  1. QUOTE (Chisoxfn @ Apr 8, 2009 -> 04:40 PM) Pace is now lobbying for the Bears to get Holt. The Bears offer the best QB out of the teams competing for Holt and the most familiarity. He'll be a Bear, book it. If this happens, I will never make fun of sticker lettered jerseys every again.
  2. QUOTE (whitesoxbrian @ Apr 7, 2009 -> 10:28 PM) How can that be the real Grossman when the numbers are white with blue trim on the real authentic orange jerseys, and your's has blue numbers with white trim? Also, if you look at your numbers on the Olsen, the numbers are shiny. They aren't like that on the real jersey. Look, you can all get what you want. But if you're going to spend 70-100 on a jersey, get the official replica or the premier style. right ok. You are suggesting stickers for numbers. What am I? nine?
  3. QUOTE (knightni @ Apr 7, 2009 -> 09:39 PM) I was commenting on Steve9347 and his bad fantasy picks. He had Dukes starting for Washington this year. He would not stop trying to Pawn Dunn on to me.
  4. QUOTE (knightni @ Apr 7, 2009 -> 09:35 PM) ...and the fact that he's stuck with a Grossman jersey. I totally looked past that. I bet the Olsen would sell for more than the Authentic Grossman.
  5. QUOTE (southsider2k5 @ Apr 7, 2009 -> 09:24 PM) EAT s*** FARNSWORTH!!!! Sorry, I love tradition.
  6. Walt Frazier's pick for Rookie of The Year is OJ Mayo His reason is because mayo is a better shooter than Rose. Maybe so, but I will still take Rose's 47.1 fg % over Mayo's 43.4 fg% (even though I know this is due to better shot selection and drives to the hoop rather than high volume 3pt shots Mayo takes)
  7. So I get the NY feed for tonights Bulls-Knicks game and apparently Larry Hughes is making a big fuss about Pax not sending him a courtesy call and only a text(when he was traded to NY). The Knicks pregame team were siding with Hughes to the point where they were questioning the Bulls Organization as a whole. This post is brought to you by: http://heylarryhughespleasestoptakingsomanybadshots.com/
  8. QUOTE (DrunkBomber @ Apr 7, 2009 -> 09:13 PM) heres a pic of the Olsen next to my real authentic Grossman. Whats so different about the numbersbesides the colors obviously?, The 2 $100 Bills under the Olsen
  9. QUOTE (WCSox @ Apr 7, 2009 -> 03:19 PM) When I chimed in with Matt Walsh (who no one gives a f*** about) it was the start for one really poor thread. Fixed jk I'm done man. If you really care that much about Walsh, start a new thread and I might chime in. If not, I'm dropping it now, because this thread is about Frank Thomas.
  10. QUOTE (Chisoxfn @ Apr 7, 2009 -> 12:15 PM) There should be a basketball hall of fame. Its not the MLB Hall of Fame, its baseballs hall of fame. You have negro league players who never played a MLB game in there lives enshrined in there and honored in there. Yeah, except we don't have a WMLB, there is no reason why MJ should share the same stage with Cynthia Cooper. The NBA and WNBA are two different products just like womens softball and MLB would be.
  11. QUOTE (kyyle23 @ Apr 7, 2009 -> 01:39 PM) I want Frank to bat 3rd and play first /patiently waits for rangercal to ask if I read the thread
  12. QUOTE (WCSox @ Apr 7, 2009 -> 01:43 PM) Yeah, and that would explain why a #35 jersey currently hangs in my closet. Good one. You're obviously a Frank fanboy who is massively biased in dismissing the accomplishments of a HOF pitcher who is the all-time career leader in ERA (1.82) and has a career 1.00 WHIP. Walsh's 13 years with the Sox included a 40-win season, two 27-win seasons, three 300+ inning seasons, and two 400+ inning seasons. Walsh was clearly one of the greatest pitchers to ever play the game and your dismissal of him as a "dead ball era" pitcher is nothing short of weak. I'm not advocating Walsh as the greatest Sox player ever, but using him as an example of the folly of comparing completely different players from completely different eras. Why don't you start a new thread and quit hijacking my thread? Dead Ball era pitchers should be closely looked at, but it was the dead ball era so they never get the same recognition for winning 40 games like today's pitchers would. You have a better point with Collins, but that is not what this thread is about. Nice to see you post numbers for a change though. That's the 1st post from you I took somewhat seriously.
