  1. Yes, at least give us: "Neal Cotts just walked his 15th batter in a row, and Steff just went and hung herself." FUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUCCCCCCCCCCCCCCCK!

    Help me out

First and Ten was the name of the show I think. Don't remember the name of the team.
  3. The numbers that really count are Wins. Loaiza managed OK with the same lineup. Colon was quoted, and I posted the quote, and Manuel followed up with a quote verifying that GooBoy waits to see if his teammates show up. When they do, then it's "time to show who he is". That's not making the effort to 'step up'. True, Loaiza did fine, but Buehrle didn't. Look at Barry Zito's numbers as well. A pitcher cannot ever control how many runs his team will score, so I don't think it's fair to say that he isn't the same pitcher based on record alone. I don't know about the whole attitude thing--I read the same thing you did and thought it was strange. It certainly isn't anything that would endear Colon to Sox fans, but we are talking about a guy who is NOT from America, and doesn't speak English. Could something have gotten misinterpreted or taken out of context in that article? I don't know, maybe maybe not. Since I can't know any of that for sure, I can only go by his numbers, which are right at the levels we should be getting from him. Anyone who mistakenly thought we were getting a Big Unit, or Rocket based on a 20-win season aided by changing leagues and having two excellent defensive teams behind him may have fell victim to the hype machine.
  4. If you don't want the back and forth, then get it right, it is NOT personal against Colon. It is strictly what he has done in a White Sox uniform. Nothing more, nothing less. His appearance is no more than 'easy' ammo to chide him, but the fact remains he has not pitched for us as he has for other teams, and other fans. That I take personally. I'll hug Steff, or HSC or Heather but I'll take a pass on you hairy ones. I still don't understand why you and others insist he's not pitching as well as he has for other teams. Yes, his record isn't as good, but the whole team played like crap the first half of the year. The numbers that really count for a pitcher--ERA, WHIP, and K's show that Colon is pitching just as well this year as he has in any other year in his career. A pitcher could possibly have a 1.50 ERA, average 20 K's per 9 innings and have a WHIP under 1.00, and have a record of 0-20. I would take that guy on my team any time. Have you watched enough of him in Cleveland and Montreal to be sure this is a new attitude for him? I don't see how he could be doing much of anything differently considering the facts.
  5. I guess that's a "no" on the group hug.
  6. Why anyone would give one second of their life, or one penny they have earned to the Bill Wirtz Empire is baffling to me. I can understand being a fan of team itself, but given the circumstances, you gotta see the bigger picture. Only 2 professional sports teams do not have local television contracts--The Expos and the Blackhawks. f*** the Hawks, you'll see me at a game when Dollar Bill is dead.
  7. I think a bigger difference is that this year you have many more players that have been through a playoff series before. How many guys from the 2000 team had playoff experience? Thomas, C. Johnson, H. Perry, I think that's it. I think the starting pitching scares people this year too. I don't think any team in 2000 was worried about playing the Sox with the mighty Sirotka, Parque, Baldwin and Eldred taking the hill. Especially since 3? of them pitched hurt in the playoffs
  8. They're not going to give an MVP award to a .260 hitter. Especially a guy few people like. For sure not if he's playing on a non-playoff team(still a possibility)
  9. In a previous thread, I laid Colon's stats out and with the exception of win-loss record, his stats are EXACTLY what he once was. In some cases, they're even better than they have been the last few years. If you want to hate him based on your opinion that he half-asses it out on the mound a lot of the time, then fine, but to say he wasn't what he once was is incorrect. better???? hes gonna be lucky to hit close to 20 games this year.....this is not a case where less is better.......... There's too many other factors in play concerning a pitcher's record, you can't seriously think he's a worse pitcher when A)His ERA is almost dead on his career average, B)His WHIP is almost exactly the same as his career average and C)His strikeout totals project to be better than they were last year. If you just use record to determine a pitcher's worth, Cory Lidle is a better pitcher than Mark Buehrle this year. You agree with that?

    Dog training

    Put it in the microwave?
  12. For him, 91-94 ain't gonna cut it. He's not Jamie Moyer. Put Koch in a box, and put a sign on it that reads "Do not open until fastball reaches 98 mph. under penalty of losing your job."

You just have to be patient and stick with it. She'll get it eventually. I did read that you should never get on the same level as your dog--it gives it the impression that you are equals and can be dominated.

By "shock" collar do mean a pinch collar? Or is there an actual shocking device in it? A pinch collar works really well for walk training, but I wouldn't use it for anything else. I am currently taking our puppy to puppy training class, and the instructor says the best way to keep the dog from jumping is to brush it off or ignore it when it's jumping, and reward it when he/she backs off.

Opiate was their best, IMHO. Too bad it was only an EP.

Wow, you really went out on a limb on that one. You must read Rolling Stone or Spin. Do you think the Bulls were the best NBA team in the 90's too?
  18. From ESPN: They're back in the AL Central hunt. "I smell blood. I'm like a pit bull," Torii Hunter said. "Once I taste blood I'm on you ... and I'm about to taste blood." Gotcha. Hunter went 1-for-14 in the Twins' weekend split with the Royals. ...and he has a girl's name. Have some of this :finger Torii Hunter.
  19. Ghost, I didn't read your post before I answered Patrick_Bateman - good call, good memory yeah it is either BrandoFan and an American Psycho/Bret Easton Ellis fan - Patrick Bateman makes a brief appearance in at least one other Ellis book (Rules of Attraction) although it is his brother Sean who is the star of that one - I am not sure what to hope for, BrandoFan finally coming home or a brand new Ellis fan to talk great literature with (the movies all suck compared to the books but you can't do that stuff in movies...) Did Bret E.E. also do "Less Than Zero?" Talk about your bad movies.......
  20. My guess is Tony drumming up support for himself... which might mean that it's Roman playing the "let's make a new SN and start s***" game. Um, that sounds complicated. I'm going to a different thread now.
  21. Is this BrandoFan in disguise? If I remember correctly, Patrick Bateman was the name of the lead character in American Psycho, and BrandoFan had a quote from that movie in his signature.
  22. I am/was a doubter, and given how this team performed for the first half of the season, how could you not be? They got swept by Cleveland AND Detroit, were next-to-last in the AL in hitting, their big-money closer couldn't close a door, and the mislabeled Ace seemed to only bring his A game when he felt like it. I would say anybody who watched that first half and was still optimistic about our chances at the time is either clinically insane, or a corporate shill for Reinsdorf.
