  1. QUOTE(YASNY @ May 5, 2005 -> 11:56 PM) Yes. That's exactly what I think. Unless we want to rape the whole system. I will have to respectfully disagree with you. A crede/top prospects package should be enough to get a star on a small market, re-building team.
  2. QUOTE(hammerhead johnson @ May 5, 2005 -> 11:46 PM) I've been hearing that a lot, but the NFL (as opposed to the three other major sports) is crazy in that it takes guys until like mid-season to gel. There are various reasons, most notably the fact that there is only one game per week, but also the insane amount of roster turnover from year to year. The Vikings got a s***load of new guys, especially on defense. There are a ton of question marks. You have to kinda wait and see. I'm not ready to call them a lock for division winner, and I ain't a Bears homer either. I'll give credit where it's due. I agree with you, This bear d for the most part knows each other and is a year older. Im definatley stoked about the D. What is said about the Vikes D and gelling can be said about our O though.
  3. QUOTE(YASNY @ May 5, 2005 -> 11:48 PM) Billy Beane does not give long term contracts unless the player is one that he wants to keep. He let Giambi walk. He let Tejada walk. Why would he sign Chavez just to trade him away. This is illogical. No, its not. At the right price he can be had. Do you really think we don't have enough to offer?
  4. QUOTE(qwerty @ May 5, 2005 -> 11:46 PM) They will be playoff contenders at the very most two years. They are stacked even though some people don't want to believe it. I bet hawk may think other wise Really though, crede would not be a bad replacement, he would be cheap and youg. It would open up their payroll for other future options, They could use Bmacc right now actually , Im sure we would add someone else to the deal.
  5. QUOTE(Jordan4life_2004 @ May 5, 2005 -> 11:38 PM) What the hell happened to Aaron Rowand? Yeah , what did happen to rowand?
  6. QUOTE(qwerty @ May 5, 2005 -> 11:41 PM) Difference is they were in the last year of their contracts and the a's wanted something for them in return. Chavez has five years left remaining on his contract. Unless they get blown the f*** away it is not gonna happen. point taken, the a's are a small market team though, so if they had a chance to load up with even more young guys they may just do it... his contract may be 5 years, but they may not have a contending team for 5 years. I say when you re-build go all out.
  7. QUOTE(Jordan4life_2004 @ May 5, 2005 -> 11:41 PM) Givin up on Crede already? not really. I was just thinking what upgrade would help us the most.
  8. QUOTE(qwerty @ May 5, 2005 -> 11:38 PM) Griffey? Horrible thought, (vinny castilla). Chavez? Not going anywhere anytime soon. I thought the same with mulder and hudson. he can be had.
  9. QUOTE(sox-r-us @ May 5, 2005 -> 11:35 PM) That is very intriguing too.... (waiting for someone to rain on our trade idea parades)
  10. that prospect would have to be someone like bmacc of course....
  11. I would like to deal crede/prospect for eric chavez at the as break. oakland dealt away half their team as it is. half his salary would be off the books if it's done in july. I did hear we have a few million to spend if need be.
  12. QUOTE(sox-r-us @ May 5, 2005 -> 11:28 PM) I am intrugued by the thought of maybe adding Ken Griffey Jr at the deadline if he starts playing like his old self. A LH bat with power and fielding ability like his can be huge in the playoffs. who will be paying this ken griffey jr you speak of? like the idea though.
  13. QUOTE(hammerhead johnson @ May 5, 2005 -> 10:18 PM) I know, it sounds too good to be true. It probably is. We're gonna need to bring in another LB, though. Derrick has a great relationship with both Lovie and Angelo, and the Bucs wanna get rid of him, so the speculation makes sense. Thank God they are not in our division any longer, other wise they would probably block any posibility of us trying to get him.
