worry about that happening anymore since castillo is a Twin now.

I'd imagine that the bat would make the "ping" noise since it is a metal. I just find that sound annoying.

Matt Morris - S - Cardinals Free agent Matt Morris indicated that he's like to stay in the National League, though it won't be a deal breaker. With Mike Matheny in place, San Francisco appears to be one of his preferred destinations. "It's definitely a possibility," he said. "That would be great to go there and not have to worry about getting adjusted to a new catcher." Morris said the Dodgers, Mariners, Rangers and Red Sox have also displayed interest in him. Joey Gathright - OF - Devil Rays The Marlins and Dodgers have been most aggressive in their pursuit of Joey Gathright, says the St. Petersburg Times. The Yankees, White Sox, Cubs, Angels, Giants and Padres have also asked about him. Gathright seems nearly certain to be traded. He's not going to be a regular in Tampa Bay, and there might never again be a market for him like there is right now. Dec. 1 - 2:11 am et Source: St. Petersburg Times

Kyle Farnsworth - R - Braves The Yankees could have a deal finalized with Kyle Farnsworth as soon as Thursday, Newsday reports. $17 million over three years remains the popular figure. The Yankees are also negotiating with Tom Gordon, but, according to Newsday, team officials yesterday were resigned to the fact that Farnsworth's contract will only help Gordon's market value, most likely eliminating them from contention.
