Rumors: Sox/Reds Talking Dye for Bailey Swap
rangercal replied to Dick Allen's topic in Pale Hose Talk
QUOTE (knightni @ Dec 8, 2008 -> 05:10 AM) I'll miss Dye. He signed with the Sox for less than market value. He honored a verbal agreement with KW to sign even after Texas offered more money than the Sox. He drove in the winning run in Game 4 (was MVP) of the '05 Series, gave his body up in RF all the time, and WAS a clutch hitter, no matter what anyone says. PS he lead the team in BA last season and averaged over 30 HRs every year that he's been with the Sox. I wish that Thome could go and he would stay. I could not have said it better. -
QUOTE (knightni @ Dec 8, 2008 -> 04:46 AM) Um...what? I swear in one of our past leagues you tried to trade Laird for Vmart.

QUOTE (Jordan4life @ Dec 8, 2008 -> 02:57 AM) No offense, but what the hell could you possibly know as fact? You're a Sox fan posting on a message board. What do you know that Kenny and his people don't? You should look at my work on my 360 . I was able to do a string 20-30 trades for 5 hours straight. After everything was set and done, our rotation was Halladay,Santana,Lincecum,Webb and Peavy. I'm tired of Kenny going for these Dye for Bailey Deals! This is so frustrating! I can show him exactly how I traded Konerko and Uribe for Ervin Santana,Chone Figgins and Brandon Wood! -
and in fantasy news... Knightni, please stop trying to trade Gerald Laird to me! You can not have Victor Martinez for Gerlad Laird!

QUOTE (whitesoxfan101 @ Dec 8, 2008 -> 02:34 AM) I mean really, that's as misinformed a post (at least the Tomlin part) as I've ever seen on the NFL on this board. LeBeau was there for Cowher's first 5 years (all playoff years) in Pittsburgh, and they missed the playoffs 3 of the next 4 years after he left. Does that mean Cowher couldn't coach his first 9 years in the Steel City and LeBeau did all the work? I agree. I was just looking for a doctor, because you burned him with that post pretty bad. -

QUOTE (witesoxfan @ Dec 8, 2008 -> 01:23 AM) FWIW Ranger, I have absolutely no problem with your rankings. I'd disagree with a few things as I think the Eagles are too inconsistent to be a top 10 team though they do have the talent, but overall they look pretty good. Even at 12-1, I'm having trouble believing in the Titans. oh, and 6 points in the last 8 quarters for Buffalo after a game in which they scored 54 f***ing points. Yeah, pack it in boys. The Eagles are inconsistent, you are right about that. But, Westbrook has been unreal the last 2 weeks. The eagles with Westbrook playing at a high level are a top 10 team, imo. Without Westbrook being a major factor, they might not be a top 20 team. -

QUOTE (knightni @ Dec 8, 2008 -> 12:54 AM) You can use my couch after you make that bet, if you want. QUOTE (Thunderbolt @ Dec 8, 2008 -> 12:59 AM) What exactly has changed since the beginning of the season? Yeah, Manning's progressed, but they still have faults and are beating the crap out of bad teams. Meanwhile, the Titans laid an absolute egg up in New York, but have been steady the rest of the year. Plus, they play into the Colts Weaknesses. Also, I realize that saying, "you do realize" in that tone was slightly condescending", my bad and no harm meant. Think what you want. It's my opinion. Remember in the NFL "Any Given Sunday". The last few weeks we have seen the Broncos lose to the Raiders Titans lose to the Jets Jets Lose to the Broncos There are so many variables in the NFL , differentiation of schedules, injuries, the right game plan. My rankings are what I see at face value. -

You do realize that the KEY WORDS in my post are "right now"? If the colts play the titans Right Now on a neutral field and I had the bet my house, I pick the colts. -

I agree, Texas Tech got screwed. But, the only teams I can see that might not deserve to be in their BCS spots would be Ohio State (2 losses) or Utah (Mountain West Team) . They are not horrible selections though. -

QUOTE (Buehrle>Wood @ Dec 4, 2008 -> 02:49 AM) Under 100 Mill would be a pretty big cut. Ok, well 30 million has been cut so far. Obviously you think the roster shedding is over and/or a big signing is on the way.
-
I really hope that all this savings is going towards a big splash (trade, major fa signing or multiple smaller signings. ) .Right now, I am not sure what to think. The 2000 payroll (31 mil) seems like a long time ago, but so does 2008 payroll after all these salary dumps. What should we expect this year?

QUOTE (NorthSideSox72 @ Dec 1, 2008 -> 06:10 PM) As I posted in the other thread... • Harold Baines • Bert Blyleven • Andre Dawson • Rickey Henderson • Tommy John • Jack Morris • Dale Murphy • Tim Raines • Jim Rice Would be my votes. I see you didn't include Baines or Morris or Murphy in your finalists list - they should be there. Let's just change the name to the "Hall of Very Good" .
