Ugh.. don't ruin it. Oh c'mon Steffikins, like you arent getting a world of ideas from that Britney Spears/Madonna pic from the MTV Awards.

From the looks of you in those photos, I don't think you eat a whole lot of pie! But that does sound yummy, that sounds good to me! OK, which one of you is going for the easy crude lesbian joke off this post?

Well, in a previous post, you said, "OK, I'll play." If that didn't mean you were going to try and put forth a convincing argument, then what did your statement mean? Nolan Ryan is in the Hall of Fame, and his win total had little, if anything, to do with it. Randy Johnson is a HOF lock, and his win total isn't that impressive either. Regardless, yes, wins are the most important thing in baseball, but 9 other players(8 in the NL) factor heavily on whether a pitcher is granted a win. By your logic, ARod isn't a stud hitter because his team doesn't win much. Just because it's an official stat for pitchers doesn't change the fact that ARod has almost as much to do with whether the Rangers get a win as whoever is pitching does. Would you be happy if Colon was 14-6 with a 5.48 ERA, and 75 K's?

OK, I'll play. Tub O' Goo's history here? 13-12, QUIT after 97 pitches (got tired) in his cUB game. Tub O' Goo's history against us? Your number, 7 wins. Which part of that is so tough? That Colon "quit" that day is somewhat speculative, and if he didn't feel like he could give the team enough to win the game, then I have no problem with him admitting he was tired, especially considering it was the 6th? 7th? 8th? inning of that game. I'd rather that than have him be shot, and convince JM to leave him in to give up 6 runs. Wins are the pitchers stat that the individual has the LEAST amount of control over. He has 7 wins against us, helped ENORMOUSLY by the fact that he was playing for superior Indians teams at the time. Surely, if he were on the Tigers during that span, his record would have been much worse given the rest of his line. I've yet to hear any convincing argument(or even an attempt at one) as to why one should consider wins so important to a pitcher's performance that you should overlook all of the other, more directly applicable statistics.

That is some good stuff. Haven't eaten in a Baker's Square in 7-8 years at least.

I can comprehend what I read, but I don't understand where you get this from: "And it is backed up with his history here as well as when he pitched against us." In his career vs. the White Sox, here are Colon's numbers: 7-5 4.85 ERA 1.47 WHIP Opp batting avg: .276 6.5 k's per start 11 hr's in 14 starts What is so great about his history against us? And please don't call me puppy or puddles(i'm not claiming you've already done so), it's kind of creepy.

WGN Morning News Reporting The Cell "Half-Empty"

It would have been nice to have a sellout, but the place was pretty full and as always, very loud. -
WGN Morning News Reporting The Cell "Half-Empty"
Wong & Owens replied to RibbieRubarb's topic in Pale Hose Talk
Kids are back at school, it's hard to get out for a Monday game, regardless of price or situation. Given that the idiots in Sox Marketing spend all their time and money trying to pitch the team to families, this is what's going to happen after late August. -
Thank You, Waylon Smithers

WGN Morning News Reporting The Cell "Half-Empty"
Wong & Owens replied to RibbieRubarb's topic in Pale Hose Talk
It was a good crowd yesterday, but didn't someone say the LD wasn't sold out? Sure looked like it was, but what do I know, I was too busy counting the curiously high number of Twins fans in attendance last night. 5 Twinkie fans behind me, talking like Cubs fans--"big game, and they still don't sell out" "they never stood and cheered when they were 8 games out of first" Whiny f***s, the lot of them. -
Does the UD policy hurt attendance at the Cell?
Wong & Owens replied to JUGGERNAUT's topic in Pale Hose Talk
But at least the policy is fair--people with LD tickets are not allowed access to the UD. Thank You very much, I'll be here all week. -
I can't do that...I just have too much love for the team...I'm in no way gonna begin to be a fairweather fan...I'm gonna continue avidly following this team no matter how bad they are, even though there seems to be way more lows than highs. OK, let me ask you this question: You are a diehard Coca-Cola addict--you drink a 12 pack of it a day. You love the taste, the caffeinated buzz, the design of the logo on the cans, etc. Then, that day comes in the 80's, when they change the formula to New Coke. The taste is different, there's a new logo, and I believe less caffeine. It's terrible, you can't stand it. Do you continue to drink a crappy product out of some bizarre loyalty to the Coca-Cola company? Or do you find something else to drink, vowing never to touch a Coke again until they bring back the classic formula? The Blackhawks are New Coke, and the only way you'll get Classic Coke is to stop buying New Coke. If sports teams are to be run as businesses, then consumers must react to them as they would to any other product on the market. I never said I'd be a financial impact on the team...You can FOLLOW a team without going to a single game! I just won't stop following the team altogether, which is what you're imploring us to do! OK, but you realize that every minute you spend listening to a game on the radio, or watching?HA! a game on TV you are contributing to the lining of Dollar Bill's pockets in indirect, but very significant ways. I guess if you're just checking scores in the paper you aren't helping the organ-I-zation.....

