Wow this game is hard to watch. Ticky tack foul, no call, ticky tack, no call. Make up your damn minds.

QUOTE (MurcieOne @ Mar 12, 2009 -> 02:22 PM) We absolutely agree on that point. Matt Forte(while a 2nd rounder last year) would probably be worth close to a first round (late firstround) pick this year. You'd have to imagine that a team would rather have a somewhat known commodity like Forte rather than pick someone in the late first round, pay them first round money, and have no idea of how they will perform. I was tooting the Forte horn from the time we drafted him last year, I was finally right! (Rexy still stings SO MUCH!) I disagree on where you have him ranked above. Beanie Wells is going to go middle to late first round in this draft and although he may be a better pure runner than Forte, he isnt the complete package that Forte is, not many backs in this draft really are. -
Come on guys, "just enough" and "lucky hr's" have been part of the game since its inception. Over the wall is over the wall and thats that.

QUOTE (caulfield12 @ Mar 12, 2009 -> 05:02 PM) I think the bloom is coming off the Josh Kroeger rose a little bit today. You know what you get with this guy, he's shown in over multiple seasons in the minors, he can hit, cant field. He's always hit.

QUOTE (fathom @ Mar 12, 2009 -> 04:42 PM) Sounds like a final motivational ploy to get Owens going. isnt that what the "Owens not off to a good start" article may have been days before? I think they actually see what everyone else can see, that he sucks. He has the most AB's because they are giving him every chance which he isnt winning. They will have zero doubt when they dont take him up with the team after all the chances he's had.

QUOTE (Kalapse @ Mar 12, 2009 -> 04:24 PM) I don't see any way Wise doesn't leadoff and get 75%+ of the PA in CF. He's fast and bunty that just screams top of lineup hitter, never mind the fact that he's bad. Ozzie and Kenny came out today and said that speed doesnt matter to them for a leadoff hitter.

Buy a portable hard drive for 40 bucks that can hold 80 gigs or higher, backup your laptop, move it to the other PC, keep drive for future use.

QUOTE (SoxAce @ Mar 12, 2009 -> 03:22 PM) Get use to that. I'm a big Fields fan. I'm telling you, he's going to surprise ALOT of people. I think he will have a huge year as well. His swing looks alot better than previously. His hitch is smaller and he seems to have flattened the plane out a bit.

QUOTE (maggsmaggs @ Mar 12, 2009 -> 04:12 PM) This is the big reason why Richard might be best served as a reliever/spot starter: teams seem to get to him the second time around. Obviously, small sample size, but that's what happened in the majors this year and today. Its true. He commands his fastball well at several different speeds and has deceptive sink and a good motion. He is a classic pen guy IMO. He will make his money in that spot.

Kroger can play all OF positions if needed and 1B. I like Becks playing SS today, maybe they are thinking about putting him there and Lexi in CF?

QUOTE (caulfield12 @ Mar 12, 2009 -> 02:57 PM) The Brewers' radio announcers thought that Owens really "blistered" the ball to the opposite field, lol. Why he can't do that more consistently, instead of patented 4-3 Thome PO, is beyond me... He doesnt blister anything. His hits to LF are shanks due to his awful swing path.

QUOTE (Balta1701 @ Mar 12, 2009 -> 11:31 AM) Unfortunately, just like when a ballpark changes its name, the media will all be required to refer to it by its official name, and eventually it'll get stuck. There is no way. Sears Tower will always be Sears Tower.

QUOTE (MurcieOne @ Mar 12, 2009 -> 12:59 PM) I think that's really the only argument there is to be made. I mean you can say that Forte may be the next Walter Payton, but I don't think his play suggests that (not talking stat-wise here), he doesn't possess the type of game breaking skills that separate a good RB from a transcendent RB like LT, AP, Barry Sanders etc... I think the "dime a dozen" argument doesn't necessarily apply to Forte because he's better a 1000 yard journeyman who averages 3.0 yards a carry. However, you can find a RB who will provide enough production where there will be an overall gain in offensive production by adding Cutler than if keeping Forte. I dont think Forte is dime a dozen and I think the Bears would be stronger with Forte+Cutler vs Cutler+unknown draft pick or Kevin Jones. I think the Bears would be ready to compete if they just traded draft picks. That was my point. -
I get the feeling that Marquez is the 6th starter right now in their eyes.

QUOTE (Chisoxfn @ Mar 11, 2009 -> 10:50 AM) Oh and anyone who will tell me how great Forte is, I will tell you that running backs in the NFl are a dime a dozen and potential franchise QB's don't grow on trees. A franchise QB can run your franchise for 12-15 seasons where as a premiere running back and your lucky to get 5-6 real good seasons of production. Bottom line the value of a QB is a s***load higher than the value of a RB (and I love forte). Thanks for going through both sides of the argument for us. Either way, you trade Forte and you have to look for one of those "dime a dozen backs" which have eluded the Bears since the 90's. It makes them take a large step back, its easier for them to trade draft picks. -