  13. QUOTE (WCSox @ Apr 7, 2009 -> 10:13 AM) I'm talking about THIS... Please explain how Frank was a "greater player" than Ed Walsh, and provide your basis for comparison. The last time I checked, pitchers are players as well. My point is that, unless your team was lucky enough to have Babe Ruth or Willie Mays or your franchise is only a decade old, it's almost impossible to determine a franchise's "greatest player" of all time. Was Stan Musial really a better player than Bob Gibson? Comparing players who put on a Sox uni 80 years apart is almost inherently a case of "apples and oranges," and comparing position players to pitchers muddles the situation even further. So you are going to compare a Dead ball era pitcher to our franchise leader in just about every offensive category, a guy who was clean during a tainted era? You obviously have some hatred for Frank Thomas. Get over it.
  14. QUOTE (WCSox @ Apr 7, 2009 -> 12:16 AM) I realize that this may come as a shocker to you, but pitchers are players as well. Care to explain how you're going to compare Frank to Ed Walsh? What are you talking about?
  15. QUOTE (DrunkBomber @ Apr 6, 2009 -> 11:29 PM) I posted picks of an Olsen jersey that I bought for $70 bucks. Ive taken it to places that sell authentic ones and it is exactly the same. Ive seen bad ones, but there are some that are good. They very likely could have been made the same place Reebok has them made and just sold illegally instead of turning them over to Reebok. Like I said Your Jersey and $250 in beer money > Authentic
  16. QUOTE (WCSox @ Apr 6, 2009 -> 10:16 PM) No, I'm reading it correctly. It's your analysis that's flawed. Having the best numbers in franchise history and being the greatest player in franchise history are not the same thing. No. You are STILL not reading it correctly. You still have not acknowledged point #1 and have not come to the realization that I did not bring up Collins. Actually, I can see where you would say not to compare eras IF Collins posted the majority of his SOX numbers during the deadball era, but the majority of his Sox years were AFTER the dead ball era. during the Dead Ball Era with the sox Collins posted batting averages of 1915 .332 1916 .308 1917 .289 1918 .276 1919 .319 The year's with the Sox after the dead ball era? 1920 .372 1921 .337 1922 .324 1923 .360 1924 .349 1925 .346 1926 .344 Good averages if you don't care much for extra base hits. As long as Ruth,Aaron and Griffey are compared, I think it would be ok to Compare Collins/Thomas. Start posting facts. You are the one with a FLAWED analysis. You provide strong opinions with no substance.
  17. QUOTE (Melissa1334 @ Apr 6, 2009 -> 09:23 PM) i agree. sox ,twins 1-2. royals are last i think. I will have to agree, until proven otherwise.
  18. QUOTE (Paint it Black @ Apr 6, 2009 -> 08:47 PM) Order for me goes White Sox, Tigers, Indians, Royals, Twins. But I would argue that quality starts are only part of the equation. Obviously defense is huge, and currently is where the White Sox have the biggest weakness. How do you have the Twins ranked last? I hate the twins as much as the next guy, but I think their starting pitching is pretty damn decent.
  19. QUOTE (whitesoxbrian @ Apr 6, 2009 -> 08:56 PM) As someone who used to work at a sports store, I can tell. Now, the jerseys are sewed differently. It's like the orange overlaps the white in a way. It's hard to explain. I could not tell. and.... I knew a guy, who knew a guy, who worked at Dicks Sporting Goods. Different vendors have different knockoffs. I'm sure there are some out there that are so bad that the names are misspelled. On the contrary, there are some with very minimal differences. I would advise looking at the vendors feedback before anything. and some people may think this is wrong to do (I'm not saying it is right), but to me, it is no different than downloading free music or movies etc. It's not something I've done, but I am debating on dropping $50-75 on ebay for a Cutler.
  20. QUOTE (whitesoxbrian @ Apr 6, 2009 -> 06:38 PM) Those knockoff jerseys are hideous. You're better off buying the official replica for the same price or the premier for $100 which is like the "swingman" NBA jerseys. It depends where you buy it from. There are vendors on ebay where you can not tell the difference at all. I currently do not own a knock off, but an actual authentic Urlacher. My cousin owns a knockoff Forte and I was pretty pissed off that you could not tell the difference.
  21. QUOTE (WCSox @ Apr 6, 2009 -> 11:37 AM) Frank would probably never make it out of Charlotte. QUOTE (WCSox @ Apr 6, 2009 -> 06:45 PM) Why are you comparing stats from a player who played in the early 1900s to those from a guy who played 60 years later? Why aren't you reading the thread correctly? 1. Read the 1st post word for word. 2. I was not the one to bring up Collins in the 1st place.
  22. QUOTE (Athomeboy_2000 @ Apr 6, 2009 -> 05:19 PM) he's marginal at best. the HOF has really lowered the bar on who they let in. yes. I agree. When will they realize that it is not called the "Hall of Very Good" ?