I'll give anyone on this site $1 if they'll agree to not watch, listen to, or attend any Blackhawks games this season. Cmon, a whole dollar! It will be worth it, trust me.

I think I heard over the weekend that Minnesota has won something like 20 out of the last 21 games vs. Detroit. They're due for a couple losses, regardless of how bad Detroit is--aren't they?

I was hoping you'd tip that one in. Not that he needs and help on my part but corg is correct that Bart is not having his usual season. Perhaps it's lack of effort or age. If we made a historical look at corg's beloved Frank we will find he's not having a career best season either. I don't believe Frank's efforts are lacking and I don't believe Bart's efforts are lacking. Wins and ERA for Bart 1997 4-7 5.65 1998 14-9 3.71 1999 18-5 3.95 2000 15-8 3.88 2001 14-14 4.09 2002 (combined) 20-8 3.31 2003 12-123 4.08 The only career best catagory that Bart may reach this year is innings pitched and some baseball fans might consider this a plus based on our bullpen woes early in the season. After tonight, this will be his 2nd most innings pitched. Corg, I guess by the time I got around to reading your posts they were all after the start which is why you were generally wrong half the time. I'll be more attentive in the future. Now back to watching paint peel. No, he isn't. I never said Colon was posting "Career best" in any category. What I said was that he is pitching every bit as well, or as poorly, as anyone should have expected given his career numbers. The only department Colon is lacking in this year is wins, obviously, which is a category that is affected by many other things completely out of Colon's control. Career Avg ERA: 3.89 2003 ERA 4.08 Career k's/season avg: 157 2003 k's: 158 and counting Career WHIP: 1.33 2003 WHIP: 1.20 No reason to say he's having a down year, but if you want to say he half-asses it, it's a free country. Am I not a true Soxtalk poster if I refrain from personally attacking the posters that have anti-Colon opinions, or put on my toga and pooh-pooh all the know-nothing simpletons that are so less intelligent than me? Feels like it.

If Ncorgbl insists on beating the same drum over and over again, then I guess it's OK to post this for the 200th time as well: COLON'S NUMBERS ARE THE SAME HERE AS THEY'VE BEEN EVERYWHERE ELSE HE'S PITCHED. IF YOU WANT TO BASH HIS "LACK OF EFFORT," FINE. BUT QUIT POSTING THIS CRAP ABOUT HOW YOU'VE SEEN HIM PERFORM BETTER IN CLEVELAND OR MONTREAL. THAT IS INCORRECT BASED ON NUMBERS, WHICH IS ALL YOU CAN JUDGE ON, AS I AM CONFIDENT YOU HAVE NOT SPENT THE LAST 4 YEARS FOLLOWING COLON'S EVERY START. BASING YOUR JUDGEMENT ON WIN-LOSS RECORD IS RIDICULOUS.

Shawn Estes just drove in a run for the Scrubbies by hitting a SACRIFICE FLY. All he had to do is HIT THE f***ING BALL IN THE AIR TO THE OUTFIELD. Maybe JM could have Estes over to U.S. Cellular to teach Sox hitters to GET RUNNERS HOME FROM THIRD WITH LESS THAN TWO f***ING OUTS.

Game Thread (8-28): White Sox vs. Team Annhilated
Wong & Owens replied to BridgeportHeather's topic in Pale Hose Talk
If the Sox pull this one out, and we get to send Buehrle out tomorrow, is Jerry Manuel a genius then? -
Sweeps lower a team's morale, but I don't think the fact is lost on the Yankees that the only game they won involved their ace against our 5th guy who isn't really a major league pitcher. I have no problem with the decision, keep the big 4 as fresh as possible until absolutely necessary.