  14. QUOTE(Heads22 @ May 5, 2005 -> 10:14 PM) Sox and the Stros and Dodgers in MLB I hope its in that order
  15. QUOTE(hammerhead johnson @ May 5, 2005 -> 10:08 PM) We have what it takes to be a Top 5 defensive team in the NFL. You don't have to be a Bears fan to know that. We're freaking stacked on D, and we have the running game to keep dudes well-rested. We're gonna put some heads to bed this year. I'm not in NFL mode as of yet, but aren't we looking to acquire an LB this summer? I've read a few things here and there, but I'm probably one of the least qualified people on here to discuss rumors and what not. I've heard some thangs about Derrick Brooks? Regardless, the defense as is: DE: Alex Brown, Michael Haynes DT: Tommie Harris DT: Tank Johnson, Alfonso Boone DE: Adewale Ogunleye LB: Lance Briggs MLB: Brian Urlacher LB: CB: Charles Tillman FS: Mike Brown SS: Mike Green, Bobby Gray CB: Jerry Azumah, Nathan Vasher I can't f***ing wait. :salivating derrick brooks?! you must be kidding? DE: Alex Brown, Michael Haynes DT: Tommie Harris DT: Tank Johnson, Alfonso Boone ( This spot is below avg ) DE: Adewale Ogunleye LB: Lance Briggs MLB: Brian Urlacher LB: (insert derrick brooks here) CB: Charles Tillman ( Will come back from avg year last year, will be solid) FS: Mike Brown( hope he recovers, biggest heart on the team) SS: Mike Green, Bobby Gray CB: Jerry Azumah, Nathan Vasher
  16. QUOTE(Punch and Judy Garland @ May 5, 2005 -> 07:58 PM) Gary can rake. No doubt about it. he can rub too..... rub on some of that cream and the clear.
  17. QUOTE(Heads22 @ May 5, 2005 -> 09:57 PM) I don't know if you can count on the Bears being good this year. I'm an Indy fan and I remember them just destroying the Bears. Even if the Bears improve as much as you guys think they're no threat come playoff time. It must be great living in Iowa. you can pick and choose which midwest teams you like. Hmmm colts, sox,
  18. QUOTE(ChiSoxyGirl @ May 5, 2005 -> 08:25 PM) Okay, I guess the only thing I remember from that season is the crash and burn ending. But my point is the same--the last two seasons the Sox have lost the division as much as the Twins have won it. I know :banghead IMO though, 03 was a choke job. 04 we would have won with frank and maggs playing all year.
  19. QUOTE(ChiSoxyGirl @ May 5, 2005 -> 07:27 PM) I am guardedly optimistic. But, as my Twins friend always points out: the Sox have come out of the gate strongly the past two years--but haven't been able to finish the deal. I hope they go deep into the playoffs, but I'll take it one game at a time.... They did not come out strong in 03, they had a good july and august in 03.
  20. QUOTE(witesoxfan @ May 5, 2005 -> 07:39 PM) Bracelets = aweshum idea I still need one though They are still selling them, right? I have an extra. I can mail u one.
  21. QUOTE(AddisonStSox @ May 5, 2005 -> 06:22 PM) Guys: Honestly, Pablo Ozuna or Tony G!? Gimme Tony anyday over Pablo and twice on Sundays. I'd welcome him back with open arms. Pablo. no doubt. tony cant steal.
  22. QUOTE(Yoda @ May 5, 2005 -> 06:19 PM) Go Carlos Lee!
  23. QUOTE(hammerhead johnson @ May 5, 2005 -> 02:07 PM) Yes indeed, 2nd straight win for Turnbow against the Cubs. Seriously, this guy is turning into a fantasy monster. He now has 3 wins and 4 saves since he became the closer on April 24. Yes, not even two weeks ago. we got a super sleeper with him , blew the save but picked up the win. Best of all it is against the cubs!
  24. QUOTE(hammerhead johnson @ Apr 24, 2005 -> 08:08 PM) But for the time being, it's a nice luxury to have four closers. My closers in a 12 team league. Krod Rivera Gagne(get Healthy) Hermy (4 saves hope he is permanent Turnbow Urbina (dont know if I should drop him) I tried out macdougal from kc, big mistake. I tried fassero from SF after benitez went down, and just missed brandon lyon off free agency.
