  1. QUOTE (SHIPPS @ Jul 12, 2009 -> 12:06 AM) I would leave my bestes friend in the whole wide world for a bigger paycheck and so would 99% of all professional athletes. Pay is irrelevant . He is a max contract player no matter where he goes.
  2. Halladay for Lexi,Floyd and Flowers? Hell No.

  4. Things like this make me wish the worst kinds of torture for the killers. f*** Prison, f*** the death penalty, slice their entire bodies all over and let them soak in a tub of lime juice for a week.
  5. QUOTE (Steve9347 @ Jul 10, 2009 -> 10:22 AM) Eh, more like Boozer is a prick who's word means nothing. ^^^^^
  6. QUOTE (SHIPPS @ Jul 10, 2009 -> 08:36 AM) The trade being discussed has Boozer to Bulls Hinrich to Portland and Tyrus to the Jazz . http://sports.espn.go.com/nba/news/story?id=4317515 yahoo and sam smith say rumors are false. So who knows.

QUOTE (Kenny_Powers @ Jul 10, 2009 -> 05:23 AM) i apologize as well.. touchy subject for me because i get this discussion a lot about people who no doubtedly signed up for the free health care and massive amounts of bonus money as well as the ever steady pay check. No problem at all. I understand.

QUOTE (Kenny_Powers @ Jul 10, 2009 -> 05:03 AM) eh, maybe because some of us know people that were in the WTC when it was destroyed and felt the need to go out and do something to help instead of sitting on a chair waving a mini american flag and pretending to love their country for a few months until the "craze" was over. Sorry for the confusion. My post was not directed towards the military, I was talking about people taking on jobs/careers in general that they do not exactly love, but do it for the benefits.

I never understood why people do not mind being slaves as long as they get benefits. My advice for you is do something you love and find a way to get paid well for it. Until that is accomplished, make that your # 1 priority in life.

QUOTE (caulfield12 @ Jul 10, 2009 -> 04:32 AM) Well...anything between 80-85% in save conversion is "pretty good" in my book, irregardless of ERA, and 85% and above is optimal. Below 75% isn't tolerable. 2005 Shingo 8/9 was not "optimal".
  11. Probably once a week.

QUOTE (caulfield12 @ Jul 10, 2009 -> 04:14 AM) Rocky Biddle (surprised he became closer for the Expos and was sort of decent one year) his ERA was 4.65 and he was 34/41 in save opportunities. I would call that below average.
  13. rangercal replied to WSoxMatt's topic in Pale Hose Talk
5th starter= Colon until he loses it. IMO, his ERA would have to be over 4.50 to lose it. I would be fine with it. Poreda is pretty nice coming out the Pen, for now. What ever happens, it is nice to know that we don't have to plug in the 5th spot with Arnie Munoz or Felix Diaz.
  14. QUOTE (ZoomSlowik @ Jul 10, 2009 -> 12:40 AM) I would say his scoring goes down, his rebounding is legitimately good. No way he'd be getting 12 shots and that high number of easy looks in a normal system. He averaged about 11 and 9.5 over the two years pre-D'Antoni ball, that seems like a safe guess for his true value. If Noah plays 30 MPG, Lee probably gets you one more bucket inside per game with less help defense. The scoring going down is obvious, but so would his rebounds. Slower pace= less shot attempts for both teams= less rebound opportunities. But yeah 11 /9.5 seems spot on. I agree with you. 16/12 is very inflated.
  15. They want a new batting practice pitcher.
  16. QUOTE (ZoomSlowik @ Jul 10, 2009 -> 12:11 AM) Exactly, take Lee out of D'Antoni's system and you've basically got a slightly better Joakim Noah. Plus he's not a particularly good defender and will be making 3 times as much as Noah in about a year. Exactly what I was thinking. Take him out of that high paced gimmick offensive system and his rebounding totals will go way down.
  17. QUOTE (knightni @ Jul 9, 2009 -> 10:08 PM) Dreams of Lebron, Bosh and Wade will probably go unfulfilled for Chicago in '10. Besides, I'd rather have Lee than Bosh anyway. He'd be cheaper and he gets the same amount of boards.
  18. BTW I'd really love this deal to go through Noah Boozer Deng Salmons Rose Bench Miller Johnson Gibson Tim Thomas Pargo That is a pretty good roster and would have to have major injuries or performing well below their expected projections ( which has happened a lot the last few years ) regardless, I can't get my hopes up. Too many heartbreaks involving trades that ended up getting my hopes up and wasting my time... Kobe,Amare etc and Peavy to the Sox. I'll believe it when it's official.
  19. QUOTE (SoxFan1 @ Jul 9, 2009 -> 06:39 PM) Wow, Tyrus Thomas' facebook status as of 28 minutes ago: I wonder if he knows something we don't.
  20. QUOTE (SoxFan1 @ Jul 8, 2009 -> 04:15 PM) Mainly because everything Darko does isn't based on athleticism, he actually has some skills. And Darko also has legitimate size, Tyrus does not. But this is not an argument about Darko vs Tyrus. Look at what Darko did in Orlando in the playoffs a couple years ago. Got nearly 30 minutes a game, average 12, 4.5 and 1 while shooting nearly 60% from the field and averaging only .50 turnovers a game. How does Tyrus not have any skills when he puts up decent numbers given the minutes? Do you mean mid to outside shooting skills? I will acknowledge that Tyrus does some things poorly, but that does not mean he is without any skills. With your line of thinking... anyone under the sun who is "athletic" can lace them up and block 2 shots a game, shoot 45% from the field and nearly 80 % from the line. Obviously that does not take skill.
  21. Too many sensitive people in here. Facts are facts. We are towards the top half in payroll and bottom half in attendance.
  22. Give me the 5 bucks Give a World Series pre 2005 Give me the 100 K post 2005
  23. Can he be the designated fielder?
  24. QUOTE (SoxFan1 @ Jul 7, 2009 -> 08:00 PM) He was 18 when he was drafted, just like a guy coming out of high school. He's still got time, he's shown glimpses. If he got over 30 minutes a game consistently, he could easily average 15 and 10 with 3 blocks. Hell, he put up 18/15/3 on Pau in the 2006 FIBA World Championships. He averaged 16.2, 9.3, and 2.8 in that tournament. Funny this is your argument when you bash anyone using this argument for Tyrus. They are good points though... but just a little ironic coming from you of all people.
