Agreed, The Sox need to put him on the shelf for the rest of the year, and not let him even look at a baseball until Spring Training. He needs to recharge that arm, I think a long rest period might be the way to do it.

Yeah i have. Not every one of them is suicidal, but a vast majority are. Goths are just a group of freaks who have given up on anything good in this life. In most cases, that causes suicidal thoughts. **sigh** Besides stating the obvious, I don't have the energy to respond to this. If anyone else would care to enlighten our Hollywood Upstairs Psychiatric School graduate, that would just be great.

I'm sorry, but that statement was ignorant. Don't know where you're from, or where you've been, but I "guarantee" that you ain't seen enough of jack s*** to make "guarantees" like that.

Why do ppl want to be gothic?**FOR THE SAME REASONS ANYBODY WANTS TO BE A PART OF ANY GROUP--SENSE OF BELONGING, PEOPLE WITH THE SAME INTERESTS, BONDING WITH OTHERS WHO HAVE HAD SIMILAR EXPERIENCES, ETC... What does being a goth mean?**GENERALLY, YOU WEAR LOTS OF BLACK CLOTHING, LISTEN TO "GOTH" BANDS, I.E., BAUHAUS, NICK CAVE AND THE BAD SEEDS, ET AL. What does it take to be a goth?**THE WILLINGNESS TO BE A PART OF THAT SCENE How do you know if a gothic chick is hot if your a goth?**I DON'T QUITE UNDERSTAND THIS QUESTION Do goth's really hate jesus?**NO MORE OR LESS THAN ANYONE ELSE. I DON'T HAVE MUCH USE FOR JESUS, AND I LOOK AS OPPOSITE OF GOTH AS MIGHT BE POSSIBLE. Why do goths want to kill themselves?**THEY DON'T. DON'T PAINT WITH SUCH A BROAD BRUSH. What kinds of reasons do they have?**SAME REASONS ANY KIDS HAVE--ISOLATION, LONLINESS, HELPLESSNESS. GOTHS AREN'T THE ONLY PEOPLE THAT HAVE THESE ISSUES, THEY JUST MIGHT BE A LITTLE MORE DRAMATIC IN EXPRESSING IT.

Where's the love? -
I agree with that. True story: In my honors World History class sophomore year, the teacher gave everyone in the class an 'A'. He explained that everyone in class except two people actually earned an 'A'(Primarily because his tests were the sample tests taken from the end of each chapter of our textbook.) He then explained that he gave the other two people an 'A' because one kid came to all his football games(The teacher was the soph football coach too) and the other kid got an 'A' because the teacher knew the kid's dad, and therefore didn't want to piss him off. Gotta love Chicago Catholic high schools.

I think it's obvious that "John Roche" is just an alias for "Phil Jackson."

OK take a look at this article: http://sports.espn.go.com/mlb/columns/stor...yson&id=1600663 It says that Colon and Loaiza were blocked off waivers. Does this mean the Sox actually put them on waivers, then pulled them back because soomeone claimed them? Or does this mean the Sox somehow prevented these two from being placed on waivers? Anyone got the answer? Thanks.

First off, wsc, don't worry so much about forming a group, unless you're one of those David Koresh types. Nothing makes a person look goofier than when he/she is trying too hard to fit in. Just be yourself, and other like-minded souls will find you, and vice-versa. Do SOMETHING extra-curricular. Whether it's a club, sport, student gov't, whatever. If it's something that interests you, go for it, and don't take crap from anyone if your thing happens to be the chess club, model airplane club, needlepoint group, whatever. OK girls. Unless you're the star football player, artsy-musician guy, or someone who somehow manages to avoid all the acne, braces, and lack of confidence that usually accompanies adolescence, you ain't getting laid anytime soon, and that's OK. Get a Penthouse and a bottle of Jergens, and relax, the babes will come eventually, unless it's junior year and you still aren't using deodorant and pick your nose in public. Embrace the awkwardness and nerves, it's completely normal. Just try to not worry about what anybody else thinks. I know, this is one of the hardest things for a high school kid to do. But, if you stick to trusting yourself and follow your own desires and instincts, you'll never regret it, regardless of the fact that your love of ham radio gets you a wedgie every thursday. Well I'm doing football and am playing Wide Receiver and Linebacker. They may move me on offense. As for friends, I'm trying to hard, but I guess I could be myself, but I need comebacks. I need come backs because ppl insult me a lot, and I just beat the crap outta them. Not everyone is born with a rapier-like wit. And lots of high school guys use insults as a way of "male-bonding." Maybe you're taking these insults too seriously? How about an example? Maybe I could drum up a few zingers for ya.

I HATED that damned commerical I work in advertising and I have to say the White Sox commercials are awful. I never realized that so many fans were critical of the way the team markets itself both on this site and at WSI. The reason they are awful is because they are transparent. The best advertising gets the message across about the product in a indirect way (usually, but not always through humor and being entertaining). The Sox ads are blatenly direct and unfunny. "White Sox Baseball is....$1 Hot Thursday, O-E-O Magglio, and Jose-jose-jose, Fireworks, Buerhle's cool and Colon's heat, etc, etc, etc. Anyway, given this I think I might take on a self-imposed freelance project. When I have some spare time, I'll concept a series of spots - story board them - and post them to the site for the forum to critique. Can't say when this will happen so keep your eyes open. Clarkdog-- I too work in advertsing, and couldn't agree with you more. The entire Sox marketing strategy is misdirected, patronizing, and, more often than not, downright stupid. I'm in if you ever want to make it a group freelance project

Breaking News: Sox acquire Scott Sullivan
Wong & Owens replied to Chisoxfn's topic in Pale Hose Talk
I agree, you don't call up the Reds and say, "We need Scott Sullivan, take whoever you want from our farm teams." The Cubs got a good starter(Clement) and at the time a good closer(Alfonseca) for Willis, who was a throw-in. Clement is a big reason the Cubs go to the playoffs if they make it, Willis only got called up because of injuries and the fact that the MArlins had nobody else to start. Willis still has only about 2 months of success in the majors. Lets see how long he keeps it up before we lambaste the Cubs for shipping him off. Although, it is fun lambasting the Cubs! -

Let me also qualify my statement by saying that I wonly make this trade to fill a necessary hole in a pennant race. If the Sox are at .500, and 20 games out, then of course you don't trade Borchard for a middle reliever that's a free agent at the end of the year. -

I would trade Joe Borchard for Sullivan, if Sullivan A) Wasn't coming off arm surgery, and B) had a longer-term contract. Borchard is a right-handed Dan Pasqua. -
